Seriously…maybe I watch too much true crime but I peeped the detectives game immediately. Either way, I’m glad they did it that way cause they got the confession.
The fact that this woman spent less time in prison than you would get for a drug charge is ridiculous! Yes she was stressed, yes she may have ptsd, yes she was tired and stressed out, however there are a lot of women who have more stress and have inadequate housing, food, or a partner but never hurt their baby. She should be in prison not out to live her life. This little baby only got 5 months of life because this woman could not handle the stress of a baby crying. Really my son had colic and cried non stop for hours for 4 solid months, I never thought of hurting him. I had limited financial mean, limited housing, limited food, but I managed because I had to.
er...postpartum depression is a recognised mental illness. You didn't feel this way because you didn't suffer from this mental illness; it is like you saying you didn't feel depressed by life unlike another person with depression therefore you are somehow stronger than them or more able to cope...your comment is utterly ignorant and ridiculous.
The baby was probably hungry! No wonder she was so fussy. She said she can't remember if she fed her in the morning, and then after leaving her friends house said she put her straight to bed without feeding or changing her 😡
That blew my mind... how do you not know if you fed your baby... and only in the morning!?! That baby should still be eating/drinking more than three times a day... that's disgusting... she's a disgusting human. That poor baby girl. 😢
I commented above... why on earth would you have insurance on a baby!? That shouldn't even be a thing! My kids are 15 and 17 and I've never thought once about taking insurance on them other than medical....
At my old job you could sign up for $10k insurance per child for funeral expenses. I had a close friend who lost a child and it made me paranoid so I signed up for it because I know for sure if anything happened me and my husband could not afford to pay for it. Other than that I can’t imagine having insurance on a child for any other reason
They leave in the morning and she doesn't feed the baby????? At her friends house she doesn't mention feeding the baby, changing the baby. She gets home and put the baby down immediately...doesn't change the baby, feed the baby. Baby makes noices and she lays on the couch with McKenna. She asked the nurse did I kill my baby. I wouldn't even be able to talk much less use that word. She's incredibly detached from the baby.
Because they are trying to get a confession so their game plan is to act sympathetic and understanding. Meanwhile, they feel sick and angry and would love to beat her. In other words, it's the game they play to get a confessioon.
Like the person before me commented, everything the police do/say is done intentionally. Confessing to a crime when people are being understanding, even giving you an "out" is much easier than confessing to people who are outwardly hostile and chastising you before you make an admission. Those investigators are NOT on her side in reality. Still feels infuriating to watch, I agree with that
IT IS AN INTERROGATION TECHNIQUE! Why are there so many comments about this? Does this happen to be the first true crime video with an interrogation that 80% of y’all have seen?!?!
Who laughs and giggles after your baby died. Any mother that walks in and suggests the cause of death is problematic. Focusing on insurance payout and not the loss of your baby are just horrific.
Exactly! I wouldn't even care what I looked like or how I was dressed. She looks like she took the time to shower etc. before going in for this interview! I can't believe she has been released!
Right I could understand if they needed to pay for the funeral (those are CRAZY expensive) but she said they were doing fine financially she just wanted to put it toward a new house!!!! Pure evil!!
@@snowwhite2524 I had life insurance on my kids. Mostly because our 2nd son died when he was 10 months old and it was difficult for us to pay for the funeral. Our families helped us pay for son's funeral costs. Due to that experience, we did have life insurance for our living children and we took it out on our youngest when he was a baby.
@@snowwhite2524 Its not as messed up as you're trying to make it out to be. Sadly babies and children do die. Nobody likes to think about that, but it is a fact of life. Because of this plenty of parents set up life insurance on their kids. So that in such an unfortunate horrific event the parents would be able to pay for their childs medical bills and would be able to afford to lay their children in peace without having to worry and stress more on the cost of he services. Gods forbid you or anyone else would have to bury a child. But I'd imagine the last thing you'd want to think about is not being able to honor your child and give them a proper burial due to financial restraints.
I'm judging, I'm judging real hard, she's a baby murderer, they are being way too gentle, I understand their job is to get a legit confession, but they fed her the entire story.....
Could not agree more. Baby killers are the worst of the worst. The way they talk to her you might think she killed her parrot or something. A mom killing her baby,I also judge. Killing your baby-we should judge. Very strange interview!!!
Yet it comes out now that at the time of this interrogation the babys autopsy was not finished. They have found that she actually passed away from SIDS and the woman's conviction has been overturned
The second that she said "what's that mean" when he said the baby was smothered i knew she was guilty. You're a coastguard and trying to say you don't know what that word means? 🤦🏼♀️ You're worried about insurance for a new life while your baby is gone. Smh awful woman
Right like she doesn't know what smothering means. She knows she pushed that poor baby's head down so hard she left a pacifier imprint. This whole interrogation makes me sick to my stomach.
Just by these detectives basically giving her an alibi, I’m not surprised. They talk like they feel more sympathy for Kate and her “struggles” and not the baby.
The reason for her getting a lighter sentence is because she had reached out to doctors and counseling before her daughter’s death she had been trying to tell them she was struggling!! They didn’t realize things were this bad!! That is why in the interview it’s stated there is more than one person responsible!! She had tried getting help!!! It’s documented!!
That's a classic sign of PPD/PPA and even PPP. Thoughts of doing something awful means you need help before those become worse or something happens but isn't an automatic indicator someone is an awful person. Maybe don't act like people choose for those to happen because then people with those thoughts don't get the help they need in time because they're afraid someone won't understand and will just take their baby.
Then you're going to have to explain why the conviction was overturned because she was found to be innocent. Human beings are complex and don't fit into binary behavior patterns like you see in movies and television.
@@bargaintuesday812I’m pretty sure accusations of killing your child would incite more of a reaction than she had. Read her her rights and accused her of killing her child gets no reaction? Yeah, no.

