I love my SvBONY 220 dual band filter. Was pleasantly surprised by its performance as well.
Tha is for the comment, and glad you agree…clear skies 👍🏻
I am quite excited about the new SV240
Thanks for the comment, yes I have seen that advertised, but can’t get my hands on one to review….☹ Clear skies..👍🏻
Hola,
It's a budget rig. Heq 5 pro, ZWO asi 585 pro, Svbony 503 102mm refractor with focal reducer and field flattener, sv bony guidescooe and camera. Run everything through NINA.
Ok, so you need the Platesolving with around 15 second exposures just to align the scope on the target. These images are not saved. Then you take your longer 2 or 3 min subs to stack after these are your actual deep sky images. If you need more help please email me at
stewart@astroshed.co.uk
It will be easier than messaging on here….👍🏻
Yes, I'm using Deepsky Stacker for stacking images. But if the scope with filter in place isn't getting enough stars Deepsky Stacker won't process. I've taken up to 5 min subs with matching darks, flats and bias frames.😊
@@jonrobinson1026 this it totally different to platesolving which is what you first mentioned for deep sky imaging to stack you will need 2 minute and longer images, I take 3 and 5 minute images for stacking with narrowband filters
Hi Stuart looks like a nice filter , thanks for the review
Thanks for the comment, and yes it is especially at the low price….👍🏻
Seems to be pretty decent filter for the money Stuart although the ultimate test would be to shoot a target with some bright stars for halos I guess but like you say at this price range it's a bit of a lottery if you get a good one or not. I bought a second hand Altair dual band last year to use on a second rig used it a couple of times & it seems ok but I haven't tried it on many targets yet so time will tell.
Thanks for the comment, yes I agree, and I could have imaged some brighter stars, but wanted to compare to the L-Xtreme data I had, maybe I will do another test at a later date
Clear skies to you 👍
Nice review Stuart! As you say, nothing in it! I do love my Optolong LExtreme, but it costs So much more than the SVBony!!
Great images mate! Clear skies!
Cheers Simon, yes I should never have sold mine, I regret it…☹ clear skies
How about the brighter stars? My Antila Golden narrowband filter yields no halos at all even Alnatik!
Thanks for the comment, yes I need to test on these, which I have done since and it’s very good, but there is slight halos on Alnatak, nit at this price point I am still very happy…as it’s as good at the Optolong L-Xtreme..👍🏻
@@Astro_Shed Thanks for the reply back, my reason is I'm after a second NB filter for a second rig and was researching the market... Clear skies and keep up the great work.
Great review. Thank you. Incredible price.
Thanks for the comment, yes it really is, and on offer ATM so grab a bargain….👍🏻
Great review. expecting
Thank you, much appreciated 👍🏻
great video Stuart! there is a difference with the o111 but they both look great not much in it. keep up the fantastic videos. love your channel 😀
Thanks Tom, much appreciated, yes it’s an excellent filter and I will be happy to use it going forward…clear skies mate…👍🏻
Nice review Stuart. Whats not to like about that filter. Looks excellent with that price point too.clear skies bud
Thanks Rob, yes and excellent price, especially for USA buyers…👍🏻
So far svbony seem very hard work to deal with when trying to buy from them.
Thanks for the comment, I have had no issues, I just emailed them and got quick reply’s, and also there is a live chat on there website which has been very good too..👍🏻
@@Astro_Shed im trying my best with them and as a newbie i might be asking too many stupids questions. I hope it improves astro needs more competition and sbbonyy seem to have good prices and good products. But its hard work so far
@@Astro_Shedive been emailing back and forth with svbony now for a day or two and ive changed my opinion. Im really quite impressed by what they've told me and the speed of response. Just hope the stuff i buy from them lives up to my expectations :)
Zwo duo band can be found for $71, it ha a wider band pass but s also nice. HYO is a knock off of this filter selling for $38
Thanks for the comment, very interesting and all good to know thanks 👍🏻
Can't platesolve with this filter in place. Not enough stars despite playing with exposure and gain settings.. If platesolving without the filter there's no problem. When putting the filter in afterwards Not enough stars are picked up to stack the images. Bit of a chicken egg situation that can't be solved. Can't understand why everyone loves this filter.
Thanks for the comment, many people including me platesolve regularly with dual narrowband filters in place, if you can’t then you need a longer exposure, if you are taking say 15 second solve exposures then this should be more than long enough for a solve, with a standard gain setting….👍🏻
So try upping the platesolve exposure settings, I think i use 15 seconds for solving images during the find and centre option in NINA
@@Astro_Shed Thanks but tried it at 15 secs, 20, 30 etc with various gain settings. How can enough stars be imaged to stack the photos? Many thanks
@@jonrobinson1026 that’s really odd
So what scope, what camera and what software are you using ?
@@jonrobinson1026 platesolving is not for stacking it’s just for aligning the telescope you need much longer subs for stacking about 2 mins depending on equipment
Great review. expecting
Thanks, much appreciated 👍🏻
