Come on mann, this guy gotta have more fame and credit instead of those content creators who are giving out crappy information. This guy been handin out the secret formula of being better at basketball. Respect you bro☝🏿
You're so right in people underestimating how much work you gotta put in for basketball if you take it as more than a hobby. My situation is quite unique in which I went to college without an offer, tried out and actually made the squad but, for this year im basically a glorified practice player until next year when the coach said I can get guaranteed game time. At first, I came in all cocky thinking I could match these guys and in terms of skill for my role, I can but DAMN, the amount of hours of work they put in is insane, team training x3 a day with a lift session around noon and they all work individually outside that and it's just a lowkey D2 school, they can all run rings around me in terms of stamina. Showed me how much time and effort I got to put in to be able to actually get minutes at this level.
Haha, that first college experience is a real eye opener! Most people don't get to experience that so I'm glad you're getting the chance and hope to see you better for it on the other side!
I am a part-time middle school basketball coach, who happens to hoop just for fun, and you just told me what I needed to hear, especially not taking credits for having an athletically gifted player who fell in love with playing basketball. I just happen to be part of their journey. I always struggle with strategies, set plays, and getting the drills that fit our team since I never played actual organized basketball and just the hoops outside with strangers when I was in my teens. I found coaching an individual player to work on skills very fruitful. Getting your tip, I can plan with that player when we are resting or before the training. And yeah, I'll make sure to have the right attitude: Just being happy to be part of that individual's journey.
@@renren_ this is the best way to view it in my opinion. Those players will 100% appreciate the time and effort into them and it will mean far more than any outside credit or validation can possible match. Glad to hear you're taking the time to work with the young ones. The world needs more coaches!
Honestly from the experience i gathered on all these "drills" and what not people post. The drills i do now is simple something that challenges me not too much but also not too little. That and reps. Ball handling is a perfect example. Instead of just doing 50x crossovers and whatnot, i try doing something that makes me loose the ball, wether that means going faster or just doing some movment that i aint used too.
This is the correct mentality. I've done a few videos on this thought process but I agree. Far more beneficial than practicing crossovers 50 times with no real goal in mind.
Have been able to carve out time; love working on fundamentals. Very interested in the mental aspect: how to not overthink all my mechanics; how to be more confident. Great content here.
Coach, can you do a video on how to accelerate as fast as somebody like Russell?Westbrook or Derrick Rose.I feel like whatever I try to do in negative step or try to get past my opponent. It's like I'm moving to water or slower sluggish. How do I get faster with the ball in my hand
I mean that's really just explosiveness and footwork. I did a footwork video which will show you how they explode. But to get quicker and stronger with it you need reps, strength and plyos. I did you a workout video also which should help with that
I swear, every upload is basically the voice in my head manifesting itself into you making videos because you read my mind with more than half the shit you say
Hey coach, i started watching your videos for a few weeks now and im wondering if you could make any kind of video about recovery from injuries and how to improve while being hurt? I’m stuck in that situation rn, and im in the middle of my szn 😢
So sorry to hear. I'm not an athletic trainer or physiotherapist so feels a bit out of my expertise. I would definitely talk to a physio if you have access to one and always remember that healing and getting healthy is far more important than pushing through pain etc...
5:15 yep sounds again a lot like my former trainer. Dude played a couple of games in the summer league and thinks he’s an NBA player and would use that as his marketing tool to basically lie to people. At the end of the day it’s all about gym time that’s uninterrupted. If you can find a court where people won’t interrupt you and you can log at minimum an hour and a half workout every day then you’re golden I think. The problem is finding an open gym. Spacewhere kids aren’t gonna get out of school and start bothering you or if you are a kid getting to the gym before all the other kids get there that’s the tough part. It’s about uninterrupted gym time.
He was already elite and would have made the nba regardless. Not saying trainers are worthless, just saying that is not the main ingredient most people are missing.
4:20 so did I plus I would’ve saved myself a headache from being lied to by my trainer about all his amazing connections that he didn’t want to use on me because I’m a white man. But if I was a white girl or black man you Betcha he’s coming through lol. Anyway, there is no better thing in the world then working on your game by yourself. It’s the best thing ever. I’m gonna miss it when I hit my 40s By the way, I should add I never paid my trainer. I paid him one time $60. Found out that he was only charging me because I’m white but all the other black players that played pro or overseas or in the NBA didn’t charge them anything. Then you try to act like getting me free Jim time was his way of helping me when this guy told me he would help me get a job. OK now I’m done with the gossiping. I could write a 250 page book on this clown that I’m talking about because of all the crazy NBA live stories he has. I had to tell somebody who understands Basketball the only other person who gets the stuff is my dad and he’s sick of hearing about it lol
That just means less people learning from one of the best teachers of basketball on UA-cam, keep the good work up @themidrange, the hard work’s gonna pay off

Ya its very tough to find that space depending on where you're located.
I wish i had gyms like in USA because my country doesnt have open gyms so i have to train in 5° celsius outside
That's intense and I respect that a ton!
