The best thing about this tier list is that you so clearly articulate some of the major flaws with the armor system. Stun is garbage because, as you mentioned, the cooldown. Block strength, outside of maybe fighting the IBM, is garbage. Charged attacks, outside of one weapon, are garbage. Additionally, so many of these potentially useful things are obtained WAY too late in the game. However, in all fairness, they have made some reallly cool set bonuses and sleek effects. They clearly have the ability to come up with interesting and useful ideas. I personally think they nailed some of the build defining and gameplay altering bonuses. I am convinced that a simple balance patch of all weapons/armor/mutations would help this game a ton.
Yeah I agree there are a lot of mechanics that are under utilized in the game. But it's like a balancing act with 10 different mechanics making sure none are too op or too weak. I think charged attacks could use some sort of rework/change for sure

I really like the concept of the bow mechanic that encourages you to do regular shots until you get a buff to your charged attacks, then spam that until you get the buff for regular attacks, etc. That can really spice up combat. I would like to see more of that type of concept on other weapons. For example, maybe a charged attack has a chance to let you skip to swing 3 in the melee combo or something like that. You get rewarded for paying attention.
Something to mention about the red ant armor as well is you can use it to cheese strong early game bugs like lady bugs and stink bugs to lure them to the ant hill without drawing aggro from the ants.
Red Ant armor is more practical for spelunking the red ant hill, which is relatively easy, but then again, so is crafting the armor. What I REALLY like about Red Ant Armor is that it's an effective early-game armor for crafting bases. Hauling Strength and Chopping bonus for 6+. It's a very versatile armor. Just a shame that red ants aren't more prevalent, but drawing stinkbugs to the anthill before you have the stinkbug mask is a game changer for sure. I just don't think red ant armor is all that necessary. You can technically use upgraded eyepatch with minor enemy to accomplish a similar effect.
if you want to make a dmg over time set i recommend the mask and chestplate of the mother demon (venom and poison) with the assassin greaves(cutman bleed) with the assassin mutation (bleed and effect that makes bleed do more dmg) and the widow dagger as the weapon(venom effect)
I never made the Clover armour early in the game, but surprisingly I have now added a set on a dummy to all my small Outposts to switch to when spending time there because it reduces the thirst / food drain and help keeps your actual food / water stocks up. Especially if you have an Outpost that doesn't have good food/water options near it. At Main Bases, I likely have the comfort at a high enough level to deal with the drain.
I got it while i was farming for rotten food for farms, at the hotdog container with the sprigs. You are probably really unlucky or just never farmed a bunch of the food around the map@@Geckoreo
Black Ant, Wasp and Moldy Matriarch armors feel so useless rn , hopefully they will revisit them someday. Good tierlist, though bow users might put Antlion in B tier since it's the first good ranged set you get. Black Ox armor sounds strong but only for multi where you can have someone else draw aggro so you can use charged Toenail Scimitar + Blademaster to massively debuff enemy damage. Pretty specific scenario though
AS ALWAYS NICLY DONE - you are however wrong on Antlion armor - If you craft it 100% of the time on Easy Med Whoa for the sizzle guard (at min) it can't possibly be less than B tier. Also its one of the first T3 sets you can make so I'm sure a lot of folks are running around with it for a good portion of time till they complete their ideal armor/combat build. This is my argument for B tier good sir.
Yeah, aside from having different armor/set/sleek effects and being medium rather than heavy, it's similar defense to upgraded ladybug armor at that point in the game.
I make it bulky and then throw it in a chest. I only use it for the coaltana defence or to collect charcoal on Medium or Whoa. I don't wear it at all I switch back to ladybug once done with those things. I rarely even use it in the sandbox as I just chuck on fresh defence and run

