You've gotten me started on film and I am shooting Kentmere 100 black and white on a Canon 850 that I refurbished myself. Many thanks for getting me remotivated.
Love your shots, especially the truck and autumn leaves 🍁 Always fun to see different 120 films ‘cause maybe I should switch out my beloved Kodak Gold once and a while?! Hehe
Nice shots! The film look perhaps a little to warm (red tint) but it could also be the scanning. Your Rolleiflex pictures look really good. The higher resolution and the old German quality lens makes some very beautiful images.
@@Eclectachrome When it's film, and there can be differences from roll to roll, it probably makes the most sense to adjust in the digital domain if you want to correct. If it's going to be done analog, I think a Rollei HELLBLAU LIGHT BLUE FILTER -0.5 will do. But of course, colors are a very subjective thing, and correct white balance is not always desirable to make a good image.
Ill have to give it a shot sometime, lolks like it would be nice with the right circumstances like fall colors. (or the Catlabs version assuming its the same)
it's cool to see the different films that you used during holga week. i like seeing the same photos on different stocks. i always wonder about taking the 'same' photo, are they different? are they the same? just an interesting philosophical question :)
lab scanning for this will likely result in a reddish cast, but easily removable. home scanning is usually better for tweaking to your liking for films - I used Epson scan on standard color scanning but then tweaked the white balance to the warm side
I have two rolls of the 35mm in the fridge -- but now I have to order some of the 120 (I'll see if they have it rerolled onto 620 for my Argus and Duaflex cameras!) -- definitely a little on the red/magenta side, but a nice 'fall' color film!
for sure!! it's perfect for autumn leaves! would be nice if they do a 620 version, but I guess failing that, do you ever trim the edges of 120 spools to fit?
@@Eclectachrome -- In some of the cameras that option works, but in mostly the Kodak cameras (folders, fake TLRs and 'box' cameras) the 120 spool is still too tall and fat to work without binding. I just have not kept track of which cameras work or not exactly -- so I get lazy and look for the respooled film for sale (I could respool it myself I guess also!!!).... Have a great Thanksgiving! Lots of family pictures on the Holga!!!
According to the FPP Podcast from back when they introduced the film, it's actually manufactured by Svema in Ukraine. It does indeed remind me of Aerocolor. I really like it and have shot both 35 and 120. Soon I will shoot the 620 in my Kodak Medalist.........as soon as I get off my ass! LOL
yesssss, althought not the second weekend of the month of whenever the holiday it - it's CRAZY busy and traffic is a nightmare with all the leaf peepers, and small town places are overrun!
Definitely has a bias to the red. Do you scan your own film? If not, I've heard that commercial scanners can be a bit fooled by this film, and tend to shift colors towards reds. Much like Harman's Phoenix, scanning has a lot to do with the look one gets. Anyways a good film for fall foliage!
no haha that's too involved for me! lol I like the red but if I wanted to tweak it, I usually can mess with the balance in either Epson scan or Capture One if I'm scanning high res tiffs
hahaha most of them are gone by now although i nearly tripped over myself when entering my local bookstore and they had one not one foot away from the entrance door! they are an interesting phenomenon!
Thanks for reviewing this film … so, I know, I don’t need to buy it … hahaha … those reddish colors are terrible, I think. That’s much worse than aerocolor film.
Thank you for taking us on your fun trip with you. Beautiful photos!
thanks for watching and coming along!

thanks!! haha if it ain't broke tho! but this is a lovely film :)
@@Eclectachrome Haha exactly ;) plus, kodak gold is consistently the best price sooooo it's hard to resist!
Looks amazing out there!!! And super great shots as always! What was with those weird scarecrows though??? Ha
hahahah an american oddity perhaps - and thank youu!!

yess, that rolleiflex is awesome! it might be the scanning but most aerocolor i've gotten back from labs for scanned myself seems to lean reddish :)

I love the color. Sort of trends toward pastel coloring just a bit.
yess, a little bit pastel and reddish - aerocolor leans that way, its so pretty!
Another enjoyable vlog , thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!

it would be nice with fall colors! and yess it seems very similar to that one
nice video. Love your photography. The colors turned out beautifully. Will definitely be picking some of this up
thank you!! have fun!
Thanks, I hope You have a good Week, too!
thanks!!

an interesting question! i like seeing same places on different films or cameras, it's cool how many different ways the same something can look like!
What’s your scanning/interpreting method? I’m curious if this is a phoenix kind of situation where it would benefit a lot from manual conversion.

oh so cool! I hadn't heard that episode! haha get going! sounds fun :)
Wow, we have to visit New Hampshire in autumn!

Nice shots. Def gonna have to order some!
thanks! have fun!
Seeing that board game battleship in the background brought back childhood memory commercials of YOU SUNK MY BATTLESHIP!😂
hahah i don't remember the commercials, but its a must have for any board game lover!

it was great for foliage! I scanned the 35mm myself but the 120 went to the lab :)
I think CatLabs has it in 120 also
oh yes, they do! thanks for reminding me!
It's really reddish. Have you tried sampling greys to get a neutral white balance?
no haha that's too involved for me! lol I like the red but if I wanted to tweak it, I usually can mess with the balance in either Epson scan or Capture One if I'm scanning high res tiffs
reflx lab respooled kodak aerocolor to 120, 220, and 127
oh nice!
Hopefully this will make it down to Australia. 😊
Does the FPP ship there? Hope that it does though!
@@Eclectachrome it looks like it does, found a place in Melbourne!
that's a really nice emulsion
I enjoyed it!
Not really my cup of tea, but to each their own 🤷♂️😸👍
exactly!
LOVE THE COLOR OF YOUR PHOTOS, THE PHONIX ROLL CAN BE SAVED BY PLACING IT IN A DART BAG AND TRANSFERRING IT BACK TO A CLEAN SPOOL, NEXT TIME!
Too much of a red cast for me to use the film
it is reddish! i suppose you could correct it in post but if there are other films you like that don't have it, makes sense to shoot those instead!
Ack -- return of the straw people!!!! Although, I have to admit, they are very photogenic!!!

hahahaha you're welcome!!
It really depends on how you scan it. No trace of a red cast when I colour balance myself.
