  • Ladies with hair loss! Today I'm showing you how I create my hairline and integrate my hair topper (Jon Renau's Top Secret in 10H16). If you want to see more pics of my hairline, check out the post: cornerofhopeandmane.com/creat...
    Using Joan Rivers Great Hair Day Powder (let's count how many times I screwed that up in the video!), I can blend away my sparse hairline and give the illusion of more hair. This also helps to integrate my hair topper to my bio hair. I get the Joan Rivers powder with on Amazon or on QVC.com.
    I wrote about this product recently: cornerofhopeandmane.com/helpe...
    Adding in some concealing product and prepping the bio hair you do have helps to conceal any topper rim, no matter if you are wearing synthetic or human hair.
    P.S. I was doing some filming with a hat earlier so lots of fuzzies in my hair!

    I hope you realize how much good you've done by demonstrating to others who have hair loss that they can look natural with a hair topper. It takes a lot of courage to do what you've done. Thank you for doing us a good deed!

    I bought the Joan Rivers product and it works beautifully! I have blonde hair but grays that creep in soon after coloring. My topper matches my hair perfectly so the grays were very noticeable. I also have the thinning at the temples. Thank you for sharing about the powder, as it saves me from having to color my grays so soon. And since the topper covers the rest of the roots, it's really helpful!

    Great tips. I've been following your videos for a while now. You are one of the women online who really helped me get the courage to start wearing toppers and wigs over the last year. I'm in my 30s, I'm a mom, (and I also live in Texas -i think you mentioned you do too, if I'm not mistaken! ) So, thank you for putting yourself out there. Thank you for all the tips, for diminishing the shame and the stigma, and helping women feel like themselves again. It's not easy having thinning hair at this age, but I'm getting my groove back :)

      Dallas area for me too, moved here a year and a half ago :) Love it so far, trying to strategize for the hot summers though. Got a few shorter wigs and ordered a Nammu swim hat - it's pretty cute over an old topper to go to the pool. Looks sporty like a baseball cap.

      Yes, I've seen those!! And yep, the summers are hot.... I was accustomed when I moved here, though - I came from South Florida. If you follow me on Instagram there's a recent post of me at dinner (like 4 back as of now) with some hair sisters and even MORE hair sisters chimed in. We're going to do a Dallas area meet up soon, so if you're on Insta, comment on that post and we'll hit you up when we plan something!

    Thank you for this link I decided to come here and watch how you fill in your hairline. I actually do use a powder called fill in powder with Procapil that I got on anything that's much less money than Joan Rivers product. My hair is thinning almost as much is yours is on the hairline .. your powder does fill in more densely I believe Than mine however. I think maybe I'm trying to make it too thick on the forehead portion.. I do have only a few sparse hairs below my hairline so I may pluck them before filling in. When I get my black n brown henna it does make a darker base and less product is needed.. but it hasn't arrived;) .. I love the way your toppers look and appreciate your videos.

    Great tips, and thanks for sharing! If the hair powder ever becomes unavailable, try a tinted brown dry shampoo. That's what I used to use, and it worked terrific! Heck...you can even use cocoa powder!

    • @CornerOfHopeAndMane
      @CornerOfHopeAndMane  6 років тому

      Yes! I used one for many years. This is easiest to apply at the hairline, however...less overspray on the forehead. Here's my video about the spray: ua-cam.com/video/ylUNXXvGVCY/v-deo.html

    • @amieshadlu5728
      @amieshadlu5728 6 років тому

      CornerOfHopeAndMane sorry I wasn’t specific enough...You can actually find tinted dry shampoo in a non spray variety. You can sprinkle it into a wide mouth container and use a brush to apply precisely to the areas you need it just as you would the powder. This is the one I used: lafes.com/products/lafes-natural-dry-shampoo-brunette

    I just use eyeshadow! my fave is nyx betrayal single brown matte shadow,stays amazingly well! I've seen some hair powders and they are the same as eyeshadow , ingreds etc, its just more expensive cause of marketing usually. I've never seen this one you are discussing though. but just a tip for someone who can't find that or want something cheaper. I have a level 6 brown, (irl salon level, not a Jon renal level lol ). have you tried a 8/32 color Jon renau? I think you would love it I just got it in Cameron, its beautiful and barely anyone shows it. looking at your real hair I think its close to match.

    I'm currently using Fill in powder by Irene Gari to conceal some of my hair loss. I get my first skin topper on Thursday, I'm excited but nervous at the same time. I just turned 30 but my seborrheic dermatitis caused a lot of hair loss for me in the last year. I just really hope it looks natural. Sadly, I'm currently living with the "family gossip" and would hate for everyone to find out.

