I’m so proud of you……BetterHelp sounds great‼️ Therapy really helped me!
@@donnanorman340 BetterHelp reaches out to a lot of UA-camrs not just homesteaders. At least the ones I’ve watched. I think it’s awesome to make therapy available to everyone.
This is no hate to you or your channel; simply a heads up. I get that you have to make money and sponsorships are a big part of that. However, BetterHelp has recently been in trouble by the US government for 1) Not having licensed therapists even though they advertise they are licensed, and 2) selling customers' personal information including the personal info you fill out in that questionnaire and/or tell the worker in your sessions. This court case, which they were found guilty of doing these things, is easily found with a simple Google search. I highly recommend doing some research before agreeing to work with a potential sponsor. Especially one who gets access to a people's most private info about their lives and has been found guilty of selling that info to others.
So glad that you're finally getting the professional help you need!!
Thank you for your heartfelt honesty. I know many will be helped this. ❤❤❤
Better Help is a scam-please do a deep dive before investing your time in them!! In a nutshell-2 class action FTC lawsuits violating HIPPA and selling client info to ad companies and other social media platforms; questionable unprofessional, (are they)licensed therapists, not covered by insurance, expensive, many personal horror stories just here on YT. The company’s response to law suits very blasé, not really taking any responsibility or accountability. You’re better off finding someone local, and gardening and touching grass will do so much more!!
Came here to say this as well!
selling client info is unforgivable
Better help saved my life. 🤷♀️ but yes their price is ridiculous and selling info is absurd!!!!!
All this!
Becky, I'm going to say this to you because I feel like you need to hear it: don't let anyone make feel bad about therapy. I spent 13 years in therapy off and on for a dysfunctional family issue. I hate to say this but in order for me to retain my mental balance, I had to cut parts of my family out of my life, because they were part of the problems I was having. You do what you have to do to retain your mental balance. You'll make it, you are stronger than you realize
OPEN THE LID WHEN LIGHTING THE GRILL IT IS DANGEROUS LIGHTING IT WHILE CLOSED.
I can't wait to see the glorious array of colours your garden will be.
A Irish blessing upon you and yours May your thumb be ever green and may your heart be ever light.
Here’s a thought, instead of just staking the landscape fabric down when you’re getting it ready for winter, why don’t you add some long two by fours over top of the edges this way the wind won’t be able to get underneath it at all
Hi Becky, just so you know. Just ordered 3 sets of strawberries from MI Gardener and tried to use your ACRE code for 10% off. Code would not be accepted at clout, so I called them. Man said they quit using that code and no longer honor it. Booooo!
Figured you were not aware of this, so advising you. I hope my strawberries do well too. Hugs to you sweet lady.
Thank you for being open about your mental health. I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety all my life and highly recommend counseling. I’ve done counseling for 15 years now. It’s a gift for yourself.
It absolutely is!
You have SO much energy! I know I’m in my 70’s but what I’d give to be your age again, knowing what I know now! I’d give anything to have a helper with your energy and knowledge to help me! It makes me sad to know I can’t do what I used to be able to, but didn’t know to do it…..I’d have more veggies and herbs going…..Keep going! You’re such an inspiration!!!! ❤❤❤
Becky, I am so glad you shared your journey with mental health. And I am so proud that you found exactly the support you needed. You are what makes this community great. It’s your courage and sharing your day-to-day struggles and successes because most of us watching you have very similar experiences.
❤Amen to that!
Speaking to a therapist is a wonderful form of self care. They help us learn new ways to navigate our way in the world. I talk to my kids about my struggles with life so as they age, if they experience the same feelings, they will know it’s not unusual. Thank you for bringing it up!
Definitely up-pot your tomatoes! And when you do it, bury the plant as deep as you can. The deeper you bury the plant, the more roots will grow. I like to put my tomatoes in 5" pots, and they always do great!!
N add egg shells
Becky you should use your side by side to carry all your trays and stuff from the house to the garden instead of wheel barrel. Save your back girl!
My grandad used to blend one colour into another starting with say 3 rows of one then a row of the next colour…2 rows and 2 then 1 row and 3, it looked really beautiful like a wave of colours from one end to the next.
Pouring boiling water on your soil may have killed any bugs but it also kills the good nutrients. Might be why your starts aren't as good as last year.
