I've been listening to indie my whole life, play in an indie band, I don't think Mac is basic he (and the band) is great live and seems like an authentic person and a good dude. Good music comes from the soul, who cares what other people think about your tastes, they are yours not anyone else's!

The first time I ever listened to Mac Demarco, I was laying on a hammock in Jamaica, and it was during the summer time . It was probably the most magical experiences I’ve ever had, just watching the sunset next to a beautiful beach. I’m pretty sure I listened to an albums worth of songs but every time I hear a Mac Demarco song, I’m reminded of that experience.

He’s more comfortable with himself and has a wicked sense of humor! And This Old Dog is his best album yet!

Too good for this world. I hope Mac stays around and lives a long, happy, and creative life (: His music has been the soundtrack to the last 6 years of my life - in good times and bad. Good vibes to all the fellow Mac fans (:

Whoa. That whole dad part was intense. Watching the interaction with his father followed by an intimate, acoustic performance of "my old man" hit me some type of way. Respect.
In one sense, he's overrated. Everyone knows him and his songs and because of his antics. But in another sense, he's underrated. I had no clue his music was so introspective and made him vulnerable. It's hard to realize that when his lyrics are backed by such a happy, warm tone.
Now that I think of it, maybe listening to his music is like have a deep conversation with an old friend drinking some beers and smoking around a campfire rather than some dude jamming out to jam out and be cool. Much respect, mac.

Learning about the lives of artists I love and all that they've overcome in such a genuine way is so uplifting. It really gives me hope that one day I'll figure out the path to my own happiness and have the ability to pursue it. Thank you so much. I hope you see this and take it in a positive way. I’m saddened by how desperate I am to watch and to listen to Mac. It’s with the most, undying pain.. the soul crushing agony.. that I cannot. A horrible, horrific human being, I fell madly for, had a taste of blood for, endowed me with beautiful songs from Mac, to express his all to me.. what I had really meant to him through those years. I was so sure! It never felt fake, we were so much alike and then, he was gone. Even using one to say goodbye and to come back and to disappear, into the the arms of a new love.. without me, unsaid to me, leading a whole new life, miles away from me.. even took her to one of Mac’s concerts and recorded the song he gave to me.. My Kind Of Woman. I even wondered if he was thinking of me then. it’s been 3 long years and I find myself living a lie, day in and out. I was a crutch perhaps, I’ll never know. The ringing noises of the sounds performed by Mac and and his band only sink me lowly into an insufferable well of disparity. I can feel the agony sinking in like needles to a recovered addict. I look up from my well and I’m in hell again. The music is beautiful. So beautiful, it paints vivid memories back into my brain and I see his blue eyes in morning sunlight again. Smiling in my face and it’s a good day. I hear him laugh, the shower is running. The image at that time, I was certain, was my home. It was always my nightmare Id never have that again. It came true and I never saw it coming.. now it haunts me in my dreams.. nobody knows that. I always see him in my dreams and so I can never move on. To make it worse Mac looks so much like him. So I can’t bare to listen nor watch. To this day, I wonder if he ever thinks of me. If when he moved he was just afraid I wasn’t coming or if he just found someone new. It was so sudden. At the end of the day, what the fuck is wrong with me? He’s never coming back so who cares? Me! I want to hear this music without dying to slip back into my disease! Without wanting to stop in my tracks and throw all of it away! I wanna be selfish and be fucked up and give up. I don’t wanna be pretty, I don’t want to push on, fuck the bills, fuck jail, fuck this new relationship. I wanna be numb and thoughtless. Warm and fuzzy in my blues.

      Justtt...wow.
Idk what to say to you, nothing anyone can say could help, and I'm sure you know that. But if you wanna say fuck it, say fuck it. Wanna be selfish? Do it. All that self-indulgent, feels good shit...do it. Idk if you do drugs, but sure throw those in too.
But ya gotta realize that all of those actions put you into a state where when the next opportunity with someone comes along you won't be equipped to pursue it, or likely even REALIZE it's there. And on that you can trust me, I let drugs and self-indulgence numb me to the point I can hardly recognize when people care for me and try to help me...and I wish that wasn't so.
Anyways...something about your post tells me you have a good soul, and you can be happy. Try and LET YOURSELF be happy.

Mac's my Cousin, tbh my Uncle is not as terrible as everyone makes him out to be in these types of videos. I didn't see him much growing up, but when I did I remember him just being a happy, and funny guy who could make little me cry from laughing. I know he made some bad choices, and he is paying for them. I just don't like to see such hate towards him, because he's still a uncle I enjoy. (Also Mac is from Duncan BC, not Alberta originally)
