Nicely done. I've built lots of these over the years. 5 foot and single 8 foot. I use sheets of 1/4 inch plywood. Standard radius for the sides is 30 inches wide, 30 inches high. The 1/4 inch plywood will bend over this. I use construction adhesive and screw. And do the same for the second sheet. Attach and screw the bottom first and then work it over and screw. Have a second person, helping hands to bend and hold makes the process easier. This makes for a very sturdy overall unit that will hold up to be moved around. Also safer for a horse. Esp newbies just learning how to jump a roll top. They can and will stop/slid into it and not kick a hole through hit. I have had horse balk at the last second and land on the on it. It is strong enough to hold their weight. The way this one is constructed a horse can and will break through it if landed on. Never a matter of if, only a matter of when. Regardless of the horse's experience. I spay Water seal on the plywood using a inexpensive garden sprayer. The carpet holds water. Which over time will degrade it. I spay the whole unit esp the wood that is in contact with the ground. Unless pressure treated 2X4 are used.

You don't say how thick the plywood is on the sides?

These are great! Do you have approximate cost for building these? I want to build some and surprise my trainer.

Oh my goodness, I wish I could remember! I think it was around $125.00? The Turf was the most expensive piece to buy. I hope you have fun building them! Your trainer will be so happy!

The Budget Equestrian thank you so much for the info! I’m super excited to make them , this looks like a fun project. I’m pregnant and have been put on restricted activity and I can’t afford to compensate him more for all the extra help he’s been giving me with my ottb but I really wanted to do something nice to show him how appreciative I am. I’m thinking he would LOVE some new jumps plus it will keep me busy since I can’t ride. 😊

Is the carpeting alright to be out in weekly rain?

The rain doesn't have much effect. The sun does take it's toll. UV rays break it down and it does start to shred after a couple of years/summers. Depending on exposure. Easy enough to staple a new piece on.

    Do you chain your dog

    • @BudgetEquestrian

The dog that is in a lot of my videos is not always chained up, but when I am outside, he likes to be with me, and then he is on a long line because we do not have a fenced yard. SO he goes out with me, and he is on a long cable, but it is not a chain. Also he is deaf, so if I let him run loose, he couldn't hear me if I called him. And I don't think he would ever hurt anyone, but I don't take that chance, so he is "tied" up when we are outside together.

You can make them as tall as you want them to be, these were 24" tall and each box was 4 foot long.
