John Baskeyfield VC was in command of a couple of 6pdr anti tank guns and knocked out several tanks and spg’s between Arnhem and Oosterbek, when most of his crews were killed he manned the guns by himself until sadly he was killed.
Delightful episode! Running around with umbrellas… y’all sure made it a much more entertaining war. Seriously though FoW British are going to be my next big historicals project, both armour (with a “u”) and airborne. Once I get through my current non-historical project.
Frosts battalion made it too Arnhem as they took an alternate route to the other 2 battalions who ran into heavier resistance. Also then the other 2 battalion were slow off the mark to try and reroute, getting stalled by SS panzer. Also the 17pdrs stayed around the LZs and the 6 and 75pdrs went forward as they could be towed by the fast jeeps, rather than the much slower Morris tractor units (needed for 17pdrs)
Haven't done much but given I'm trying to drag my old man back into wargames (and he used to do a 15mm ww2 system back in the day) and we both loved a bridge too far (really need to rewatch it) I am so tempted to order the box... I just need to make an appropriate German force and terrain, I guess.
LOL, I did watch the review twice before deciding I needed the extra's that are included in the box. So, looks like my next FoW project is British and US Para's. I remember the book Mike mentioned I bought a copy on a school trip to the IWM in 1978. The RAF radar expert on the Frost Raid was Jewish and had never jumped before - hell of a brave man who knew he could not be captured for two very different reasons.
I got the original metal stuff when they brought out the hells highway it included recon jeep platoon 7 jeeps airborne engineer platoons glider assault platoons airborne anti aircraft platoons and even paras on bicycles
Dammit Kaiser, this box previously was of no interest to me, I already have LW Germans and Americans but now I'm considering adding this to my collection.

Greta soldier.
I really enjoy these reviews as they are a fantastic mix of model/set reviews with a great dollop of pertinent history. 10/10
Glad you like them!

Makes sense.

Just about any of the late war German army boxes are a good starting place. Loads of reviews on the channel if you are tempted.
For Operation Varsity, they should release a 1st Airborne box with Richard Gale and Major Howard in it to make up for the name mix up
One day

You got the other one too! Thank you for your business. Lots of painting to be getting on with.

Para cyclists - sounds great.
Didn't they not develop the cut down Morris for towing the 17pdr?
Yeah, I think so, but I am not sure any made it on this drop/

Sorry man.
