Few problems with that. First, a real chainsaw is HEAVY and when considering you're in a shirt, apron and a latex mask that's most likely going to trap a lot of heat in while you roam around on Halloween night? You'd want something that's going to be less of a hassle to carry around. Next up, real chainsaws are friggin' expensive and when considering these videos are seemingly showing someone how they can make a costume for an affordable price? Spending upwards from $60 to $100 or even higher is not what you really would want to do and finally, notice how I said Halloween night and not a convention? Well there's a good reason for that.
A real chainsaw is not allowed at conventions and for that matter, it's not a good idea to lug one around on Halloween night because you're essentially carrying a weapon. That makes you a danger to both people walking around and for the record if you are acting like Leatherface? You're kind of also a danger to yourself. Yes you could take the chain out but if I remember correctly, it doesn't really matter to cons and of course you kind of take away from the intended effect. Sure it's nice to be authentic but there's a line that needs to be drawn.
