I remember buying the entire Ace Books Conan series from a fellow student when I was in middle school. He handed me a paper grocery bag filled with them before class at my school locker. That bag of books filled my imagination for years.
Amazing. Howard is right up there with Tolkien. Totally different styles, but equally compelling. Thank you for taking the time to do these stories justice.
You have done an enormously good job of breathing life into the stories of the greatest fantasy adventure hero of all time! Even the illustrations of the scenes surrounding the story is fantastically done. And the direct quotation from the original story-THANKS!!
I read most of the original conan stories, and I loved his prose and world building. I am glad sword and sorcery is making a comeback somewhat. I have almost finished a sword and sorcery type tale inspired by Robert E Howard's creation and Lee Child's Jack Reacher. I hope to submit it to Savage Realms Monthly.
@@VideoHostSite thanks. Also, I'm redoing a story, with the new character inspired by Kull and Price Valiant. I was having trouble with the flow, so I changed the character.
I had all but given up hope that anyone would ever produce a Conan audio production worthy of the master writer and his brawling, carousing barbarian. Your work is stunning. The work is read with the understanding and masculine prowess of a man that grasps the fury and wonder of hell raising adventure. I salute you, sir. This is a dream come true, as "Shadows In Zamboula" is my absolute favorite of Howard's Conan shorts. My mouth now waters as I dream of your potential execution of my favorite Howard novella's, "The People of the Black Circle, "Red Nails", and "Beyond the Black River". Again, thank you for your talent and your perspective on great literature.
I was 7, and my older brother gave me a novel,, saying,, read this, I think you'll like it. Was the first of the series released in the 60's. My love of reading was born,, Here.
Look at you with all these nice colorful pictures you have here, great 👍🏾 great 👍🏾 great work, reminds me of a legendary 📖 book you have never heard of called My Book of Bible stories. Chicago Illinois salutes you.
Do you know of a fantasy about a prince that has magical connections to a white fox?For more context, his father is being coronated at the beginning of the book, one of his siblings was a twin and his older brother has PTSD from a former war.
While some fans have attempted to make a chronological order, there's no greater overarching narrative. They're just individual adventures Conan has had in his life, chronicled without regard for when each happened
There is debate about that... I provided a reference in a previous comment backing this version but it may come down to personal preference at this point.
I love reading, and listeng to these. I have a huge collection of old pulp novels...but I do cringe at the borderline racism in these. yes, it reflects feelings on race at the time, and Howard was never overtly racist, but its worth noteing.
I just wish I could get over the blatant enthno-nationalism and borderline racism in these stories. Without constant mentioning of races and ethnicities, these stories would have been immensely enjoyable.
Racism is natural. In this case it is nothing besides a fictional act of observation. You would have folks to be blind and not to notice nor to observe. Besides that the word is ambiguous being used for a multiplicity of sundry phenomena.
Why is calling someone brown racist? Get the f#ck over it, it was the 1920s segregation was the law and would not get over turned until the nearly forty years later .
There are people these days who refer to them selves and others as black and brown “bodies.” At least Howard recognized people of other races/ethnicities as men and women so who is really racist?
The word "racist" has such vague definition as to mean many things. Is it "to hate irrationally"? Or is it "to observe characteristics"? Liars and deceivers will shift from one definition to another in order to deceive or make a false impression on you. @@Sylentmana
I still have a few Conan comics and novels left but this story didn’t sound too PC to me in fact it was a bit too derogatory and demeaning and I’ve read a few Conan comics and loved them but this was very unsettling as a black person to listen to which says more about the script artist than it does anything else.
The fiery, Conan stories were written by a powerful, hell raising writer that produced these stories in a brawling, 1920s oil town. They are deliciously Barbaric tales to entertain and ignite the fires in the hearts of true men. No doubt they will, as they always have, distress the delicate sensibilities of "civilized", modern, mama's boys with tepid water rather than hot blood flowing through their milksop's veins.

The entire set?? Bastard.
I would have loved to have had these when I was in middle school/high school. The language is much richer than what is given to students today.
Likely soon - if not already - AI audio will be automagically censored in real time - making for double the gratitude and enjoyment here.
Yeah it's a solid mental meal. I always feel good coming out of one of these stories.
I started reading these around age 11-12, which is probably why I always read far above my grade level.
Amazing. Howard is right up there with Tolkien. Totally different styles, but equally compelling. Thank you for taking the time to do these stories justice.
Lord of the Rings is remarkably similar to The Fire of Asshurbanipal. I would argue that Tolkien plagiarized REH
I read these stories as a kid. Then, my collection of Conan books was destroyed in a flood. Now I get to listen to them. Yay!
You have done an enormously good job of breathing life into the stories of the greatest fantasy adventure hero of all time! Even the illustrations of the scenes surrounding the story is fantastically done. And the direct quotation from the original story-THANKS!!

That strangle battle was awesome! I remember reading it, but hearing your narration of it was even better. Thanks for the great content, Nigel

@@audiobooky sadly, this story will not fly today, and it is understandable, due to the somewhat racists overtones.

That was really an enjoyable reading! No sound effects, just the reader and the text. Thanks!

Conan the fearless was the book I think.
My first book was Johnathan Livingston seagull. You win.
Cool story back in the day I used to read all the Conan comics
Beautiful, Fantastic Story - ❤ it very much & 🙏

Is it "The Foxhole Court" by Nora Sakavic, which is part of the "All for the Game" series?
@@audiobooky No I don't think so.

So, is Cimmerian pronounced as Simmerian or Kimmerian?
There is debate, the etymology vs. what people would expect it to be... We've made it somewhat interchangeable throughout our productions.
Conan fans usually pronounce it as simmerian
@@AtlasRathbane4346 That’s how I’ve always pronounced it.
They’re using an AI that has difficulty reading.
❤😮😂
Gonad the ball bearing 🎉
😅
You mispronounce "Cimmerian"

"Conan in the Land of Dixie", would be a more appropriate title for this story. Wow...... couldn't stand to listen to the full story.
Now just imagine if this was every piece of TV and movies?
Now you know what it feels to be the Europeans in the modern age

It's important to know that all of our productions stay true to the author's original text; we make no changes or omissions to their writing.