My thought as well... Prepared soil mixtures come with nutrients necessary for growth and boiling water certainly eliminates a lot of them
100%
Right on !
Ugh! I did this also! I didn’t do that last year and they turned out fine.
I agree. All the other garden videos I watch they use tap water and makes sure it’s not drenched. Just wet.
I have used better-help before. I am on maintenance therapy now just when I need it. It took 3 matches to finally get my fit therapist. I am so thankful to God for saving my life.
You always work so hard. Carrying us right along with you. We appreciate you, Becky. Thanks for inviting us along.
Thanks for opening up Becky...I also visit a therapist (via phone call) for depression and anxiety. I also wouldn't go into an office so this works really well. Most people honestly would benefit from talking with someone 😊 love watching you garden.. also helps me 😊
With no intent to be snarky, I think Laura from Garden answer calls the snapdragons Madame (pronounced “Mad-damn” like the French) butterfly. However, I think will all plant names pronunciation can be regional or individual Keep up the fabulous work!!!
Bravo to you for being transparent about mental health. That was super brave and your example probably encourages someone else to seek help. Thank you for taking that leap❤
Becky, after your staples start rusting don’t throw them away. They work better to stay in the ground and hold your weed barrier down. They don’t slide out like new ones will do. 😊
Becky , your plants look way better than anything I’ve seen in a Nursery ! Great job 👏 ! I can’t wait to see the finished results 😘
I'm glad you get the help you say you need, but you may not realize that watching your videos helps a lot of people. I've never seen someone your age with your work ethics.
Thank you thank you Becky for talking about mental health. My daughter has struggled for years with her mental health. She watches your channel and has now decided to seek professional help. You are a star ⭐️❤
❤❤❤
That is wonderful x
FYI you should open the BBQ lid before turning on the gas and pushing the ignition it can get a buildup of gas and blow the lid off completely speaking from experience .
Becky seeing your landscape fabric staples in your wheelbarrow, I was thinking if you had an old plastic coffee can you could store them in that. That way they would all be together and not loose, easier to carry when you need them.
great idea
becky , found your channel and am obsessed with it , in a good way, such authenticity and knowledge you both share. please dont stop , breath of fresh air to see a virtually unscripted channel with real life problems and successes and joys of life, you and josh are awesome, love to see him more in what he contributes , she sounds real handy and a perfectionist and a man with integrity and humor. you are so cool , funny , authentic, self deprecating , love your presence in life. you guys are making a difference. frank in st louis, home and garden enthusiast
Becky I just want to commend you on opening up about therapy, it truly shows what a strong young woman you are and I am sure you helped others to not be afraid to seek help. many blessings to you my virtual friend ❤
I think uncovering your beds for the growing season and covering them in the winter is an excellent idea 😊
Becky, i just bought a collapsible wagon with very wide tires. It would go great on sand, dirt, or your gravel paths. I love how versatile it is from going to the beach with all the chairs coolers and stuff to helping me bring in all my groceries in one load. It saves my back! It would work great in the garden too.
She has a Gaiter but doesn't use it❗️
Pouring boiling water on your soil may have killed any bugs but it also kills the good nutrients. Might be why your starts aren't as good as last year
You might be right! I up potted them and they are doing fantastic!
Growing the snapdragon without the weed fabric is good, because the snapdragon can reseed and come back on its own next year. At least they do for me. I've never had to re-plant them.
ITS PO-TOE-MACK BECKY 😂! Potomac.....Pontimack is creative though❤
Saving my visit with Becky until after dinner and dishes are done...going to be a great night :)
Hope you enjoy!
You need to get a life 😅
@@Kristina-rs3pfDoing what brings us joy IS a life, and a good one at that.
I'm watching as I'm tucked into bed for the night😴❤
I waited until my kids are asleep so I can give my full attention to Becky!
My tomatoes took forever to grow! I used the Vermont compost for the seeds. The leaves not only turned purple but they didn’t look good! I up potted them with different soil and they took off! They’re two feet tall now!!! I’m in zone 4b. It’s just not time for them to go out yet!
