This is a great video for people who don't realize that there is some super-rugged terrain and lots of vertical relief in Arkansas and Oklahoma. It really makes me want to plan a backpacking trip there!
This is in arguably the most scenic part of Arkansas - the Upper Buffalo River/Ponca Wilderness Area. Tons of great day hikes & backpacking trails. It was featured on an episode of “Rock the Park.” This area is a MUST see when y’all visit AR. Very popular, so be prepared for the crowds!
Amazing place - I spent a few weeks there last August, though I barely saw any people. Maybe the fall colors bring them out, or the August heat sends them away. Thanks for sharing this.
@@DixonHikes Is that the case for generally anywhere along the BRT / upper buffalo river, or just Ponca / horseshoe bend specifically? I want to go back this year, but maybe I should wait for the heat to drive some off the crowds. Thanks
I think you would find a good amount of solitude out on the BRT, regardless the time of year. But the popular spots: Whitaker Point/Hawksbill Crag, Lost Valley, the Goat Trail, Hemmed In Hollow etc draw the crowds, especially on weekends.
Beautiful views!! Arkansas is almost close enough to head down and see them myself, thank you for subscribing to my channel I am glad I had the opportunity to see your vid I am now a subscriber of yours! Keep the adventures coming!
Hey Chris, nice video! I'm planning a trip to the Upper Buffalo River area this fall (same exact time you were there - late October). What kind of weather can I expect?
Great video Chris, some pretty sweet views, thanks for sharing

Definitely the August heat & humidity that sends them away, brutal! Fall thru spring it’s crazy, on weekends anyway.

Great video Chris
That spot's hard to beat...to crowded though. Looks like you hit it on a good Fall day. Nice camp view man. Gimme that breakfast!
Way too crowded. “Damn people takin’ over the world!”
@@DixonHikes Hehe...them too...bastards.

Thanks for the sub back, Cletus! Arkansas is a special place - come see for yourself.
Chris Dixon I think I will put that on the list for next year!
Nice videography.
Absolutely incredible views!
America’s first National River - The Buffalo River, below. Worth a trip to Arkansas to float or hike for sure!

Hey, Nathan. Thanks for watching. Late October should be just about perfect - 70’s with low humidity on average.
Hello, was wondering if I can use some of the video footage for piano music background. Credits will be given for the owner.
It’s just Beautiful
How long does it take to do the 18 miles
From the Centerpoint trailhead to the goat trail is approximately 6 miles out & back.
While it's gorgeous, I'm gonna pass. Way too high for this fat guy lol. Great video though!!
What song is that near the end?
Ha! That ledge is wider than it looks on camera. Thanks, RedBear. Music is by Chris Stapleton & The SteelDrivers, some good ole bluegrass jams. ✌🏼
@@DixonHikes it's not the ledge really, it's the height lol. Cool thanks, I thought the voice was familiar but couldn't place it.
