    You failed to mention work-study to meet needs, and private scholarships as a source (in addition to government and the school).

    You mention "based on mom and dad" but we are divorced and it's my understanding that FASFA only counts the parent who has most financial responsibility and doesn't even count the other parent. And that's even if the other parent is required to pay half of the tuition based on the child custody agreement.

      You are correct! For divorce parents, the financial information is required of the parent predominantly responsible for finances, or who claims the child on their tax return.

    If the military pays my tuition in full, would I qualify for any amount of unsubsidized loans?

      This is a very specific question and i would contact the financial aid office of your university of choice and ask. Do you have need? What is your income? Many variable will come into play here.

      Mom and dad citizenship does not impact students ability to receive benefits from the FAFSA.