I play with two other people, and I was trying to have one do the roly poly, one do the fire ant (though I'm not sure if the acid hurts us all), and one do widow/broodmother combo since i know poison nova used or still does hurt everyone, or the mantis armor. I'm not even sure that all of that is necessary, but I'd like to think that multiplayer requires a little more teamwork and cohesion than just doing the same thing I would've done in single player mode (I just use sleek ladybug for all fights, however, I haven't had to fight the infected broodmother yet).
You’re right about the bee armor both of those benefits are the same thing, stun and slow. Just make it one or the other and make the shots faster or stronger then there you go pretty decent armor in my opinion.
Got to remember that in a game that moves at 60fps like Grounded, 1/20th of a second is three entire frames, which is actually a pretty generous boost to perfect parry windows against something like infected wolf spiders or the infected broodmother.
I really like using the Infected Broodmother set for Black Ox base raids. The Ox's tend to stay close together, so the armor combined with the Blaster of the Moldy Matriarch is really powerful.
The broodmother helmet allows ANY melee to apply poison. I couple this with two handed since it procs pretty well. Nova has pretty low proc though when wearing full set.
I do really wish they would rethink the infected broodmother - she’s way too tough in my opinion. I can’t solo her, I’ve tried with one friend and we repeatedly fail. You can only steal her trinket and infected chunks, so you have no choice but beating her multiple times if you want her gear set. They should either allow us to steal all her parts, or make her last phase a little easier
I disagree. You don't need to beat it to beat the game. If you do you only need to beat it once as you can use the super duper to dupe the fangs and venom if you are really struggling. The point of the boss is not to be easy, it's supposed to be hard. I've beaten it regularly, on woah, with no armor and with ranged weapons only. Trust me it is more than doable it just takes practice

Practically everything hear is spot on. Only confusing thing is Widow>Mother demon, the Mother Demon set does more DPS and is arguably easier to get. Love your comment on mixing sets. After testing i found Mother Demon Mask, Fire Ant chest and assassin's greaves is the highest DPS you can reach in game when combined with the Scythe Of Blossoms.
It's really the +% poison damage that makes the widow armor useful. Throw on the chest plate and mom genes and you have like 90/100% poison DMG. Way stronger than adding a new poison effect alone

I recently got the inf broodmother armor and i am having a ton of fun with it. I can see why some players do not really like it but in my experience it was worth the pain
I'm a really new grounded player, but I was REALLY hyped about the Koi armor after figuring out via a crate that koi scales EVEN WERE A THING (I just assumed you couldn't harm that fat boi in the water after I died trying to slash at it). That along with the fact that armor buffs parrying which is something I find really fun in the combat of the game as of now. However when you mentioned that the parry window was only increased by 1/20th of a second it made me a little curious. Since the wiki only says that it "extends the parry window by 15 milliseconds" I'd be really curious to see some test footage since in theory, the 15 milliseconds could be applied to the start AND end of the parry window? This would double the effect of perfect block for each of the armor pieces, having a total effect of 1/10th of a second compared to the 1/20th. I don't have much say since I am really new, and ofc the 15 milliseconds could just be 7.5 milliseconds added to the start and end of the parry window. If anybody knows which scenario is true please let me know :D
19:01 the picnic table bees already attack by defult from what i know. I had a base on there in 1.0 and they attacked by defult but idk if it's changed.
Yeah they do if you go up top, it just means all bees will attack you which isn't a huge problem I guess since they are usually flying miles in the sky
Isn't the Broodmother Helm and 2 Assassin's shoulders/legs with a Widow Dagger, literally the highest reliable damage possible? Being beaten only by the "never get hit" unarmed build?
What would you say is your current top tier build for armor? Just full red ant armor?? I was most recently using 2/3rd widow with the broodmother helm, but not sure if that's still worth running really.
Honestly hard to say for certain but probably some combo of mother demon, fire ant, assassin and widow armor depending on weapon choice. Just stack a bunch of really good debuffs
Side note comment, but this video just got me thinking. Build enabling armor sets and weapons being gated behind late game bosses is kind of stupid. You want to play grounded as a "mage" (candy staff)? Too bad, because you won't get it until you are basically almost done the game. You like the idea of the "bard bow" build? Again, you get it near the end of the game. Bomb glove? Same thing, etc. etc. I really truly think they need to implement a TON more variety in T1/T2 and focus more on a progression of power for those builds as you make your way through the game. Perhaps a 'Monster Hunter' like gearing system would make more sense here. There is no reason why you shouldn't be able to start the game with a candy staff or bomb glove, or 2H sword, or w/e (a "sprig" or "stone" version of everything). End game bosses should be where you get the final upgrade pieces to get to level 10 or something.
Yeah I've mentioned that early game staves would be cool and also support staves instead of just offence like a staff that heals or one that protects players or buffs them etc.
I'd rather they add more content to hit up with the late game equipment. Even if it meant stretching the story out somehow. Slugs and snails, lizards or mice, etc there's a ton of other backyard common critters to expand with if they can find a reason to with the story. I mean it shouldn't be too hard, we are talking about a story that includes "grilled science", size manipulation and 'raisining'.
I personally love Roly poly armor I have all pieces fully maxed out and I take literally no damage from anything because I use it with a maxed out, mighty tick sword which gives me more life than I lose
Hey is this a good idea at some point if they do have to rebuff stun in some way would this be a good way to do it? Once the stun itself wears off it leaves enemies unable to always land an attack on you for a few seconds so like sometimes when they hit you don’t take the damage cuz they missed?