    • @CornerOfHopeAndMane
      @CornerOfHopeAndMane  6 років тому +1

      What do you think of that product, +River Song? Sorry to hear about the fam - I think my family would be supportive, I just kind of don't want to talk about it. I hope you're well! :)

    • @riversong9876
      @riversong9876 6 років тому

      CornerOfHopeAndMane It gets the job done, far better than Toopik powder. Because my scalp is on the dry side from the dermatitis, it can look a bit powdery on my bad days. My family is supportive, but she's an inlaw. And before I know it. People I don't know, in states I've never been to.. know all of my business. She's from different generation, back handed compliments are her bread and butter. I've lost a lot of hair since moving in with her. I'm almost sure my dermatitis flare up is stress related. Sorry for rambling on.
      But I'm working with a hairstylist that works with hair loss and is customizing my topper. So hopefully it will help until I can get my hair loss under control. I've lost about half my hair density on top in 2 years 😢. I've always had thin hair so every bit of hair I lost has been very emotional for me.

      Yes ma'am! I'm in this for life, though, so it doesn't bother me. I didn't practice what I preach, which is to sew/glue in more clips and rotate their usage. I have a post on it: cornerofhopeandmane.com/hair/traction-alopecia-bald-spots/

    Thank you so much for doing this video. I also have the Top Secret, but mine REFUSES to lie flat at the front of my head. I've had it for about 6 months, washed it a few times, and nothing helps. Any suggestions?

    • @CornerOfHopeAndMane
      @CornerOfHopeAndMane  6 років тому

      Hmmm...are the clips not grabbing tightly enough? Have you tried using a glue-type (strong gel) product to really smash it down in front?

    • @HeyitstheoriginalKay
      @HeyitstheoriginalKay 6 років тому

      I did try some Gorilla Snot and Got2Be, but they wouldn't stick to the bottom of the topper. (Whatever that rubbery material is.) I think the clips are tight, sometimes too tight and I have to loosen them. Maybe my head is just a weird shape? lol I can really only wear my topper if I wear my hair half up with some fibers to hide the lift from the topper.

    • @CornerOfHopeAndMane
      @CornerOfHopeAndMane  6 років тому +1

      The poly? The clear strip that runs around the base? For me, I have to put a pea-size amount on my head, and then allow it to "sit" for 5-10 minutes before smashing my topper on. The air helps it to grip. Maybe try it?

  • @debbp6693
    @debbp6693 6 років тому

    FYI first of all your beautiful. I hope your wearing a real human hair topper not synthetic, only saying because it kind of looks like a shiny synthetic type of hair.... Also I'm not just saying to save $ but if you go to dollar tree they sell a brown 2 sides one light shade of brown and dark shade of brown. They also sell this awesome elf eye shadow brush that pretty near that same type of brush that your using. They ALWAYS have it in stock and I myself use it works great stays on all day until I remove at night...... Just putting it out there. So don't be discouraged if you one day can't find Joans powder. My opinion it's basically just brown eye shadow. I ordered it once before it dawned on me that it's just eye shadow with a title. Lol
    But if you feel comfortable buying just that, hey no problem whatever makes you happy is ALL that matters.... Stay sweet

      Debb, it's synthetic and I'm under very heavy, direct, artificial light. :) It'll definitely shine.

      CornerOfHopeAndMane I was thinking the same thing with artificial lights. You looked beautiful . Regardless of lights you can use dry shampoo to spray all over the topper even the underside ,so it dulled the hairs especially if it’s new. No you won’t damage it, you can always wash it out. You have to re -spray topper after you shampoo topper though. Great tip for hairline, thanks. At the hairline you can brush a little of your bio hairs out to blend in with topper too.

    Why did you cover the hairline on the part ? I thought the idea was to blend it and make it look realistic. This looks like you are wearing a wig.

    The loudest sign that you’re wearing hair piece is the EXTREME shine.

    People "hair powder" is just brown eye shadow. Lol seriously nyc and nyx also makes great brown eye shadow. Oh "hair powder" jk. Seriously it's eye shadow.

      Yes and no! This is much longer-lasting and doesn't have the sparkle flecks that many shadows do.

      Buy matte eye shadow.no sparkly effects. And it does last I've tried both. Just saying.

      I've tried several brown eye shadows because I really wanted that to work. They did not hold up. I did find some inexpensive hair powder that does, though. Rusk Deep Shine Color Touch Up hair powder. It was less than $10 after tax and shipping. It lasted all day and was WAY better than the eye shadows I tried.

    I can’t stand the scent of the Joan Rivers product; so disappointing!!!
