Instead of Aquarium tubing, use regular plastic wrap/ Eventually you'll get a tighter fit. Cheaper and very easy to do and the same effect.
Mark M - This worked perfectly. Great tip. Thank you!
I think someone already said this but you sound exactly like Ethan Klein from H3H3 Productions. Great video!
Thanks! Lol, the only time I've heard this is after doing this video.
The screw tip was genius. I hadn’t seen any other customizers mention it. Works perfectly to get the arms in securely without permanently gluing them in. Thanks!
Bruh why did I think this was H3H3
Haha, idk. But I take that as a great compliment.
Carlos Arjon YA SAME YOU SOUND JUST LIKE HIM
Lol
Excellent job and a great tutorial my friend!
Thanks!
@michael whisman - Thank you SO MUCH for showing off the screw-in technique. My original tentacle mod kept falling apart. Followed your technique today and the connection seems rock solid. Fingers crossed when I'm posing him up and taking pics. Cheers!
That's soooooo awesome! I want to do this so bad but I know ill ruin my doc oc.
Thanks! If you take your time and drill carefully you should be fine. It's meant to be a simple and clean mod.
Also make sure to just have a second figure in case. I usually always do when modifying mine.
Awesome work. I was curious how people were doing this, might have to check my dollar stores and see if I can find those lights.
Idk how everyone else does it, but this is how I did it. I got my lights from China for a few bucks. But they did take a few weeks to arrive.
I literally just discovered this! Awesome work! I'll have to do this once I get the chance too! I think the New Doc Ock looks great but I was very disappointed to see that the arms are not bendable.
Thank you!
Where did you get the bag of money for the figure??
It's a science flask. I got a cast of the prop from CastingCave and painted the cork top.
Where did you get the usb lights
hey man thank you for sharing this video with everyone because you actually inspired me to make my custom doc Ock and I came out really good, I say it came out really good for my first try, thank you!
Do you remember where you bough the lights from? All I can find are places selling it for way too much money, or trying to make me buy them wholesale.
99cent stores or any local bodega
Awesome tutorial. I may need to get a 2nd Doc Oc to give this a try.
Thanks!
Awesome work bro! I'm doing mine now but I was wondering what size aquarium tubing you were using.
Thanks! Approximately 3/16". I got a big roll in the fish section of Walmart.
Cool! Great mod! Definitely trying this when I find a Doc Ock!
Thanks!
I finally was able to do this yesterday and I love it. Thanks for making this
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
I need to buy a modified one
i was gonna do the same thing once I find the Doc Ock figure. Looks like you beat me too it XD, now I have a tutorial to go off of.
👍
Thank you 🙏🏻 very informative and helpful! I will be doing this mod as soon as my Doc Ock arrives!
Nice! Thanks for watching!
Great video and I will definitely be trying this for my self
Looks cool but you need to paint the claws to match the rest of the tentacles
I did not paint the Hasbro claws (yet) but I am painting some ToyBiz claws to swap on instead.
Awesome work: do you think a similar route would work for omega red or would the tentacles be too thick at that point?
I don't have Omega Red, but I heard from a friend that these would be too large.
dope if i get a doc ock i might have to get this done.
I think this Doc Ock is packed 2 per case, so he shouldn't be too hard to get. You might wanna grab some USB lights though before their prices go up.
I would love to se a Dr. Octopus figure that can stand with the tentacles like in the show
I love this, Michael! Great work!
Thanks Rob!
Really good idea
Thanks!
Simple yet Effective. 👌😉
Bro ur so brilliant
Cool tutorial, thanks for sharing! 🤓👍🏼
Thanks!
great job!!!! hats off to you my friend!!!!!
Thank you!
Michael Whisman no problem 👍
great tutorial. Boog sent me. Totally just subbed! :)
Thanks!
Awesome, thanks man!
Really cool.
Thanks!
Great video like always
Thanks!
