    Take a piece of advice from a truck driver. Don't sleep in the city. If you are not familiar with the "good" areas and the "bad" areas. Don't even risk it. Just drive a few miles to get away from the city. When you stop seeing street lights and the sky is actually dark. This is more than enough mileage to ensure a quiet night. But still close enough to go get breakfast in the morning.

      This is garbage advice. Not everyone can leave the city. And certain places like a metroplex leaving the city is a 2 hour drive. Not everyone lives in rural Hicksville. Park in a 24 hour gym or hospital in a good area. They usually safe and most people won’t bother you.

    Your nightly routine sent me back 40 years when my husband and I moved into a 35' converted school bus. We lived in it for several years with 3 large dogs (2 of them half-coyotes), traveled everywhere and loved it.
    Our nigh time routine was almost identical to yours: we did everything we, and the dogs, had to do prior to going to sleep. My husband or I would then drive to a spot (we had several selected in an area of San Diego), park, slide curtains "mid ship" and go to bed. We left front windows without curtains so that it would not be so obvious we were sleeping there. The dogs were super quiet all night, as we'd trained them to be - they were the best part of our lives, wonderful companions and friends.
    It was the best 8 years of our lives! So glad you are doing this and making it work. Keep enjoying it!

    Reminds me of my road trips in a sleeper car on Amtrak, but yours is more hardcore, as you're thugging it out without help while there's always someone there to service my shower or see what i want to eat. The bed is uncomfortable, but better than sleeping in coach. I've traveled 45 of 50 states, and there's a risk of unintentional adventures when on the road. You don't control conditions and I remember being stranded in New Mexico because the train broke down.
    My family never used our RV and they sold it by the time I was old enough to drive, so I take the train as my alternative.

    One advise: if your internal door handles, in the front seats, form a loop creating a hole, take a long metal chain and run it between the two then secure the two ends together with a lock, but keep the key in the lock for a quick release, just in case. Make sure the chain is in tension by not leaving any slack.
    By doing so, if someone picks one of the doors locks while you are sleeping, he won't be able to swing open the door because the chain, anchored through the other door's handle, will hold it in place. The same would apply for the opposite door.
    It's an added layer of security, stay safe.
    PS: you can buy a chain at any hardware store, they are not very expensive.

      @marialindell9874 7 місяців тому +73

      @@kaylzshter6153That's why you lock with a quick release lock.
