DNA subsequently proved beyond reasonable doubt that Hanratty WAS guilty. He had already been shown to be feeble minded, a liar, an anti social and a thief.
They say DNA matched Hanratty, but they would say that rather than have to admit they hanged the wrong man. Peter Alfont the original suspect confessed to the crime.

Dna evidence can be cross contaminated or planted so not 100%
The whole case was flawed..