You used a screw to create a thread but how did you put the metal piece into his back?
I screwed/twisted it into the hole. That's what the threading is for.
Wow this helpful thanks a lot!
Nice, I'm glad I could help! Thanks for watching!
Michael Whisman np.I subbed!
Awesome, thanks!
Awesome
Thanks!
For the aquarium tubing should "standard" tubing be used?
Like this: www.amazon.com/Lees-Airline-Tubing-8-Foot-Standard/dp/B0002APXOG/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1538631516&sr=8-7&keywords=aquarium+tubing
Eh... I am VERY reluctant to drill into the figure. I don't want to risk ruining it. Not sure how much Doc Ock goes for now, but I'm guessing he's no longer available at retail cost. I'd feel a lot better having a backup figure just in case.
Where’d that bottle come from?
The black bottle? It is an old cast I got from CastingCave years ago. I don't know where the original is from unfortunately.
This is great thanks man. One question tho what size exactly is that screw?
The drill bit is 3/16". I'm not sure exactly what size the screw I used in the video is, but you can use 3/16" screws to create the threading without stretching the peg hole.
Great Dude! Thanks
No problem, thanks for watching!
What screw size did you use?
Pinoy Gamesta 3/16"
What is the name of lamp that you use for the arms?
There wasn't a brand name, they're generic metal posable USB lights from China. I got mine from eBay.
Michael Whisman thank you so much i must check on eBay because I can’t find it at stores
I just got my wires through the mail. The tubes don’t fit over the wire even though I got the same one you did in the video according to the comment I found on where you bought the tubing.
Great job. What size bit and screw did you use?
Thanks! 3/16"
Was stripping the usb and lights portions off the wire as annoying as I think it will be? That's the main concern I have that's preventing me from attempting this.
It's very easy, you just twist the ends off.
Michael Whisman
Awesome. Thanks a bunch, man :)
I am so going to do this to my dr oct
👍
Did you also paint the claws to match the metal bendy wires?
I did not paint the Hasbro claws (yet) but I am painting some ToyBiz claws to swap on instead.
I have ever single thing needed except the usb lights I can’t find them anywhere
Search "Bendable USB lights" on eBay. You can find them really cheap from sellers in China.
Hell yeah chief!
Thanks!
Any chance you have a link to the lights you purchased?
The China sellers on eBay are constantly changing the listing so I don't have an exact link for everyone. But you can search "USB bendable lights" on eBay from international sellers and should find some.
They're offered on Amazon as well for relatively cheap. Not as cheap as eBay, but if you have Prime you'll get them faster and if there's a problem with one you'll have Amazon's help getting a refund/exchange.
Thanks, good to know.
Where do you get aquarium tubing? Pet store?
Walmart, in the Fish/Aquarium section.
Michael Whisman ty for the help!
Michael Whisman oh and where do you get the USB lights? Awesome work man!
Search "USB bendable lights" on eBay from international China sellers and you should find some for cheap.
Did you put screws on the end of the tentacles? Or they just threaded in there ?
Just threaded in there. The screws don't stay on/in. Just used to help the tentacles grip into the figure better.
Hey I'm thinking about doing this custom and was wondering what size of screw did you use?
3/16"
@@MichaelWhismanACBA Thanks!
Seguindo seu canal, muito legal boa idéia, visita meu canal de customização também!
Obrigado!
Do the aquarium tubings have to be a specific measure or can you send me a link to the ones you used? Thanks in advanced.
I'm not sure on the exact size, but around 3/16". I got a big roll of it in person from Walmart for a few bucks.
Do I have to use the same exact lights your using or can I use something similar to it.
So far just need to find drill and drill bit and I have mine done but I just glued the claws and the tubings never fit I don’t know what tunes you used but Walmart is too small
So wait there are threads on the end of those lights?
Christopher Leusner was wondering the same thing
Sort of. The entire piece is twisted metal bands, so that twist acts as a natural threading.