I actually have a build with the black ant armor, and it's nice to have a build that isn't poison for once, it has a mantis scythe, assassin greaves, and black and chest and helm, with coup de grass, trapper peep.r, apex predator, assassin, and natural explorer, and it's pretty good IN MY OPINION
In woah mode what I do is make clover armor extremely early for extra defense, then kill a bunch of tier 2 bugs using perfect block and make something like spider armor.

What armor should I make after the ladybug armor? I’ve done the red and black anthill, pond, hedge, haze, and sandbox labs. I’m by the bbq spill because I’m trying to make my salt Morningstar. I find that the ladybug armor isn’t that great when fighting the ladybird larvas and I’m having trouble surviving now. Which armor should I strive to next?
Ladybird larva and a LOT of upper yard enemies are weak tof resh so make sure to get one (Mint Mace and rusty spear upgraded fresh are the most popular ones). roly poly armor to help you survive and learn the timings of the attacks of the upper yard bugs. But you can also do that using ladybug armor albeit you have to heal a lot. After roly poly then branch out to your preferred playstyle armor. If you like daggers strive for broodmother/mantis/black widow armor sets. If you like Club, I'd say the broodmother set is still awesome. If you like to be tanky just stay with roly poly and upgrade it to bulky. If you like the Staves, go for the wizard hat and moth armor. If you like bows, wasp queen and moth armor.
Ladybug should be one of the best in terms of defence. You could opt to use the defence badge which slightly reduces the damage you deal but MASSIVELY reduces the damage you take. I also agree with the other reply that getting high damage elemental weapons is key as a good defence is a strong offence
@17:40 if you can use a 2h in a cave with no light, its because you use busted gamma settings or have a monitor that cant properly display the color black. lol Had a friend that would do this is other survival/craft games. Like, night in general and in houses at night was BLACK. Just a bunch of shadows swirling in other shadows. Of course here's him.. gamma slider maxed out to the right.. so for him is wasnt an issue. But its not how its meant to be played. Pegging out gamma is for creative mode users. haha

I was wondering how significant the perfect block window increase from the koi armor was, so I looked it up. From what I can tell, the normal perfect block window is 0.25s, so with the armor it's 0.295s. A 18% increase in the window seems pretty impactful to me, especially since i'm pretty new to the game and have trouble perfect blocking things like wolf spiders.
Sure it can help but I also feel like you'll have to change armor later into the game and now you're used to a larger window so you'll get hit more thinking you're parrying

If you are getting the moth armor before fighting the broodmother then I feel for you. Ranged in general isn't a good option tbh, too slow and harder to block attacks. Can be good in multiplayer but for solo melee is much better.
IDK, coming from games like World of Warcraft, I personally understand even 1% increase in stun as a massive boost. That 1% will stack with other resources; that 1% on top of the stinger spear + Coup de Grass can easily give you a crit in every 3-4 hits--up from every 5-6. That's not even considering if those percentages compound.
I don't think they are compound, also the stinger spear isn't going to be used in the late game. The black ant armor having 1% increase is rubbish because there are much better ways to boost crit and armor sets that do more for you like assassin armor
Im still running lady bug armor going into the sandbox, it has kept me alive . I feel like im getting better at combat and may try out some medium armor with better perks now
I think the best overall right now is a mish mash of crit, bleed and poison with the widow dagger and a mashup of assassin, fire ant and mother demon armor
Re: Broodmother Armor set: How much has the Venom attack been nerfed by the devs? A complete set with a dagger puts out so much venom, it's hard to ignore. Great video though.
All attacks have a 25% chance to apply Venom effect dealing 18 damage every 5 seconds over 30 seconds. DoT damage does not stack per armor piece. (From the wiki)
I have had the broodmother armor proc while parrying like the widow. It applies venom with sleek too. This is why i think the broodmother armor is better than widow. And its much easier to get than the widow
I killed my first wolfspider with red ant armor lvl3. It also increases hauling strength so that you can carry 14planks without any mutation or smoothie

