Thanks for the comment, It is good kit but it can be very pricey…I do like their clamps and have several, the issue is you need to stick to there eco system, as for instance, the losmandy rails will really only fit there scope rings, there not very universal…as they use unusual hole spacings…
@@Astro_Shed Yeah that’s true I like that the Eagle isn’t like the Asiar which witch locks you into the air products and they don’t even make a panel like this or allow you to control one, or a camera rotator :( that’s why I want to switch to the Eagle 5 but again $$$. Their products don’t have that mass produced in China feel though which is nice, the quality is there to justify the price at least
@@Astro_Shed as a fellow astro UA-camr and a new one I appreciate your efforts. I know it goes into it, so thank you for making a video. I’ll give you a subscribe and look for more 👍🏼
The DeepSkyDad flat planel works great and is sized specifically for the scope. I had one on an 80mm APO and have one on my Stellarvue SVX102T. No issues.
Thanks John, yes I had the DSD version on my previous scope, and was flawless, only bought this as the price was so low as the guy wanted rid, so will sell it on now for a good price…👍🏻
The DSD version indeed looks great, and I'm considering getting it. Is the lighting of the DSD panel uniform? Any idea whether it survives freezing weather?
@@naavie hi, thanks for the comment, yes the DSD version is superb and just as good as this one, in fact it has a much bigger brightness adjustment range than this one. As for cold weather I used mine down to about -5 and worked fine…👍🏻
@@Astro_Shed Thanks, good to know! We sometimes get -20°C and colder here, so I'll still check with the manufacturer before pulling the trigger. My main concern is just cables turning brittle in the cold and breaking.
Money for old rope comes to mind. £700 for a tracing board and a servo basically. The weather for most is a bad enough spoil in the hobby. But the made up numbers, oops, prices of the items in this hobby are just too high for what they are. This is whats pushing new comers away.Thank you for a good review. Clear sky's to you.
Thanks for your comments, and you are totally correct, it’s a real shame that some manufactures are pushing the prices too much, I have a review coming of the Deep Sky Dad version of there auto flats panel, and it’s superb and I highly recommend, and the price is almost just 1/3 of the Primaluce version..
I've never looked at buying one & with the price you've mentioned with all the extra bits you'd need I highly doubt I ever will either. Which is a shame as if ever I went fully remote (Which is highly unlikely) like you the Deep sky dad version would be the one to go for. Think I'll be sticking with my £60 Amazon light panel for a long time yet, great video clear skies!!
Yes, I used a £20 Amazon Tracing panel to good effect for a while, just wanted the automation, you know what it’s like when you get an idea in your head, and win a few quid on the premium bonds…😂
@@dumpydalekobservatory oh yes I het about £200 to 250 a month in winnings for the max investment I put part of my retirement lump sum into them Get about 7% return per annum
I've always liked the idea of these flat panels and Primalucelab makes very nice stuff but the price does stop me from getting one, especially with our $NZ dollar which means we virtually have to double your price in pounds. Hope the DeepSkyDad one works out better for your needs.
Hi Logan, I have owned the DSD version before on my previous scope and it was excellent, so hoping it will be the same for this one, this was an impulse buy as the price was so good, but as shown in the video, not a good fit for this set up.
Hi, thank you for your review.I am wondering how it works in a sequence, I mean do you initiate ALTO manually to place Giotto on its place and than start taking flat frames? Which software do you use to controll ALTO+GIOTTO set?
Thanks for the comment It has its own software on the eagle mini PC they supply and also comes with Ascom driver so it can certainly be used in a sequence in NINA or such software HTH
I really don't understand why you wouldn't want to pay 100 pounds for a bigger dovetail bar but you will pay a few hundreds more for another flat panel ? Yeah it's indeed pricey but builtquality is typical PrimaluceLab, the best of the best, really not comparable with 3d printed plastic things I guess that's also why you don't see much Primalucelab gear youtube videos because of the high price range, that being said in professional surroundings Primaluce is more common. For myself I use a separate flat panel from Artesky, yes it's manual but 750 pounds or even 370 pounds is a lot of money for just making flats automated while you can easily make them afterwards.
Thanks for the comments, yes you are correct, but when I sold the `primaluce flats panel, I actually made a £150 profit on it, so that covered half the cost of the DSD version which is not fitted and works great…👍🏻
I don’t know why you don’t see a lot of videos on primaLuce stuff because it seems really nice. Thanks for making this!
