thanks for another great lecture . I am following ur series and I was actually wondering why next lecture has not yet come , and it came today. thanks again.
Sir,what i have observed in the most urban indian society is that Caste is now just related to the identity of an individual, there are high chances that two individuals of SC category(suppose one lives in rural area,no development still caste structure very rigid) and valued and another lives in modern urban society where caste structure is diluting) might have different world views due to different experience because in urban areas, the Class structure is more prominent they decide the position of an individual in that structure of urban society..where as caste is merely related to the identity..if u belong to SC category they will treat u in the same manner as they treat individuals of higher caste but they both should belong to the same class position... So There is a CLAST(Class + Caste) system in the urban society of India..Rigid(still can't change ur caste) as well as dynamic (u may change ur class position).
We all thank to you for your great contribution Sir. But meri already 2 attempt ja chuki hai and as we know coaching fees are high for upsc preparation and I have already wasted a lot of money.. is this lectures are sufficient or should I go for coaching or multiple other resources.. please guide me Sir meri emotions attached ho chuki hai with UPSC I really don't wanna leave this preparation.. kya meri tayari ho sakti hai with these lectures
sir as u said social stratification is a form of social inequality but social inequality can be seen at various levels rather than limiting it to individual it also contains indvdl + group then can we consider social inequality as basis/means for social startification rather than taking it as discrete concepts for indvdl and group
Sir...somewhere I read that social stratification can not be in form of layers always...it is not like strata of geology though the word has come from geology itself. But you are telling that stratification is in top-down layer. Then what is the difference between stratification and hierarchy...
Geological strata are fixed whereas social strata are subjected to change , mobility and dynamism...They are malleable...I have also explained the link between social stratification, Hierarchy and social inequality in one of the comments somewhere in lectures pertaining to stratification...do scoop these comments...also, I have mentioned it somewhere in these unit lectures.
Dear..... I would still advise you to make running notes.... To be quite honest, there can't be and shouldn't be any standard notes for sociology... It is a creative and dynamic subject.... JUST BE CONCEPTUAL AND INTER-LINK DIFFERENT DIMENSIONS/CONCEPTS AND START WRITING ANSWERS... I strongly believe this is more correct approach to sociology!!
