- First Round of golf with the NEW Avoda Irons and I have to say, I was impressed with how they performed. The driver and short game were the issues today but some of that is just rust. But overall the iron play was really the only thing that kept the score relatively ok. Really enjoying the new grips as well, never thought I would say I use a Jumbo Max grip... But here we are.

What specs did you get the Avoda's in Drew? Are they the 37" option, or did you increase the length since you're on the taller side?
I went with the Combo set (on their website) at 0.5” long and for the most part, 3° upright through the bag. The LW is not 3° up
@@D_cooper86 If I can ask another question - Are those the Bryson 6 TX shafts? Did you like those the best during the fitting and that's why you got them?
Hope I'm not bothering you! I'm just seriously thinking of picking up a set of same-length Avodas and I won't get to try all the shafts first. I've also got some speed (100 mph 7 iron, 125 mph driver) so I figure you'd be the guy to ask! I'm leaning toward the Fujikura Axioms 125X currently.

Yes I have the Bryson 6TX, wedges shafts to the 8 iron and iron shafts 7 iron and up. I was in the L Series for years and these performed better. Honestly, really enjoy them. The wedge shafts are 10cpm stiffer

How do you like the wedges??? Do they play similar spin rates/distance compared to your previous set?
Haven’t played a round with the new Avoda wedges. They seem nice but will have a tall task of stacking up to the Artisans
Drew - how long do you play your wedges? I'm 6'5" and +1/2" is great for irons, but wedges feel real short. Looks like you play wedges longer and choke down around the greens. Is that correct?
I linked the Avoda website. I have the “Combo Length” set at 0.5” long so I think the wedges are quite long - yes

Not planning on doing reviews, there’s like a million golf review people out there. They’re solid irons, I like them so far
Was hoping you would do an in-depth review of these after I saw you posting about them on IG, I really want to get my hands on. I like what I was reading about them and seeing Bryson tear it up with them has me interested.
Mine are different than Brysons, not 3D printed and no Bluge on the face. So just a combo length iron. But there will be videos on how they’re working and some thoughts on “why” in a month or two

You pulled a rory by trying to hit that lob wedge so hard into the green. Front to back dispersion is unreliable with such a glancing blow at high speed, and you had a critical cover yardage with the upslope.
Are you avoda irons bryson style with bulge and roll and super low lofts?
I didn’t hit any LW hard all day ? But no, just a normal iron from Avoda. Not 3D printed, no bulge

No no, I only played where the tees were set out. Some were way up and some were back (I note it on the scorecard how long the hole is playing)

@@D_cooper86 any differences you’re seeing? I can’t seem to find a ball that works for me. I like spin in the wedges/irons but off the tee not so much. I’m swinging the driver 125-130mph
Do you play the Qi10 Max or the LS? Loft on the Max?
Max. The head has 9° stamped on it playing on “Lower” setting

Well that’s extremely odd. I need to check that. Because there was definitely audio pre upload but it’s off for me too. Pretty much I’m rusty, score wasn’t great but ball striking wasn’t the issue, if I was on a tight course it would’ve been but I wasn’t… I’d like to play more, play better, so excited to keep tweaking the bag and get myself ready to play more more golf
