The reason Burnie filmed this vlog like this: 20% a way of relaying his wisdom to the masses 80% an excuse to show off his perfectly clear and spherical ice.
Thank you Burnie. As an independent content maker these vlogs really help and mean a lot. I have been a fan and follower for almost a decade now and even got to meet you in LA when I was first starting out years and years ago. I'll never forget how nice and encouraging you were to me that day and it's a memory I always carry with me when the not so fun times of youtubing happen.
I have been LOVING these just like “one on one” chats you have been doing with the vlogs. Like the saying yes and saying no ones, and the motivation and now inspiration ones. Very cool to see your perspective on this type of stuff. :)
I'm really going to miss getting new Burnie vlogs, but I really appreciate the ones we have gotten this year. This is probably my favorite vlog for the year because of how much truth Burnie puts out there. I'm always inspired to write or think of things I could do in the near future to make a name for myself out in the real world. Thank you, Burnie and all of Rooster Teeth for always being a great company and having the best community.
Hey Burnie, I'm from The Netherlands, I hope you realize that you and the company you started are to me what Starwars is to you, a source of inspiration. I grew up listening to the RT podcast and now that I have moved to Australia I can notice the influence you have had on my humour and my ability to fit in with a new, English speaking, culture. I cannot thank you enough for that and I hope you continue to take on challenging projects to inspire me and surely many other fans.
Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it. - CS Lewis
A hallmark of good leadership is abandoning managing people in favor of creating community by casting a vision. You (Burnie) are really good at that; rallying people around a cause or a culture. Instead of looking for talented employees, extremely talented people seek out Rooster Teeth, because of good leadership. A great company you guys have built and you'll continue to see success as employers and creative professionals as you continue to be a beacon of expression in a crowded space.
Awesome that you Honor Monty. i live in Singapore (Hey one day i might meet you guys), an introvert n gone through depression growing up. But you guys bring the Light that i needed during those times n now. Much love to you RoosterTeeth!
Been following you guys for many years, watching you grow from then to now has been a delight. Everything you say in this video has shown through your content and actions through out the years. Love this video.
Very inspirational, I tend to write a lot and trying to come up with original ideas stresses me out a lot. But looking at it now, I shouldn’t worry about that. It’s ok to take inspiration from others. Thanks for this videos RT!
You can see how motivated and emotional he gets about talking about things like this at the 2:00 minute mark. You're great Burnie you helped start something that grew to become bigger than anybody could ever imagine. The community you guys created is incredible and the content you create is always something to watch.
This has to be my favourite Burnie Vlog's to date. This was very important to hear and i always love to hear stories of the great Monty and how his brain worked. A masterpiece of its own. Thank you.
Thank you for the vlogs Burnie! I've been a fan for over ten years and you never fail to make me smile. I thoroughly any time I get to hear more about Monty. I miss him.
Honestly, this is may be my most favorite video/vlog from RT or even Burnie. This inspired me as much as it had drawn me to tears of happiness that I'm willing enough to go through what ever struggle to get to where I need, no, to where I want. Even if I may not join RT like the fanboy I am... I'm willing to try hard enough to put my work out there and make people happy or even inspired with it, thank you for this Burnie!
As a writer, artist and young man with a full time job this is exactly what I've needed to hear. I haven't touched pencil to paper in months, and I just started focusing on my writing again. This even rekindles the fire of my work ethic as it's been dying down, because I'm getting tired of my job, it's wearing me out and I need more money. Thank you Bernie. I hope to maybe one day work for RoosterTeeth. I even have a RWBY FanFic I have all planned out in my head and I hope to make it a short comic, but I haven't gotten past chapter 2.
Being an artist, Rooster teeth has always been a huge inspiration for me and I really appreciate these Vlogs Burnie. Learning how you help build this business to where it is now really helps me chart my own path. Again, thanks a ton
Hey Burnie, I was wondering if there have been any regrets in your time at RT? Have you ever missed an opportunity and regretted it, or even followed through on one and wished you hadn't? What was that experience like, did it feel like a flop or a failure? And how did you rise or learn from it? It seems like people on the internet (myself and my fiancee included) are always afraid to fail...... And it stays that way way right up until they aren't afraid anymore for some reason and they follow through with a project. And mostly we see the successful projects in the "trending" sections of the internet. But what about the things that didn't quite pan out? Or the things that didn't quite land correctly? I would love your perspective on failure, regret, and learning from those experiences.