I'm so happy that you're getting sponsorships now. You are my comfort channel and I'm so glad that you get to support your life and family by doing what you do. Thank you so much
Your garden is going to be so beautiful. I can't wait to see it all in bloom! Your hard work doesn't only add to the joy in your life--you share your joy! God bless!
I had a wonderful experience with them!! You go girl! I am super proud of you for speaking out and up!!
Isn't that the truth. I just started therapy myself in the last month. It's amazing having someone to bounce your thought on.mine are on zoom as well. Becky is a pioneer!!
Oh i am so excited for you! Everything is going to look so beautiful. God is good.
Becky could you do a pre garden season pantry tour?
We saw what your pantry looked like at the end of the growing season, would love to see what you have left before you start harvesting from the garden again and if it was enough for your family.
In germany celery root (16:20) is in every vegetable broth (especaly in bouillon cubes). So it might be your next star for your freeze dryer or vegetable salt).
I love it! In my country too.
I freeze once a year mixed cubes of root cellery, carrots, leek and parsley and have a great start for clear broth or many other stocks or stews. Especially the rootcellery adds so much flavor. I personally don't like the green celery, I prefer the root celery.
Wikipeda lised 3 sorts of celery. The 3.
Cut celery, is the one to make boullion cubes.
The leefs of the root celery can also be used.
Good to hear you reached out. From your home is a good way.
I can SO relate to your hesitancy to go see a therapist. It seems like a daunting task to find the right fit. I am 3 weeks from my 60th birthday. Recently diagnosed with ADHD. I'm suffering terribly with grief of what could have been if someone had picked up on it many years ago. Women in general, especially in my age group are the lost generation with that diagnosis and treatment. I also suffer with GAD and C-PTSD. I've literally lived most of my life (since age 6) in survival mode or masked to feel "normal". Until recently... didn't even know those were a thing. Thank you for sharing, Becky. The method of therapy has had me in the rabbit hole for a while now. You have encouraged me to finally pull the trigger and check it out.
I can't tell you how proud I am of you to share such private struggles. You and your videos are already therapy for many of us 😉, it can only get better now. ❤
It’s like you are writing my story! I too will be looking for a therapist through this place as I’ve been down the rabbit hole too. Best wishes to you 🙏🏼👍🙂
I too get therapy and i love that you took that step. Mental health is just as important as our physical health, love you girl and have a wonderful day.
Aw thanks! I agree! I just needed to get over that hump and do it and it has been amazing
Miss Becky, You are so right! You have had so much success with starting your own seeds that buying tomato starts if you have to is definitely not the end of the world. Your efforts have resulted in so many beautiful plants! You definitely have a green thumb.
I also want to say that you are such a beautiful soul. Really...I mean it. Every time I watch one of your videos it brings me such peace and joy. Thank you for being you and sharing your life with us.
Celleriac always reminds me of the mandrake in harry potter :).
I don’t grow vegetables. I do love to flower garden and getting my hands in the dirt. It IS therapeutic . I find your videos totally enjoyable. You are a delight to watch and so natural and honest. Thank you for your channel.
Suggestion: up pot the tomato plants. Put on a heat mat ( they need heat) try a dilute fertilizer if the plants don't perk up. This is from a hot New Mexico area.
Becky...an old guy on e told me to have a gentle fan running on tomato plants..strengthens them. Also bottom water!
I think mixing you colors in your beds would look like wild flowers
The summer my daughter turned 4, I planted her name using cabbages, in a large plot (off to the back of the yard), filling in with parsley. It was such a fun surprise for.
I'm in my mid-twenties, and my dreams are basically that of a homestead wife living her best life raising her family and dogs and chickens with the best quality of life. I love that you inspire me to garden, to cook food from scratch, to spend time with my family because it gives me purpose. You made me appreciate what it means to go grocery shopping with my mom and I learned to cherish those moments before they disappear. I'm so happy I found your channel 3 years ago when I was watching you make lasagna noodles from scratch. I've been watching your videos ever since and I iust wanted to let you know how much of an inspiration you are Becky! ☺️
I remember that video, too. She is so inspiring.
I actually signed myself up for some local therapy this week. My therapist likes gardening and reading like I do!
I hope it is helpful for you!
