I'd say, a high larynx alone doesn't cause a nasal tone. Nasality comes from tension in muscles that also happen to raise the larynx. Therefore, the essential goal is relaxing, and learning to sing with a lower larynx requires that. However one doesn't need to sing with a low larnyx to avoid nasality.
When you speak, your vocal cords create sound waves that travel through the air to reach your inner ear. This means that your voice usually sounds fuller and deeper to you than it really is. Therefore, when you hear your voice on a recording, it usually sounds higher pitched than you think it should. Your recorded voice your actual voice, or at least close to it.

When i first Seen this Video it really helped me a lot. I really could sing much better and after 3 month or so further practice I actually got a couple gigs in bars and in front little (up to 80 peraons) audiences. Somehow everyone found it weird that I kept my hands at my cheeks pressing my lips forward. When I explained the technique to them they sometimes even laughed at me... But then I found the perfect solution!! Now I use some invisible tape that keep my lips in that forward position. It's only to see when you're 3 meters close, so I just keep distance! Well, there are only two possibilities: Either the assessment of your voice is off and the record shows you how it really sounds, or the recording / mixing is not good.
I found after listening to recordings of myself singing, that I can really only sing mild high notes. If I try to sing lower, my voice starts sounding very gravel-y. It's *very* unpleasant to listen to. I don't really know how to fix that, but if someone does, please tell me.
Without hearing you, it's not possible for anyone to give a specific advice, because there are many possible issues that could cause an unpleasant tone.

What if the issue is the other extreme? My daughter is 14 and ever since she hit puberty her voice got really deep. She loves to sing and has great pitch but her tone isn't very pleasant. She sounds like she's always singing in falsetto, but it's not a pretty falsetto. Are there any tips for her to be able to sing in a fuller voice??

Interesting, isn't it? I suppose, there is a connection between facial muscles and muscles in the throat. Like blinking with just one eye takes much more conscious effort than blinking with both. In addition, the shape of the mouth alone changes the tone a lot by resonance.

I think it also has to do with the position of your tongue, if it's at the roof of your mouth, it can tend to sound more nasally.
