Along side it were 5 boxes of .38 ammunition and some loose bullets. They were discovered underneath a handkerchief. Forensic tests claimed it was the murder weapon used to kill Michael Gregsten. James Hanratty letter to his mother Mary [10-03-1962] from prison.
Переглядів 5319 років тому
Two days before his appeal was heard James Hanratty wrote this letter to his mother Mary. I felt it appropriate to have Eden Kane's classic song "Forget me not" as the soundtrack as it happened to be in the UK top 5 at the time James wrote his letter.

This is the 1995 update to Bob Woffinden's excellent 1992 documentary about the A6 murder. Many thanks to Steve Sinclair for enhancing the sound on this video which I had originally uploaded onto UA-cam 5 years ago in 13 five minute segments.

John Lennon's 1969 documentary on James Hanratty "Did Britain Murder Hanratty ?"
Good Evening, From Wichita, Kansas, U.S.A.
I was told that Bernie played a B- Bender Tele on this song to get that sound that sounds like a steel guitar at times, and I had to look for myself at a live performance to see.
Awww there’s the man himself singing it like no other can. I can’t hardly think that this song was never released as a single but I sure heck played this song and album to death back in the early 70s. It is the soundtrack to my youth.
Bernie Leadon y Randy Meisner, mágicos
Obviously, they had a facial hair contest. Or they were jealous of Bernie.
Spider woman deadliest spider 😂❤
Glenn Frey had great time & feel on guitar too
Did they perform any of their other songs on that night?
Hear Jack Tempchin (the songwriter) sing his version: ua-cam.com/video/8V_ku8sO9VA/v-deo.html
I would love to see The Eagles singing this after Joe Walsh joined. I love the way Bernie comes into it. Joe has a totally different voice/tone to his. Not that either would be better. It would just be great to hear.
It was usually Felder and Walsh together that covered Bernie's vocal parts on Leadon era Eagles. More so Felder as Walsh usually just strums a acoustic guitar and would come in on individual words, "peaceful" (silence) "feeling."
Is this the band that never smiles? Come on !
Not Glens best day!
One thing to say: look at the greatest selling album ever, and look at who the Eagles lineup was. Enough said❤✌️
Does anyone know when and where this performance took place?
Recorded at the BBC studios in 1973
@@jamesjosephmoore5718thank you! That was a long time ago.
I don't believe for one minute that Hanratty was Guilty
Rip Randy Meisner and Glenn Frey 😢
Unbelievable talent
The met is still as bent today as they were back in the 1960, and young east end toe rag is expendable,.
Hair don't make music, but Glenn Fry looked like an uptight prick after he went all Miami Vice.
He was an uptight prick after he went all Miami Vice. He and Don ran Bernie, Randy Meisner and then Don Felder out of the band. Greedy Glen and Don (and Azofff) got more money but at the cost of their friendships and respect from fans. Joe only stayed because he didn’t want to go out in his own again, but they truly lost his true friendship and now it’s a biz arrangement.
Favorite part of the song is when Bernie comes in for the harmony "And I found out a long time ago..."