You should make the set of values into a poster or something it sounds like a really cool thing to have on my wall to look up to and remind myself everyday!
I really needed to hear this. I felt my ideas of creating would be to boarder line. Thank you so much burnie thanks to you and this inspiring video, I'm going to do my best to do and create anything that I want regardless if its original or not
Great vlog Burnie I must say that I will be sad to see the vlogs end as I very much appreciate your perspective on these abstract topics of inspiration and motivation. Stay awesome mate
I've watched all the vlogs and this of the best solo vlogs. I'm disappointed to see it go away, it was a great year for you guys. I can't wait to see where you take this in the future now that Ellie is at the helm.
Hey Burnie, could you possibly talk about upcoming jobs/careers with Rooster Teeth? Maybe an entirely different job that has come up to facilitate another project/idea/show? Would love to properly hear about what the company needs to continue to grow and meet your vision.
Hi Burnie, thank you for this. As a creator and someone who has been dreaming her whole life to go into animation, inspiration has pretty much shaped me. Monty has been one of my biggest inspirations with how he saw the world and his beliefs and views. Recently I've been really struggling with everything I create because it's honestly just difficult, but this video has sorta kicked me back into the mindset to get back into it. Thank you. Lots of love from Canada.
What you said about Monty’s description of inspiration has seriously changed how I see it now too. Thank you for telling this story, it has made me feel a lot less afraid of the ideas I though of being deemed “stolen” or “copying”, I’ll keep this in mind in future 😌
10:10 This is exactly why I go to see big box office movies more than once! The first watch means less to me in the long run than the second, third, or sometimes fourth. I see things I missed on the first run and take in the clues, allusions, foreshadowing moments with more detail after having seen it once before. I never decide if I disliked a movie or not until I've seen it at least twice.
I highly doubt anyone is gonna see this but what the hell, why not give my thoughts on the vlog as it's sadly ending. Over the past year or so that this vlog has been going, I wasn't a regular viewer. I didn't make a point to watch every week, I will admit. But every so often I would see a vlog like this one that had a topic I was interested in and maybe would be something I could learn from. One of those that I actually learned a lot from was Discipline vs Motivation which helped me frame my own point of view on the best way to get up out of bed every morning. So as a long time fan of yours, I just wanted to say thank you so much for trying to just give another little something to everybody watching. I really appreciate the work you put in and I can honestly say that you, Burnie, are one of my biggest role models today. Super sad to see the vlog go, but I understand the reasoning in doing so. Thanks and keep up the great work, Burnie.
Thanks for this volg, I have watched all of them and as a want to be creator I feel this one helped a lot. I do feel you could go deeper and help creators feel like they have a chance in the current flooded market as you stated.
I came into this video expecting some kind of patronizing holier than though monologue just based on the title and intro, but I was pleasantly surprised, you're really wise and I gained from this video. Thank you
Could you speak about how you guys felt and what major experiences occurred when you first got the company rolling? I'd like to hear the nitty gritty of it, which I don't feel i really hear a lot. Thanks for everything you do and everything that RoosterTeeth does! You keep me smiling through the hard times.
As a growing musician these vlogs have been a great inspiration for me to work on my own material and find my own voice. Thank you! I think instead of asking you what I want to see in the next few vlogs I want to ask "What do you want to see in the next few vlogs?"
I REALLY would like to see a run down of all the technical stuff cameras, lighting lenses and whats used for what to get an idea as well as learn a little more about cinematography in the process
thank you for this video burnie :) i remember when i would skip drunk tank podcasts cuz you were on them, but now i skip videos if you are not in them. So cheers to growing and maturing as ourselves and always staying open to new possibility :)
I love the experience vlogs that Burnie does. Most of the stuff can be entertainment so it's a nice change of pace with something a bit more serious and applicable =P
Iremember a lot of this from your speech at PAX Melbourne. It was helpful than and it's helpful now! As for Monty in particular - He inspired me to go back to school to study 'digital media'. So yeah... ~JD
God damn I wish I had a job at rooster teeth. Burnie and the guys seem like the best bosses, and the company seems like such a positive work environment. If only I wasn't a 15 hour plane ride away in Australia. Going to miss these vlogs.
I've been watching u guys sens almost the start idk why every vid isn't at like 1 mill u guys are almost my life and my dream is honestly one day being able to do voice acting for u guys or some how be apart of the thing that helped me threw alot of bad things

