    Great topic.
    A thing about amplitude processing:
Clipping doesn't "make the mix louder"...makeup gain does. It's the same with compression, just without ratios working downwards from peak (hence the term 'downward compression').
Compression and Clipping MAKE THE PEAKS QUIETER. It is all the function is doing(!)
Later down the signal chain, the processor's back-end makeup gain is effectively _increasing the relative low-to-average levels_ to make everything gain in perceived loudness. This achieves the goal of the peak amplitude of resulting signal remaining the same level as the signal before processing.
2nd thing, on terms relating to harmonics vs amplitude:
Fletcher-Munsen curves are also AMPLITUDE-dependent. Clipping is only directed at _amplitude;_ the harmonic changes are artifacts resulting from turning anything more and more into a square wave. And so the by-product of increased clipping is Odd-order harmonics, even though the function specifically aims at peaks.
***Saturation*** is the intentional, specified harmonic addition (both odd and even-order) in the frequency spectrum independent of amplitude.
    PEACE

So e.g adding a Transient processor to regain after it lost in soft clipper. I'm new to amplitude processing

This has been months in th making for me. THANK you so muxch for explaining this and sharing I have been after this sound for about a year doing all kinds of whacky stuff wgen the sound I wanted was just eq and soft clipper I can finally make songs sound loud and bass frequncies reverberate through my track how I like, busywork beats the goat!

Your snare is making me blink every time it hits. Its waaaaaaaay too loud. Get a plugin like smexoscope, to show the actual sound waves.and visually show them getting clipped. Heard someone explain it in 3 minutes, what took you 15 min to attempt

Hey Busy how come you weren’t clipping on your master from pushing hard, did you put a limiter or another clipper on it?

    • @busyworksbeats
      @busyworksbeats  Рік тому

I used a clipper and then to make it louder a limiter but the clipper prevents clipping if that makes sense.
So even if I just had the clipper, it would grab the audio before hitting a certain dB. I’ll make more
      Videos to explain more

Thanks Busy, I have troubles with this
    - I especially have trouble with the bass areas,
I like to add specific bass notes to fill in melodic "holes" (I tend to use more than one bass, one sub area, one a bit above) but I have trouble EQ-ing it to a sonically balanced result .....

Wow I really enjoyed tuning into this Mr.Busy, I’m new to the whole learning from peers on UA-cam type deal and had no idea of the potential amount of concrete info and insight on that could be brought forth in these, with such a modest yet motivating vibe to it all. It was all down to earth and the results are undeniably impressive
Unfortunately I’m an FL mobile user and I don’t think there’s any clipping option other than maybe messing around with gate, limiter, multi band compressor and leveller?