some bees and worker ants attack me by default somehow. they seem just to hate me. what is funny is that only some of them are agressive, but the nearby neutral friends get agressive also cuase they are obviously from the same tribe XD
Fire ant workers are aggressive by default. Black worker ants are aggressive when on the shed porch. Bees are only aggressive when on the picnic table or wearing the bards tudor
roly poly is s tier in coop, if you use the increased block with the trinket, also taunting in a boss battle is very good, in conclusion tons of block so need to perfect block with a shield (which is extremely hard to do against infec brood anyways) and the taunt affect, its actually a 50% increase so it is noticeable
Yeah in multiplayer it makes you a bigger target which CAN be useful but I mostly play solo where this is entirely useless, in fact it works to your detriment as enemies will target you instead of each other
He said the wasp tutor will make bees angry at the piknik table. Aren't they always angry at the piknik table though? Or do they just hate me. I swear there's always a group of 2 bees ready to gank me when I cross that bridge to get to the side of the table you use to climb to the top.
They are angry at the picnic table as they are defending their territory. When wearing the tudor they become angry everywhere. Granted you don't see bees very often in other places but if you use a zipline which goes past them then they will attack you
i have never even made any armor in teir 1 exept aphid slippers but ive also beat the gane (the lake was sooo hard because i never made the gill tube in the game)

2 things, 1 bee armor does increase range damage. 2 why would you want to move faster when hitting? It's called kiting... where you run the mob (bug) around while you shoot out and out can't do shit. 😂

Yes but they only aggro at the picnic table because they are defending their home. Anywhere else on the map and they won't attack unless you have the hat on. Although you rarely meet them anywhere else
They really need to do something for the armor and weapons like make a new Mechanic where you can upgrade teir 1's into teir 2 gear and teir 2 gear into teir 3 gear. Like what if i want a teir 3 bee armor set or bee spear? Or a teir 3 ladybug set or koi armor set?(Obviously some items you wouldn't be able to upgrade like teir 1 and 2 axe's and hammers)
This wouldn't really work because the whole point of the progression system is to change to new armor sets that are higher tier. Sticking with acorn armor until the end of the game would be a bit boring
No you just don't upgrade the tier one armor past level 5, if you're using tier 1 armor after beating the assistant manager then I have some serious questions
@@Paraly5er Well it depends the 20% Defense reduction that the Koi armour offers is massive. So much so it's in par with the damage of Fire Ant and potentially stronger. But it all depends on how much you perfect block. If your block percentage is 0% then it's absolutely awful, if it's 20% then it's decent, if it's 50% then it's probably the strongest Tier 2 set, if it's 80% then it's stronger than most Tier 3 except Fire Ant and if it's 100% (Unrealistic I know) then it's the strongest Armour set currently in the game. Only thing that holds it back is that it's a lightweight Tier 2 Armour so fighting something that does a lot of damage in one hit like the Mantis is pretty scary but against the other 3 bosses it's amazing.

The yolo dash is the best way for the sandbox, it's quite easy to remember where everything is, first few runs is scary though😂
I think the role poly armor is s tier because the insane defense, and if you use a good sheild with it you will be very well defended
But it has no good buffs and high defense doesn't matter as grounded makes it so you ALWAYS take at least 20% damage from the attack

You can only steal her trinket and infected chunks, so you have no choice but beating her multiple times if you want her gear set. They should either allow us to steal all her parts, or make her last phase a little easier
I disagree. You don't need to beat it to beat the game. If you do you only need to beat it once as you can use the super duper to dupe the fangs and venom if you are really struggling. The point of the boss is not to be easy, it's supposed to be hard. I've beaten it regularly, on woah, with no armor and with ranged weapons only. Trust me it is more than doable it just takes practice

Practically everything hear is spot on. Only confusing thing is Widow>Mother demon, the Mother Demon set does more DPS and is arguably easier to get.
Love your comment on mixing sets. After testing i found Mother Demon Mask, Fire Ant chest and assassin's greaves is the highest DPS you can reach in game when combined with the Scythe Of Blossoms.
It's really the +% poison damage that makes the widow armor useful. Throw on the chest plate and mom genes and you have like 90/100% poison DMG. Way stronger than adding a new poison effect alone

I recently got the inf broodmother armor and i am having a ton of fun with it. I can see why some players do not really like it but in my experience it was worth the pain