Wonderful advice, I can use this to help with my own work and add it to my discipline to make content better and push myself further. Thank you, profusely thank you.

thanks dad for the inspiration
Pinstripe Legion mutt
This perfectly reminds me of probably my favourite quote ever: "Everyone dies, the goal isn't to live forever but to create something that will."
But why
But nothing lasts forever.
I heard Monty and a tear formed in my eye. What a crazy amazing person he was.
Thank you Burnie. As an independent content maker these vlogs really help and mean a lot. 2:50, not only is Ray front and center in his purple twitch hoodie, but there are three Gus's. That's hilarious.
I'm really going to miss getting new Burnie vlogs, but I really appreciate the ones we have gotten this year.

RIP Monty. Even to this day, your work continues to leave a mark on everyone it touches.

250+ employees 52 weeks a year if 1 employee did a 1 off weekly vlog that would be 4.8 years of vlogs. And I would be ok with that
This has to be my favourite Burnie Vlog's to date. This was very important to hear and i always love to hear stories of the great Monty and how his brain worked. A masterpiece of its own. Thank you.
Burnie is amazing. What a great episode.
This was uploaded on my 18th birthday and it's just what I needed
Thank you for the vlogs Burnie! I've been a fan for over ten years and you never fail to make me smile. I thoroughly any time I get to hear more about Monty. I miss him.
I always get chills every time you mention Monty.
Bernie Vlogs are awesome and seem to bring out a lot of personality you might miss otherwise
Really really going to miss your vlogs. I look foward to them every week :(
Thanks so much Burnie. I’m super gonna miss these vlogs
Great vlog Burnie, sad it's all coming to an end soon but I appreciate the advice/wisdom you have shared. Hope the good content keeps coming :)
These Vlogs Have to be the best Vlogs on UA-cam right now, please dont stop Burnie.....Please x
I really enjoy Burnies’ voice. His meter and tone are perfect for public speaking. He’s certainly got the hand movements.
I'm gonna miss these vlogs so much, man. This was the perfect advice I needed right now. Thanks Burnie.
Thank you for sharing this Burnie. It puts some things in perspective for me. Thank you.

AdmiralTy Funk There is also a Ray
Isnt it Gav and Michael in the center of the back-row?
Jesper Andersson omg ya I swear they weren't there before haha
Thank you I was wondering if I was nuts!
Thanks for the motivational speech Burnie... I always value you sir.

I have so many problems with this thanks for the chat and all that you do
I love these 1 on 1 vlogs Burnie! i hope you continue something like this in the future!
How has the dynamic at Rooster Teeth altered from way back when to now?
Is there anything that worries you about Rt's massive growth?
Thank you Burnie for the inspiration this helps me and means a lot to me
You all do something really incredible at Rooster Teeth. I find the whole institution to be an inspiration, so don't let up
Another fantastic piece of advice from the father of the Internet!
Happy Holidays to everyone reading this
Have a Merry Christmas Burnie!
I am really going to miss these vlogs.
Miles and Ellie together in the same shot
thanks burnie
More wisdom from the dad of the internet himself keep up the great work and thank you for sharing your wisdom with the world!
Will be going back to your last vlog since you said it talks about Resolve vs Motivation. Resolve being the thing I've realized
I've been missing.
Thanks for this volg, I have watched all of them and as a want to be creator I feel this one helped a lot. I do feel you could go deeper and help creators feel like they have a chance in the current flooded market as you stated.

Please do a vlog on how you deal with stress and worrying 🙏🏼
I love how the last few Burnie vlogs have just been sitting down with the Internet's dad and him giving you a talk to help you get through!
love u burnie

Thank you
Con of Throne's is in Dallas this year. It was in Nashville last year.
yay
This is going in my inspirational playlist. Thanks for the good words, Burnie.
I've also added "meet the RT guys at their Texas site" to my Apocalyst.
If you are planning that for after the Apocalypse, you'll have to get through Ellie to reach Burnie... better start training.
I think I remember you saying these vlogs will continue, done by other RT staff, and that's really great, but YOU, Burnie, will be missed in these.
So yeah...

Burnie is a cool Dad, no doubt
Could we end with an evolutionary look back at your time and influence at Roster Teeth please
1:44 God I remember when you showed off the one from last year. What did and didn't come to fruition from that one?
9:57 That must of been an amazing audience to watch with.
Wonderful advice, I can use this to help with my own work and add it to my discipline to make content better and push myself further. Thank you, profusely thank you.
9:00 I find watching at 1.5 speed makes stuff still be understandable thus giving me more time to catch up on things I am behind on.
He said quarter speed, not 1 and a half
I said I.
this is actually great advice I'm going to have to use this when i get behind on videos
The Fish okay cool, that came outta nowhere though so it seemed like you were confused is all
Also so do this at your own risk as this has made me speak a bit faster as compared to most so you have been warned.
I think Burnie has actually become an idol of mine.
I can't tell you how bad I needed this video.
"Hey there Gary, you don't seem like you're having fun today."
"Yeah I guess it's just a bit of an off day for me, haha."
"We gotta fix that! Pack your desk up and be out before lunch! You're fired!"
monty and his amazing fight sequences
Who else noticed the three Guses at 2:44
lol just did right now!
Seeing you set things up, I half expected you to have a pipe, a big antique easychair, and the getup from the guy from Masterpiece Theatre, Burnie. XP ---Should totally do that next time.
In all seriousness, thank you for taking the time to talk to us about this stuff, it actually filled in a few areas for me I've been having trouble with. :3
This video and company inspires me
