I figured that out when I sent my prince into a battle with 1000 rebels and only 100 joms vikings. All my best assassins and a bloody army could not kill that little shit...He ended up being my last ruler since I won the game shortly after he became king lol.
Medieval total war was truly a great game. I have so many memories of playing that game when I was a kid. I remember I held a small castle with 3 soldiers against several hundred. The only survivor was the captain who routed the entire enemy army by himself.
That's incredible! Yeah, that game had some unforgettable moments. I had one battle as the Hungarians where I held off wave after wave of the French for probably well over an hour. I had about 1500 troops defending against over 5500. They did not stop coming, and we did not stop killing. I think I had about 6-700 left by the end.
I loved building fortresses in my territories because I knew they could be easily defended by a small group of soldiers against thousands. If you automatically solve the battle of course it's just maths and you lose, but if you manually play it you get to rout titanic armies with a bunch of poorly armed peasants, it's beautiful
Thank you so much. I just reinstalled Medieval 2 and this music popped into my head and I wondered "why didn't they reuse it in some of their later titles?"
In some ways they did. There were many traders, and the people of Constantinople - at war with the Arabs - had many raids on that land, and they employed many Vikings as their soldiers. They may not have done it as literal Vikings who went home to Scandinavia, but they did go back home to Constantinople with the spoils of their raids and attacks.

I discovered that the old Saxon Gods who were also the Gods of the Danes and of the Norsemen and their worship has always made more sense to me than bowing down to a God who belongs in a country so far away that I have met no one who has ever been there. Thor and Odin walked our Hills,Slept in our valleys,Loved our women and drank from our streams and that makes them seem more like neighbours ...Hail Allfather Odin/Woden/Wotan!!!
Man i wish we could get this music nowadays. The newer games music is pretty good, but i think these are the golden years of Total War!
This, Rome 1, and Medieval 2 are the holy trinity of good soundtracks.
You can thank Jeff Van Dyck for that. Ugh if only they brought him back for new Total War titles...
I think Attila Total War has really good music too. It always gets super fast and intense when you are in really close odds I love it!
Napoleon total war has an amazing soundtrack too. Classical masterpiece.

Fun to see that Denmark and Norway are "working" together :D

A single unit of Joms Vikings absolutely decimating multiple units of spearmen and routing entire armies
Thats Vikings for ya

The smell of Saxon blood in the morning. Nothing beats it.
Jomsvikingar are legendary, and also great in this game!

Remember changing all the wavs from age of mythology for music like this.
This was the attack castle song, it was amazing
first time I played this game and heard this theme when the Viking charged I was like holy shit this is bad ass.
I feel that!!!
"The little pigs will cry so loud, when they heard what happend to the old boar..."

-immediately grabs the axe from garage
This has been in my Winamp since I first played this game in WAV format. Badass song! If only it could be longer.

@@ПётрПавловский-щ1х I can easily give up CDs but can't imagine giving up the actual digital information that I am in control of. So I still do MP3s.

1:23 POWERFUL
I didn’t realise how similar these feels to Rome total war’s music
Same composer :)
imagine if this is what actual Viking battles sounded like.
I always picked the Denmark colors in multiplayer just for the chance to get this music in the fight.
I always loved how this is similar to "Mayhem" from Rome TW.
Technoviking dance xD
This honestly feels like it should have been used in Rome Total War but its so lit I don't even care.
You can here Rome 1 so hard in this