I love your excitement when you see new sprouts! (I'm almost 70 years old, but still act just like you when I see the seed sprouts!!!) BTW, "Potomac" relates to an area near Washington DC and is pronounced "Pah-TOE-mick" (Just FYI!)
yes, an there were MADAM butterfly, not maiden. It just helps to be able to find a variety correctly...
Bravo for getting the therapy. And for encouraging others to do the same. ❤
I’m glad you saved your plants. It’s always hard losing plants you start from seed and especially ones that take a while to grow! That snapdragon bed is going to be gorgeous! Happy Growing!
In Poland (and I’m sure other countries too) celeriac, parsnips and carrots are base for every stock and soup (usually we just toss the celeriac and parsnips or make a vegetable salad with them)
My favorite flowers are sweet peas and snap dragons also. My mom hated my sweet peas because they would climb up her roses and other stuff.
Bless your heart, Becky! Getting help is the best thing you could do!
You can try feeding them the fish emulsion and that'll probably help them green up.
Potomac like the river ...😅 I can't wait until full bloom!
I am inlove with your garden beds...what a dream! Can't wait to see all your hard work come to full bloom ! Great job!
Man I'm jelaous. I wish big long healthy blooms for your garden.
Girl you have that ATV or whatever it is, why don't you make more use of it in helping you take items to the garden?
She answered that recently. She admitted shes not good at driving it.
I wish I had that much space for flowers. Can't wait to see all of it bloom. Thank you Becky. ❤
Becky Time 🎉
may i ask.. why are you planting all the flowers in the beds and not in your top garden, at the side/wall or at front of house where you would see them all the time?
I have a flatbed wagon for my garden needs. You can get lot plants on it to carry to and from. Plus it is very useful to carry all your harvest up to house. With lot less strain on your body. Happy growing season Becky.
That's a great idea!
Those wagons that fold up would be quite useful. Storage easy in grow room maybe❤
Gorillas garden carts are a huge workhorse. My 70+ year old mother loves using hers for all kinds of projects
@@AB-ol5uz I love them too. I gave my mom one with the quick-release dumping system and it´s so much easier for her than a wheel barrel.
I thought you bought a side by side?….
YAY for therapy! I'm happy for you, Becky. Self-care is the best care. ❤
I cannot wait to see the flowers bloom!!! 😍😍
I’m sure up potting your tomatoes will help them.. they are quite hungry plants and after a while they use all the nutrients in the soil and that’s when they change colour.. you can also plant them a little deeper and they will grow more roots from the stem that will take in more nutrients and moisture.. I did this with mine after they was a little leggy and they look amazing now 😊 some good nourishment will have them bouncing back in no time 🙌🏽hope this helps ☺️
Hey sweet friend, thank you for sharing your wonderful recipes and gardening adventures with us. I'm so happy that you found help and I'll be able to get help for my daughter who suffers from depression. Thank you Becky for sharing with us. Sending blessings to you and your beautiful family.
I have to admit I have a little garden envy. Here in the Midwest we're still having frost at night. Usually in Mid-May I can start to plant. I started my tomatoes inside and went to put them outside the other day when it hit 70 and my pup decided she likes micro greens!!! Oh well, life happens. Looking forward to seeing your flowers in bloom!! Have a good day.
oh no! I am so sorry about your little plants becoming snacks
Cats like green snacks, too!
🌿🌿🐈🌱🌱🌱
While I was trying to save my flats of seedlings from a hail storm, my Meow Cow leveled 2 flats.
Miss my Big Bad Boy every day in spite of his appetite.
Oh, no!
I’m in southeast New Brunswick and our last frost date is mid May BUT never fails- the new moon in June gives us one last frost blast. EVERY YEAR and they call it a fluke 😄. I still plant out in May but time it so that they’re not like too big to cover easily in June. This year, I’m ground planting some things in my greenhouse , airflow with the windows and the doors should help regulate heat in there, a friend of mine said put your brassicas in it. 😯 Mist brassicas hate heat so I’ll stick to netting to keep the cabbage moths off.
It's still freezing here in central IL but it's supposed to warm up next week. I can't wait!! I'm so ready for the warmer weather as is my Anemia.
love the potatoes.on your window sill- I did this in the early 60's my kids did this in the 90's and my grands did this when they were in nursery school- all were planted over the years and we had many potatoes from them-
i have been watching you for about a month and have enjoyed your posts very much from meal prep to canning and preserving, flower and garden preparations to harvest. You are a very creative and hard-working person. Thank you for sharing this with all of us watching.