I'm a really new grounded player, but I was REALLY hyped about the Koi armor after figuring out via a crate that koi scales EVEN WERE A THING (I just assumed you couldn't harm that fat boi in the water after I died trying to slash at it). That along with the fact that armor buffs parrying which is something I find really fun in the combat of the game as of now.
However when you mentioned that the parry window was only increased by 1/20th of a second it made me a little curious. Since the wiki only says that it "extends the parry window by 15 milliseconds" I'd be really curious to see some test footage since in theory, the 15 milliseconds could be applied to the start AND end of the parry window? This would double the effect of perfect block for each of the armor pieces, having a total effect of 1/10th of a second compared to the 1/20th.
I don't have much say since I am really new, and ofc the 15 milliseconds could just be 7.5 milliseconds added to the start and end of the parry window. If anybody knows which scenario is true please let me know :D

Isn't the Broodmother Helm and 2 Assassin's shoulders/legs with a Widow Dagger, literally the highest reliable damage possible? Being beaten only by the "never get hit" unarmed build?

Honestly hard to say for certain but probably some combo of mother demon, fire ant, assassin and widow armor depending on weapon choice. Just stack a bunch of really good debuffs
Side note comment, but this video just got me thinking.
Build enabling armor sets and weapons being gated behind late game bosses is kind of stupid. You want to play grounded as a "mage" (candy staff)? Too bad, because you won't get it until you are basically almost done the game. You like the idea of the "bard bow" build? Again, you get it near the end of the game. Bomb glove? Same thing, etc. etc. I really truly think they need to implement a TON more variety in T1/T2 and focus more on a progression of power for those builds as you make your way through the game. Perhaps a 'Monster Hunter' like gearing system would make more sense here. There is no reason why you shouldn't be able to start the game with a candy staff or bomb glove, or 2H sword, or w/e (a "sprig" or "stone" version of everything). End game bosses should be where you get the final upgrade pieces to get to level 10 or something.
Yeah I've mentioned that early game staves would be cool and also support staves instead of just offence like a staff that heals or one that protects players or buffs them etc.
Yea unfortunately this is how most survival games are and usually just how alot of progression games are.
I'd rather they add more content to hit up with the late game equipment. Even if it meant stretching the story out somehow. Slugs and snails, lizards or mice, etc there's a ton of other backyard common critters to expand with if they can find a reason to with the story. I mean it shouldn't be too hard, we are talking about a story that includes "grilled science", size manipulation and 'raisining'.

I personally love Roly poly armor I have all pieces fully maxed out and I take literally no damage from anything because I use it with a maxed out, mighty tick sword which gives me more life than I lose
Hey is this a good idea at some point if they do have to rebuff stun in some way would this be a good way to do it? Once the stun itself wears off it leaves enemies unable to always land an attack on you for a few seconds so like sometimes when they hit you don’t take the damage cuz they missed?

In woah mode what I do is make clover armor extremely early for extra defense, then kill a bunch of tier 2 bugs using perfect block and make something like spider armor.

What armor should I make after the ladybug armor? I’ve done the red and black anthill, pond, hedge, haze, and sandbox labs. I’m by the bbq spill because I’m trying to make my salt Morningstar. I find that the ladybug armor isn’t that great when fighting the ladybird larvas and I’m having trouble surviving now. Which armor should I strive to next?
Ladybird larva and a LOT of upper yard enemies are weak tof resh so make sure to get one (Mint Mace and rusty spear upgraded fresh are the most popular ones). roly poly armor to help you survive and learn the timings of the attacks of the upper yard bugs. But you can also do that using ladybug armor albeit you have to heal a lot. After roly poly then branch out to your preferred playstyle armor. If you like daggers strive for broodmother/mantis/black widow armor sets. If you like Club, I'd say the broodmother set is still awesome. If you like to be tanky just stay with roly poly and upgrade it to bulky. If you like the Staves, go for the wizard hat and moth armor. If you like bows, wasp queen and moth armor.
Ladybug should be one of the best in terms of defence. You could opt to use the defence badge which slightly reduces the damage you deal but MASSIVELY reduces the damage you take. I also agree with the other reply that getting high damage elemental weapons is key as a good defence is a strong offence