This song will never grow old. Always and forever Eagles.
Wow! It’s so great to see the founding members of The Eagles in a live performance! This is excellent!!
The ONLY Eagles- the original
makes me wanna grow a mustache and go outside and smoke a fat doobie as the sun goes down
Let’s do it Harry. It’s been a long time for me lol
this hasnt aged well, has it, now that DNA has proven that Hanratty was as guilty as sin
So simple and powerful
Great song
Real music 🎶
"I gave it to Jimmy Page"....🤔 blimey there's a revelation don't say poor old Lord Zoso was in the frame as well 😉
2024 here
👌🏻
Who's here listening this legendary band? Its 2024,& my soul leads me here🥰
I’m here and can’t believe that there aren’t many more 😮
DNA says he WAS the killer "James Hanratty's body was exhumed in 2001 to extract his DNA. His DNA was compared with other DNA extracted from, firstly, mucus preserved in the handkerchief within which the murder weapon had been found wrapped and, secondly, semen preserved in the underwear worn by Storie when she was raped. DNA samples from both sources exactly matched James Hanratty's DNA. No DNA other than Hanratty's was found on the handkerchief in which the murder weapon had been found wrapped. The other piece of evidence tested, a sample from Storie's underwear, provided two different sets of male DNA - one that corresponded to Hanratty; and one which the Court of Appeal interpreted as coming from Gregsten" "
Hanratty asked a friend 'Where would be the best place to hide a gun' his friend said under the back seat of a london bus.
This is completely untrue. About a fortnight before the A6 murder Hanratty and his friend, Charles France, boarded a number 31 bus they had been waiting for. They went upstairs and sat on the back seat. Hanratty explained to France that if he had a lot of stolen jewellery in his pockets he would sort it out on the upper deck of the bus. He said he put the good stuff in his pocket and hid the rubbish stuff [paste] under the back seat rather than on the floor where passengers would notice it and become suspicious. There was absolutely no mention of a gun as France's own testimony on the matter confirmed.
This piece of turd was guilty.
Hanratty was guilty as Hitler was.
DNA DONT PROVE SHIT WHEN ITS STITCHED UP JUST TO KILL SOME ONE THEY STITCH UP FOR THER IDIOCY. THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT LAW SYSTEM AND BRITISH POLICE LIED LIKE THEY ALWAYA DO AND MUREDERD JWMES HANRATTY.. THE BRITISH LAW AUTHORITY WOULD SAY DNA WAS A MATCH..THEY LIED AS USUAL BUT THE REAL TRUTH WILL.OUT SOMEDAY..REST IN PEACE JIM U SHALL BE EXONERATED AND PROVED INNOCENT SOME DAY...
Yet another absolute shameful episode in the history of the BBC. A woman who saw her boyfriend murdered, was raped in the back of the car as he lay bleeding with half his face missing in the driver's seat, who was shot several times leaving her paralysed for life and then was subjected to a program that painted a picture of her as someone who had sent an innocent man to the gallows. Only forensic DNA proved that the innocent choir boy picture the BBC presented of someone who was in fact someone who had been in and out of jail and a worthless scumbag all his adult life was indeed the evil bas.tard responsible. Hanratty took those who fell for his lies for mugs. About the only thing he got right because that is exactly what they were.
Those who defended Hanratty and continue to do so are exactly what he took them for...total mugs !
You follow me lad , it ' ll be alright .
BEFORE the DNA, I reckon, yes, there were doubts, but the DNA, especially the semen on Valerie Storie's underwear is conclusive beyond any doubt. This "letter" is just to assist his parents/family of his demeanour/any disappointment they could have had in him.
Evidence was flimsy
GUILTY
Incompetent Acott: where is your fingerprints you Dumb Axx???
To defense attorney: where is the finger prints? This is 1961…. Where is the forensic evidence? Jury’s deciding on a mish mosh of witness statements that were all over the map!!! Stupid land lady who changed her mind? Whatever happened to proof beyond a reasonable doubt? I mean a bunch of hungry jurors in a rush to execute a man? So so frustrating
“My mother mentioned the room and of coarse he took that room” then why the EFF would she change her mind on the witness stand the bloody idiot after you have already room and boarded hanratty? Do you not know he gets executed if wrongly convicted????
Peter Alfon looks EXACTLY like the sketch !!!
The motive? It was sexual attack of the lady! Like hello????
Do you not have fingerprints? All over the car? He slammed its door. The gun? Where he sat in bus to hide gun? I mean you got a survivor and finger prints and murder weapon and you still get the wrong guy? Some superintendent you are!!!
After all that interaction with the perpetrator she identified the wrong man? How can one person survive and still get the id of assailant wrong?
I met Paul Foot and he really liked John and yoko....
Great channel for anyone interested in the A6 murder. Do you have the Ch4 documentary "Hanratty-The Whole Truth"? I cant find it anywhere online.
He looks more like the sketch than any I've seen, yet the authorities go in an entirely different direction.
