If you like this, check out Joan Baez version. But I will say that Peter's studio version is so clear and powerful that it is yet the best version that I've ever heard. No dis to Simple Minds in any way.

I absolutely agree......I love most songs by Simple Minds, but NOBODY can match Peter Gabriel's version. Gabriel's version gives me goose bumps every time I hear it.

I agree however there are so many ethnic and religious injustices around the globe in so many countries lead by despots and unstable narcissists. nice sound, nice mix, anthemic......but even with all that, what it fails is SOUL It even sounds like they have sampled the bagpipes from the original....but you feel that gabriel is screaming out the words.....but here, Simple minds never quite lets go......surprisingly disappointing. This kind of backing NEEDS gabriel to take it to the people.......who will care to listen
Simple minds is a very under rated band. They probably deserved the same fame and notoriety as U2

Like the original. But this is better. Beefed up production & Jim Kerr is in fine voice. A long song but does not outstay it's welcome.