Michael Whisman awesome thanks Michael. Apprecaite I might try this if i ever find this guy
know one would have to do this if hasbro would of gave him bendy wire arms. Seems like alot of work im ganne use my toy biz doc ock arms, i have him on a old toy biz clear stand i hope i can put him on to it with the toy biz arms.
The Toy Biz ML Doc Ock tentacles do fit in the peg holes, but they stick out a bit. Check out Craig Warracks review to see:
ua-cam.com/video/vFGAVT8k1ZQ/v-deo.html
It'd work...if you only intend on having him stand on his two feet. I tried giving him the pose that Craig Warrack did, but unfortunately the two lower tentacles don't like to cooperate with me and keep falling out for no reason.
I'd love to do this but I'm worried about ruining the figure. Could anyone share how easy this is to do? and do I really need a power drill?
You don't need a power drill per se, you can use a hobby pin vice to do it by hand. The drill bit is to widen the sockets and create grooves within. As long as you take your time and don't go too deep it is an easy mod. I have done it on my Hasbro Doc Ock as well as my ToyBiz Doc Ock.
Where did you find this lab bottle that you use on the octopus?
It's a science flask. I got a black cast of the prop from CastingCave and painted the cork top.
Very Nice
Thanks!
could you theoretically do this to any figure?
Theoretically yes. I've done this to my ToyBiz ML Doc Ock too.
Dude you sound like H3H3productions
Lol, thanks!
Is there a different technique to put the custom arms in other than drilling. I prefer not to drill my figure.
Possibly, if you can find thinner lights to fit the stock holes.
is it still possible to do this but you can still put the orignal arms on
Once you've modified the peg holes to fit the new tentacles the old ones will no longer fit in snugly. However, you can modify the pegs on the original arms to be a bit thicker and that should work to make them swappable.
@@MichaelWhismanACBA thanks
Where can I buy one??
I don't understand why hasbro hasn't made yet a doc ock figure from 1995 animated show retro card? And they prefer always to realesed a reused? The one from the show has a lot more masterpiece suit and looks a lot better. Then this one with the big belly 🤦♂️
Bro you sound just like Ethan from H3H3
Someone else said that too! I've never been told that before this video. Lol
Michael Whisman yea it’s like an uncanny resemblance to his voice, anyway you earned a new sub today for this quality content!
Awesome, thank you!
What size drill and screw did you use?
I’m trying to find some bendable usb lights but I just can’t find any
Try searching from China sellers on eBay.
Oh ok I found some thanks
What type of usb lights?
What can i use to enlarge the peg hole? I don't have a drill. :(
You can also use a Pin Vice. It's a small hand powered hobby drill tool. You can find them at Hobby Lobby, Amazon, etc.
@@MichaelWhismanACBA yes, thanks for the help! But i am wondering, will heating the peg holes until they're soft then forcing the bendable wire into (with some hot glue in the peg hole) work?
@@MichaelWhismanACBA hi sorry to bother you but may i kindly ask what is the size of the drill bit you used in the video? Thanks!
@@redhunter3327 3/16" I think
@@MichaelWhismanACBA thank you!
I don't think is worthed for you to buy the new 2 pack. Cuz Is just a reused!
Dooooooooope
Thanks!
is there anywhere online where i can find the metal cord thingys? thanks
Andrew Zeng There are several sellers on eBay from China. Search for bendable USB lights.
*customiter*
👍
What’s your ig!!!!!
@michaelwhisman
Ethan Klein is that you
H3H3 ;)
Why is Doc Ock holding booze?
It's a science flask. I got a cast of the prop from CastingCave and painted the cork top.
@@MichaelWhismanACBA booze woulda been funnier. And explain why he's so fat.
lmao, where i live those are expensive, im just going to use pipe cleaners they are easier trust
You can order these on eBay from China for less than $5.
