Favorite album John Lennon - Plastic Ono Band Favorite artist Haruomi Hosono First record Weezer - Blue Album Next record Steely Dan - Pretzel Logic Catchiest tune right now: The Great Escape movie theme Hottest newcomer: Kirin J Callinan Alex Cameron The Garden Guilty pleasure: Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head Best music video: Blur - Coffee And TV Best concert: Jonathan Richman Favorite song of all time: Greg Phillinganes - Lazy Nina (written by Donald Fagen of Steely Dan)
parachute and a rush of blood are both really cool albums, nothing guilty about it in my opinion. coldplay making shitty music now doesn't reduce the quality of their earlier stuff - i don't understand why so many people shit on coldplay altogether nowadays.
Man, Mac's sure got a great taste in music. Fantastic picks regarding Weezer, Coldplay and Blur, Coffee and TV is also my favorite video of all time. And actually, if you listen to tracks like Hold on or Look at me on Plastic Ono band, you can certainly hear where Mac sort of picked up his jangly, beautiful guitar sound.
Mac just showed how he could be a great radio DJ in this interview. His calm demenour, well spoken delivery and extensive musical knowledge makes him a good fit for it :D
Plastic Ono Band is legendary. No other album I’ve heard has the emotional impact of that album. It’s not my favourite ever, but I wouldn’t blame anyone if it was theirs.
I love this man hah. A rush of blood to the head is such an amazing album. Got it on vinyl and there's nothing better than smoking a blunt and belting out the tunes.
If you pause at about 3:32 you can see that the video editor split the screen's color grading to make the window darker and the room lighter, great detail bud =)
I had to come by to see who's this guy after reading a few comments about him. I'm 24, but it's very nice to hear another young person talking about Greg Phillinganes, one the premier Los Angeles studio keyboardists since the 70s, especially Lazy Nina which is a great track, and of course, Donald Fagen, one my musical heroes, part of Steely Dan, a band that will never die. 1970s-80s music is the best!

staxstix even x&y had some great material
Coldplay is great overall. They're new EP is Quality
Viva was the best one tbh
Its simple... they're sellouts... I mean common they collabed with the fucking chainsmokers...
Rhea B I hate to tell you this, but every band is a sellout.
makes sense.
always heard Lennon in Mac's vocals.
Man, Mac's sure got a great taste in music. Fantastic picks regarding Weezer, Coldplay and Blur, Coffee and TV is also my favorite video of all time. And actually, if you listen to tracks like Hold on or Look at me on Plastic Ono band, you can certainly hear where Mac sort of picked up his jangly, beautiful guitar sound.
interesting dig.. thank you sir
I'll actually have to pay closer attention to the Steely Dan stuff, I'm not too familiar with it.
Am I the only one who hears a lil John Lennon in Demarcos singing voice?
Sharlenn La Yeah but their first two albums are gold
I might have left the oven on
I love him rocking in the chair like a sweet old lady.
Mac just showed how he could be a great radio DJ in this interview. His calm demenour, well spoken delivery and extensive musical knowledge makes him a good fit for it :D
scaredypicker nice profile pic
O man'! It's getting real. New album hype train.
It's been so long since I've watched a Mac interV.
h
such a chill guy! Mac should have a podcast after his album so you can just listen to his voice and fall alseep!
damn, mac mentioning blur. shit just made my day
Mac demarco is legit the chillest, coolest guy
He's goofy but mature and weird but cool, definitely proof there isn't only shit music these days
You should see Chris Martin in interviews he is so amazing
Plastic Ono Band is legendary. No other album I’ve heard has the emotional impact of that album. It’s not my favourite ever, but I wouldn’t blame anyone if it was theirs.
They ask him that guilty pleasure question all the time and answers always with Coldplay
The song "Jealous Guy" by John Lennon sounds very much like a DeMarco track to me.
JadenK check out the Roxy music version
Hold On too
DANCING CHEESE Productions yes LITERALLY everytime I listen to hold on, when John says “COOKIE” it’s sounds identical to Mac
DeMarco sounds like Lennon get it right
JadenK sounds like it could’ve been on this old dog or maybe even hctc
Listening to Mac DeMarco just plain talk is therapeutic
I see Mac Demarco and Coldplay in the same title, I click. I’m a simple man
Same.
what a beautiful and wholesome young man
The youtube recommendation algorithm fucking LOVES Mac Demarco. I don't even listen to his music and it recommends me his videos.
Love him mentioning Jonathan Richman. You can tell he’s a huge influence on Mac and his stage presence.
I wish I had Mac demarco's voice. It sounds so calm
I love this man hah. A rush of blood to the head is such an amazing album. Got it on vinyl and there's nothing better than smoking a blunt and belting out the tunes.
Man i'am so agree !! Best Coldplay album (after Parachute :) )
rush of blood is the true masterpiece, parachutes is a clear second
Those first three albums are all beautiful, but Rush of Blood to the Head and X&Y are both tied for my favorite Coldplay album.
What do you guys think about a moon shaped pooled, it comes first if you ask me
I’ve been depressed for sometime now. Something about this video gives my soul a little bit of my color back ❤️
If you pause at about 3:32 you can see that the video editor split the screen's color grading to make the window darker and the room lighter, great detail bud =)
I love that he loves The Garden. I love all 3 of them 😭
seeing this amazing soul in 3 months time. there are no words to describe my utter love towards him.