Snaps , zinnias, tomatoes, and herbs are my must haves in my small garden… and snap and snow peas ( which never make from the garden to the house - they are my treat while I weed and tend) 😋 and of course lots of culinary herbs. I envy the time and space you have - it is my dream! I am grateful to live in an area with wonderful Amish and farmer’s markets.
Can’t wait to see the glorious colour when all those plants flower. You’re amazing I’m so in awe of your ability to tackle such huge projects whether in the garden or cooking for family and friends or painting. Blessings from New Zealand ❤
None of my business, but you can plant groups of them in your landscape for another punch of color! I love your raised beds!! I am hoping to get a greenhouse next winter 12 x 12 & have raised beds!! Thanks so much for sharing! XO from NE Texas
I had that thought over the weekend and had so much fun planting out so many into my landscape! I can't wait to see how it turns out
Your garden is going to be gorgeous this year!!!! Can’t wait to see it all in bloom!!!!
Hello Becky. Love watching your videos. I'm always looking out for your new uploads. Thank you for letting us join you on your day to day journeys. Outside in your gardens and in your kitchen you are always a inspiration to try something new.
Thanks. From Portugal.
Thank you so much!
Becky time!!!!
I am so excited about your flower beds this year. I have rosrs in my garden and a teeny flower garden. Zinnias and dahlias are in my teeny garden as well as hollyhocks. I am so looking forward to yours growing! May I suggest you use straw mulch around your flowers. I have found it really helps with weeds as well as returning goodness to the soil and keeping the soil moist in our hot summers (I am in Australia and we have anything up to 45° celcius (113° F) where I live in Summer). I watch all of your videos and it inspires me, both in my cooking and my gardening. 😊
I keep visioning Clemitus vining up your arches. Perennial. After a couple of years it would look amazing. My folks had one vining up the side of the garage and it was a beautiful purple.
Becky, give your tomatoes a good watering with liquid fish emulsion! They will love it!
I’m so excited to see how your garden looks as it grows and see the beautiful blooms!
I love how I'll be looking for something to sprout in spring, and for days there's nothing. Then one day, I go out to the garden and suddenly see a teeny tiny shoot! And then, now that I'm looking closely, I suddenly see a second, and then a third, and another, and another. 😊
"OH there's a sprout" as the camera can't quit pick out the tiny tiny green....the excitement is wonderful!
A very nice garden!! Thanks for sharing!
I love everything about what you do on here! You’re amazing, authentic & so kind. If only half of mankind were like you the world would be such a better place! Your general attitude about life is such a beautiful worship to God. Your light shines beautifully! Don’t let anyone tell you differently 😊
Luv u Becky! Your comments about your sponsor were truly heartfelt. I wish more people would do the same. Hugs to you. And bc of you I’m trying my first raised garden bed! I’m super excited. Thank you for being YOU!
I can’t wait to see how your flower garden turns out!!😊
I am amazed your nails look so great given you work with all the gardening & tools! ❤
Thank you! 😊
I’m so excited to see all these flowers in the yard! I love flowers ❤
Garden is looking good. Thank you. Blessings
Can't wait to see everything growing in the garden
32:52 I am so looking forward to seeing how these beds come out with all the flowers in them! I think next year I'm gonna take your inspiration and make at least one of my beds purely for the pollinators (and cut flowers!)
Happy Wednesday, Becky & everyone!
Today has been a productive day in the kitchen for me! I wish y'all a productive & beautiful day too! 🫶🏿🦋
Aw thanks so much! I hope you have a wonderful and fulling day!
I figured back when you bought that four wheeler thing was for garden stuff but i guess not. Would be much easier
I have a raised bed that I’m going to plant some squash in and I’m considering putting landscape fabric over the bed first. Thanks for the the inspiration, Becky❤️😊💚
I knit and garden to help with my PTSD, anxiety and depression. It really helps. Becky try to look for one that does telehealth phone appointments. My psychologist does and I don’t have to leave the house.
sounds awesome that you were able to get your flower starts out in your garden I was able to do the same I hope to see them when there bloomed out