My Son had colic for 9 months. He cried all day It was so hard. I used to have family come by to give me breaks to sleep. It was very hard but I got help. He now is 23 and still has stomach problems.
Have you even thought that she'd paid for the funeral out of money that was saved for the house, so the insurance was replacing those savings? Up till this point, it was a SIDS death so why would it be odd to ask about the insurance? That is what it's there for. Why is that so hard to understand?

My mother had to bury my baby sister. It's not cheap. The reality is most folks don't have an extra $8000+ laying around for a funeral. It's odd that being financially responsible is a foreign concept to you.
Just FYI, since I was in the Navy and lost my preemie baby 6 days after her birth, that once you add them as your dependent, the military gives you life insurance for them. I believe it was $10k, which helped with the burial costs/tombstone.

Saying you have plans for the insurance money already just screams guilty. This is so sad.

I agree!!! I thought that immediatly
Mothers who test positive for THC are treated worse than this. Why are they babying her?
Because they are trying to get a confession so their game plan is to act sympathetic and understanding. Meanwhile, they feel sick and angry and would love to beat her. In other words, it's the game they play to get a confessioon.
Like the person before me commented, everything the police do/say is done intentionally. Confessing to a crime when people are being understanding, even giving you an "out" is much easier than confessing to people who are outwardly hostile and chastising you before you make an admission. Those investigators are NOT on her side in reality. Still feels infuriating to watch, I agree with that
What would you rather they yell and scream or waterboard her for a confession?!