The garden, omg their audience is so small I didn't think he knew about them ahhh
AvgJane19 they just opened for him a couple months ago at the McKinney plaza!!!
They opened for him back in AZ a few months ago they were funny as hell.
I love how he thinks before saying "blue album" like he hasn't said it in every other interview same with the Coldplay question
love him for mentioning the garden ❤️ my boys
He always talks a lot about Donald Fagen's work in his interviews. Good musician to hold as an inspiration
Man, A Rush Of Blood To The Head is an awesome album, there is nothing guilty about it Mac, I love to hear that record while im driving too.
A rush of blood to the head is actually a legit ass record. I can't say the same for the newer stuff
A Rush of Blood to the Head is my absolute favorite record, and Mac liking it just boosts his respect levels in my book
Good on Mac, shouting out The Garden!
Such a good band. Love their new stuff but I’ll listen to all their discography in one sitting.
The reason I was hooked was because his voice reminded me so much of legends.
mac got to play with his favorite artist so proud of him ❤️
I love these short interviews with him.
Plastic Ono Band is a DAMN GOOD album
i only just noticed this was uploaded today damn
I read your comment and then saw what time every comment was posted, I don't think I would've noticed otherwise. I feel lucky lol
Wow! He loves Mr.Hosono!!! Impressed!!
*A Rush Of Blood To The Head* is a masterpiece.
he almost said "it's not really gay" lol 4:23
Not really guilty
i guess I need to clean my ears my often.
thanks for the correction!
Didn't expect Mac to give The Garden a shoutout. Hell yeah!
that coldplay record is just great... no denying it...
he is so interesting i've been watching his interviews all day
Can't wait for the album.
I feel like Mac and I have a lot of music that we like in common. Weezer, Blur, Lennon, old Coldplay. Awesome.
Took me 10 extra years to come close to his level of music appreciationisticism. He knows what is up.
I'm in love with this man
Thankyou Mac
That Plastic Ono Band pick makes SO MUCH SENSE. Can't believe the influence never occurred to me before...
Respect on The Great Escape reference, such a good movie
Plastic Ono Band is honestly one of the greatest albums ever made. If you haven't listened to it, go do it right now.
Plastic Ono band! If you listen to hold on you can really hear the influence 😍
I thought I am not a religious person, but Mac makes me me doubt.
I play the role that I am makes you doubt doubting?
UncommonSituations boi😂
me too, he is a genius, a miracle
this guy can make me smile just by spinning in a goddamn circle
I died of laughter when the camera switched angles and he re did the intro aahaha
Aw how sweet is he, he had The Garden open up for him last Friday at radio city music hall and they killed it ❤️🙂
The Dirty Mac is the greatest band of all time.
I think we've found the King of Hipsters guys.
God he's an awesome songwriter though.
I had to come by to see who's this guy after reading a few comments about him. I'm 24,
but it's very nice to hear another young person talking about Greg Phillinganes, one the premier Los Angeles studio keyboardists since the 70s, especially Lazy Nina which is a great track, and of course, Donald Fagen, one my musical heroes, part of Steely Dan, a band that will never die. 1970s-80s music is the best!
Increíble escucharlo decir que su artista favorito es Hosono😮
Mac.. love this NICE person. the way he talks and hilariousness reminds me of Haruomi Hosono.. yes you're just on your right way. love from jpn.
Love that he plugs The Garden
I have the milk cartoon tattoo. Yes! Thank you! Coffee and Tv and Beetlebum are awsome songs!
I fucking love the garden ❤
My favourite music video is Coffee and TV too, what a guy
good stuff, all together, good stuff..
his voice is so soothing
Worlds colliding!! A Rush of Blood to the Head is definitely Coldplay's best album. So awesome that he's into it
I was random playing coffee and tv on guitar and then he mentioned it haha
Bullshit artist
I love mac for loving Steely Dan
i always had a feeling mac took alot of influence from John's solo stuff
Really well made video. Loved the questions
I obvi love his singing voice but his speaking voice is SO SOOTHING IT’S LIKE SMOOTH JAZZ
Perfect favourite album choice
Hosono & Yellow Magic Orchestra? Yes! I love you, Mac.
I love Mac so much
Why can't everyone be mac demarco?
I LOVE MAC DEMARCO ❤
John Lennon/Plastic ono band is still an underrated album to this day
he makes me so happy
Even Mac's normal voice is soothing.
Plastic Ono Band is such a solid album. Raw is the best way to describe it
Good interview questions! Simple and easy!
2:55 Holy shit!!! I’ve been whistling that song to my dog all week!!!
I love watching this guy just because he's so got his priorities in order. He doesn't give a fuck about anything unimportant.
love the shoutout to kirin j and alex cameron
I could listen to him talk for hours on end
Plastic Ono Band is a great album, 2nd best solo Beatle release after All Things Must Pass
i love this man so much
Kindof a relief just watching a kinda normal interview. This was interesting!
I'll never not respect a man that enjoys Haruomi Hosono
yeah eveyone else flipping out & commenting about weezer and coldplay and no one talking about who he said was his favourite artist, smh
That was one of my first albums too, Weezer's Blue Album, from a flea market.
Im in love with his eyes
Pls be a night radio dj Mac you have such a soothing voice!!
Mac is just so f*ckn human. All favorites sound very relatable.