@17:40 if you can use a 2h in a cave with no light, its because you use busted gamma settings or have a monitor that cant properly display the color black. lol Had a friend that would do this is other survival/craft games. Like, night in general and in houses at night was BLACK. Just a bunch of shadows swirling in other shadows. Of course here's him.. gamma slider maxed out to the right.. so for him is wasnt an issue. But its not how its meant to be played. Pegging out gamma is for creative mode users. haha

I was wondering how significant the perfect block window increase from the koi armor was, so I looked it up.
From what I can tell, the normal perfect block window is 0.25s, so with the armor it's 0.295s.
A 18% increase in the window seems pretty impactful to me, especially since i'm pretty new to the game and have trouble perfect blocking things like wolf spiders.
Sure it can help but I also feel like you'll have to change armor later into the game and now you're used to a larger window so you'll get hit more thinking you're parrying

The moth armor set should be A tier its the best range armor in the game. Kills enemies a lot faster. Perfect for fighting broth mother with bow
If you are getting the moth armor before fighting the broodmother then I feel for you. Ranged in general isn't a good option tbh, too slow and harder to block attacks. Can be good in multiplayer but for solo melee is much better.
IDK, coming from games like World of Warcraft, I personally understand even 1% increase in stun as a massive boost. That 1% will stack with other resources; that 1% on top of the stinger spear + Coup de Grass can easily give you a crit in every 3-4 hits--up from every 5-6. That's not even considering if those percentages compound.
I don't think they are compound, also the stinger spear isn't going to be used in the late game. The black ant armor having 1% increase is rubbish because there are much better ways to boost crit and armor sets that do more for you like assassin armor
Im still running lady bug armor going into the sandbox, it has kept me alive . I feel like im getting better at combat and may try out some medium armor with better perks now

All attacks have a 25% chance to apply Venom effect dealing 18 damage every 5 seconds over 30 seconds. DoT damage does not stack per armor piece. (From the wiki)

I have had the broodmother armor proc while parrying like the widow. It applies venom with sleek too. This is why i think the broodmother armor is better than widow. And its much easier to get than the widow

I killed my first wolfspider with red ant armor lvl3. It also increases hauling strength so that you can carry 14planks without any mutation or smoothie

Fire ant workers are aggressive by default. Black worker ants are aggressive when on the shed porch. Bees are only aggressive when on the picnic table or wearing the bards tudor
roly poly is s tier in coop, if you use the increased block with the trinket, also taunting in a boss battle is very good, in conclusion tons of block so need to perfect block with a shield (which is extremely hard to do against infec brood anyways) and the taunt affect, its actually a 50% increase so it is noticeable

It has weird armor numbers compared to other sets. Some parts like the helmet have really good defence but the leggings and chest are much weaker
He said the wasp tutor will make bees angry at the piknik table. Aren't they always angry at the piknik table though? Or do they just hate me. I swear there's always a group of 2 bees ready to gank me when I cross that bridge to get to the side of the table you use to climb to the top.
They are angry at the picnic table as they are defending their territory. When wearing the tudor they become angry everywhere. Granted you don't see bees very often in other places but if you use a zipline which goes past them then they will attack you

2 things, 1 bee armor does increase range damage. 2 why would you want to move faster when hitting? It's called kiting... where you run the mob (bug) around while you shoot out and out can't do shit. 😂

They really need to do something for the armor and weapons like make a new Mechanic where you can upgrade teir 1's into teir 2 gear and teir 2 gear into teir 3 gear. Like what if i want a teir 3 bee armor set or bee spear? Or a teir 3 ladybug set or koi armor set?(Obviously some items you wouldn't be able to upgrade like teir 1 and 2 axe's and hammers)
This wouldn't really work because the whole point of the progression system is to change to new armor sets that are higher tier. Sticking with acorn armor until the end of the game would be a bit boring

@@Paraly5er Well it depends the 20% Defense reduction that the Koi armour offers is massive. So much so it's in par with the damage of Fire Ant and potentially stronger.
But it all depends on how much you perfect block. If your block percentage is 0% then it's absolutely awful, if it's 20% then it's decent, if it's 50% then it's probably the strongest Tier 2 set, if it's 80% then it's stronger than most Tier 3 except Fire Ant and if it's 100% (Unrealistic I know) then it's the strongest Armour set currently in the game.
Only thing that holds it back is that it's a lightweight Tier 2 Armour so fighting something that does a lot of damage in one hit like the Mantis is pretty scary but against the other 3 bosses it's amazing.