@@snowwhite2524 Its not as messed up as you're trying to make it out to be. Sadly babies and children do die. Nobody likes to think about that, but it is a fact of life. That's a classic sign of PPD/PPA and even PPP. Thoughts of doing something awful means you need help before those become worse or something happens but isn't an automatic indicator someone is an awful person. @@luckyshooter6431 I realize that sir, but surely she doesn’t believe it.
She has the nerve to say i would never ever hurt my child , while she is sitting there being investigated for the very same thing that she just said she will never do .
Devastating, “I feel bad but I’m not a terrible person.” Uh ha whatever you say lady. That precious face, didn’t deserve this 😡
democrats say believe all women
@@BroncosSUCK1980 the k*ller mother was openly repubIican & prolife, still how does this tragedy relate to politics? Are you okay?
@@BroncosSUCK1980she’s a republican like you
She only said she didn’t want to be away from Gus , her husband. She NEVER said ANYTHING about her daughter ! Sick
Swaddled and laid her face down? That's negligence on top of murder
It was SIDS and she’s free now
@@goodpumpum656she caused the SIDS by swaddling her own 5 month old . SIDS at 5 months is pretty rare too
@@goodpumpum656 No, it was not SIDS. It was intentional smothering!
@@flowernbloom6727 sure and you are so much smarter than all the educated people who decided to let her go free
@flowernbloom6727 how do they prove that, though?
Last thing I’d be worried about is the insurance money from my child’s death..
Depression doesn't make you want to smother a baby! Thats called evil
Exactly!!!!!
Or PPD. Which she was diagnosed with but ignored sadly .
@jmparsons7331 only evil makes you torture a baby. End of story
The coddling of this woman is disgusting. She wanted to do it, and so she absolutely did.
💯yep
This is going to be a tough watch. 😢
Poor baby....
I don't understand this......
It’s hard to comprehend
Selfish
Immoral
& not very intelligent
Society is breaking down. It's just going to get worse.
I bet you're one of those women who judge women for saying they dont want kids. STOP DOING THIS. NOT EVERYONE WANTS THE BURDEN!
@@anniesok868she shouldn’t have got pregnant then
Whether you’re guilty or innocent always have a lawyer! And seriously talking about what you would do with the money, I would be to distraught to even care!
I agree 💯 and for her to even bring up the insurance money is crazy!
My child died from sids. I was questioned by police and never took any legal advice. I didn't kill my child or do anything negligent. You don't always need a lawyer.
*too distraught
The police began asking about the insurance and her financial situation, she was just responding to the questions .
Yes the cops are allowed to lie to you and deceive you. They just want a confession. Always get a lawyer.
These detectives need to take another course of interrogating. Because they failed on this one!
I would be a complete basket case. She sits so calmly? 🤔🤨
She is crying quite a bit
@@DMRJ53 yes and her body language is absolutely defeated.
She was found guilty of manslaughter and is scheduled to serve 6 years in federal prison. That baby did not get justice.
They overturned it and she wss released
She was released in March with an overturned conviction. I don’t know why, but judging from this “interrogation”, I’d say it was due to a completely botched police investigation.
@@thestormyporchShe lies so much. Not mom material. Get spayed.
Her demeanor… I don’t believe a word of what this woman is saying.
The moment of silence was pure class and compassion. Thank you.❤
when they told her, the baby was smothered, she said what is that? Like She didn’t know what it meant but then when she found the baby, she asked herself if she SMOTHERED her baby by accident. I thought you didn’t know what the word meant!!! THE LIES
I caught that too.
Who doesn’t know what _smothered_ means lol
@@stephbauer3485me 😂😂😂 I am french and the explanation by the guy wasn't helpful 😂😂

Seriously huh. I guess it's The people who actually do that to thier baby
She said "Did i swaddle her too tight " not smother 😮 don't lie to make it sound worse 😮 I just watched and she didn't say smothered her too tight. Get your facts straight
I've never heard of swaddling a 5 mth. old baby.
It depends on the baby. Some really like it and want it and stay swaddled, others kick out it. But regardless swaddling didn't cause this.
@@sherryholland8564you should quit swaddling a baby between two to four months because the baby is able to roll onto their tummy, but may not be able to roll back over...
You can’t swaddle five month old, they like to move around too much. And she even said she would swaddle her and the baby would try to get free. I don’t believe her. I can’t believe she only got six years.
some of the babies get so used to it they won't sleep any other way
Sounded more like a straight jacket
if one of my kids died 7 months prior, i would be a blubbering mess in this interrogation. i would not be able to speak, let alone let out a laugh. this woman is a disgrace. moms are women, but not all women should be moms.
