Best Hagar interview I have ever seen. Love the fact that Mr. Woods actually read Sammy's book in detail, asking as many questions about Sammy's childhood as he did about the VH blowup. And as always - Sammy answered all questions with a ton of detail, humor and heart.

I just finished the book, picked it up at my library, and was blown away by it. I could not put the dam thing down! I never really knew much about Sammy Hagar, never really followed him, and like many lost interest when Roth left VH. However, this book has made me respect this guy for what he's been through and he's just a good soul through and through. Put it this way, nobody can call themselves a Sammy Hagar fan without reading this book.

Thanks very much for this Jeff. I've been a fan of Sammy's since he joined Van Halen and although I have their entire collection, I think they were a better band with him as a vocalist. I am a singer/songwriter myself and I'm so tired of the crap that is presented when it comes to "interviewing" rock stars. This was a pleasure to watch from start to finish because it is disarming yet informative. I love his perspective. Passion must come first. Clearly, you share that outlook. Great job.

Thank you for sharing this interview--for free, to boot. Sammy, you answered so many questions I had about your perspectives so many topics, I really appreciate you doing this. We share a lot of the same perspectives, believe it or not. I got a new book to get, too! I hope I can meet you for a while someday; we'll definitely have to do a little jamming. Never lose sight of the one who's blessed you in this life, it affects not only you but the people you influence. You're an avenue for blessing others because you yourself have been blessed, and I just want you to know it's reached me and inspired me.

Then there's Sammy. Damn, I love that guy! And for all you haters and fuck Van Hagar minions, Sammy can STILL sing. Not only his hits, but David Lee Roth's hits, too. Good interview!

Are you serious? I dig him too but one thing to consider, without the 'entertainer', there would've been no Van Halen for Sammy to join. The 'entertainer' was a key part of a band that defined an era while influencing popular music. Sammy was around during the time that the 'entertainer' made VH1, VH2, Fair Warning, Women and Children First', 1984 along with the other albums but he certainly didn't define an era or influence a generation like the 'entertainer' did.

First saw Sammy on his "3 lock box" tour. They tore it up. The guy put everything he had into that show, like it was his last. Great band, super tight. Sammy scaled the light rigging and sang amongst the stage lights above the band. Outdoor venue's are great for that. He still has that energy though, minus the climbing.

Sammy strikes me as the ultimate example of what a positive attitude can do. He has his beliefs and his personal views about life but I think deep down it is just a positive can-do attitude. How many rock stars do we know that are so honestly charitable? Look up his history of charity and philanthropy and you will see what I mean. He is driven by far more than personal success.

to barret707... i am not going to allow u to denounce GOD.. wheather u like it or not, believe it or not, GOD is still GOD, and very much alive and well, here and now! the issue is, do u want to accept GOD and get to know him better, and let him connect with u? we all have free will. even GOD wont try to force u to do anything u just wont do. but keep in mind, there are consequences for everything. GOD set things in motion, and we cannot change those things.( though many keep trying)..

IMO, even though it's probably all true, Sammy shouldn't have got as detailed and graphic about how bad off Eddy was then(esp since Ed is famous). He could've just explained how Ed was bad off at that time and battling drug and alcohol addiction and that it made him irrational and very hard to deal with, etc. He didn't to have take it to the point of embarrassing Ed so badly even if it's all true. And esp if he had any hopes of them being friends again.
Personally, I've been in many bands and if another member was acting like Ed was then and it broke up our band, I'd still try to be discrete and I def would never go for the jugular. Sammy could've got the same point across without completely "outing" Ed. Most of that should've stayed behind closed doors. Again, esp if he had any hopes of one day repairing their friendship. They could've discussed all that between them when they met again. The truth is, most of that was none of our business.

Well, you know, Sam is a balanced human being, from what I hear. I don't know how you could not work out any issue, for the most part. So, VH in mind, Dave Roth, seems to be unbalanced. Hearing Dave talk, he is out there, not grounded, really kinda strange, just listen to him sometime, he sounds nuts. And Eddie, I see an unstable person, that Al just follows..Van Halen should have stayed with Sam, they were the best band in the world, the Mighty Van Halen. Sammy could still sing, Roth is shot, can't sing to save his life. That's my view point.......bro's, wake up...time is running out, Al, Ed......leif🍁

Sammy, st this point it isn't as important to cut a new CD with anyone as it is to keep affordable live performances going. The festival good feeling vibe of concerts is fading fast. So many greats are dying or unable to play.
Get out there with good musicians, play your own music and play everyone else's too. There is decades of great tunes not being played because the original artist are dead or not together. Play it all.
