THIS is how you do live performances on the TV. Nothing canned. No autotune. Just great performances. Tim Finn is suck an unappreciated musician. Look at him go on the acoustic! PS. "We'll be back in a couple of hours!" Gods, Carson was great!
YES... CROWDED HOUSE and the FINN Brothers are Extremely Gifted! This was likely a "Thursday Afternoon" taping, as Carson did Two Shows and gave his Crew a long weekend... AMAZING BAND!
What an awesome song, one of the greatest bands of all time, the harmonies of Neil and Tim here are sublime, my favorite CH tune probably and I think this is the best performance of it I have seen/heard. The Finns, what more needs to be said.
Tim’s melodies on Woodface are epic. He knows exactly where to put his voice and how to just let it sit 5% lower than Neil’s lead. Brotherly excellence.
This had to be 1991 with Tim in the band. One of the premier songs off Woodface that feature Neil and Tim's great Beatlesque harmonies. I terribly miss their combined vocals on CH albums, I wished they could've worked out their differences and kept making albums together. They were the Beatles of the 90s on this album.
touring crowded house videos. very nice music. only knew them from their "hits" back in the day, youtube is a wonderful thing for keeping the music alive!
Great song great band as close as we will ever get to a second Beatles.......I am an Australian and I do not know a lot about Johnny Carson or mainstream American T.V but it appears to me thtat the Audience and Johnny really enjoyed them..
Absolutely brilliant ...for me, one of the best bands of all time...I never saw them live back in the day and always wondered how they pulled this song off live...interesting that the main guitar lick from the record is played by the keyboard player. Terrific stuff...nearly met Neil once, but that’s another story
Love this band! My almost four-year-old son is named Neil after Neil Finn (well, and also Neil Patrick Harris, Neil Armstrong, Neil Young, Neil DeGrasse Tyson...)
Does Nick usually play the bassline like that on this song or is he just turned up very high? It seems different - but brilliant. They're so good live. And such lovely people.
Great video of a unique time in the history of Corwded House with Tim on tour. It was cool seeing Johnny C. at the end admit he screwed up the album title "Woodhouse".. RIP Johnny.
I think this would have been a much better choice for the first single off of Woodface. Beginning with the acerbic, "Chocolate Cake" was a major tactical error that probably sealed their commercial fate in America.
fans of Crowded House (and they are super!) might also be interested in the Rembrandts.. I have one of their albums and must dig it out again for a listen.
Les Paul owner here - there's no one way the guitar "should" sound. Depends on the player, the song, the style. Comments like that are just weird tbh. Everything sounds great here
Love this song. And overall - the harmonies from these two! They are the Everly Brothers / Louvin Brothers of their era.
Tim's harmony vocal on this is masterful.
That's a high part now - it's not easy to sing!
Wow that's a tight performance. Absolutely love it!
These two voices, they fit just so fine
Their bass player is very good! :)
They always bring me back in my bittersweet youth.

AMAZING BAND!
woodface is one of the best albums ever recorded.
eggy brain Without question!
One of the many favorites of theirs🥰🥰
Totally nailed it!
Brilliant song; so well arranged, lyrically masterful, and the harmonies…well, emotional. Love this song.
GO NICK!! LOVE watching him do that bass, he's so into it!!
Just beautiful harmonies, drive, rhythm. Love this performance!
Saw them last night in London last night; this was an absolute highlight

Brothers singing together, something awesome to behold.
Nick's bass lines are so funky.
Can’t work out if I like Neil or Tim better...... love them both
Their bass player is very good! :)
Pretty unbelievable that there was a period before this album that he was temporarily out.
One of my favorite songs! Always gives me goosebumps when I hear it!!

This song never gets old! Simply timeless
One of the best performances live from these very talented band. You don't get this quality in today's shit
You do if you listen to rock/metal and know where to look
CROWDED HOUSE and/or The Finn Brothers are Always #Spectacular Live!
With SO MANY #Amazing Tunes!
that is a fucking awesome live performance
That was a great night on The Tonight Show. It's Only Natural and Fall At Your Feet are a killer one/two punch.
They always bring me back in my bittersweet youth.
Must have been one of the first gigs with Mark Hart as supporting musician back then. (1991)

They are the Southern Hemisphere- Squeeze" lots of similarity in the two bands .

Mamibeebah Bachman Smiling!!
The Stuport
Neal Smith? Had to try.
Their bass player is very good! :)
Jijst5 he's the ace in the pack for sure 👍
Nick Seymour. Also front man of another great band, Hunters & Collectors.
Front man of Hunters & Collectors is Nick's older brother, Mark. Talented family!
oops, thanks.
He seems to be enjoying himself

What a great fucking band 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Crowded House are awesome but better with Tim Finn aboard.amazing.
Top ce groupe

I love The Crowd and this song is one of my fav.!!! Thank you for posting.
Underratted band !great tune great record thanx for posting
Can’t work out if I like Neil or Tim better...... love them both
Neil. Hands down.
Two kiwis ,two Melbourne boys, love the vibes.
Also one American, Mark Hart (formerly of Supertramp) on keyboards over on the left. Best.
Killer as always
what a great tune

@ruinawish I'm 25 year on bass guitar, and Nick is one of my all-time faves. All of his lines are filled with fun and funk!
We should have sometimes to think about Tim Finn, good voice !!!
Thanks for posting this!
Qué buena fue y es esta banda.
Fantastic
Nick's bass lines are so funky.
And seriously melodic with it..a unique talent
totally cookin
Peak experience
Totally agree!!! amazing band!!
fans of Crowded House (and they are super!) might also be interested in the Rembrandts.. I have one of their albums and must dig it out again for a listen.
❤ Tim .
THAT is a bass player kids.
GREAT "song" band. Killer songs.
5*****
NZ & Aus. Awesome band.
Great performance. I would say this is more like 1991. Woodface came out that year and Leno was he host by 95.
1st class.
September 11 1991
how's that bass run - in the zone
2:03 is pure pop bliss
Carson pathetically steals their thunder at the end but he had to work at it, the band and the audience were too busy digging on each other.
@dunskie ... indeed! Nick is definitely underrated as a bass player!
Yeah...and WHY won't UA-cam Germany let us watch the original video? Even 'GEMA' should know there's other ways of getting there...is there?!
Their bass player is very good! :)
@dfgoree Pretty sure that it is.
Two kiwis ,two Melbourne boys, love the vibes.
must be early 1992 or before as after that Tim's brief tenure in the band was over after that
@dfgoree Yeah, I think it is. I recognise the cheekbones!
I learnd this song without the capo. These guys are cheating.
Crowded House the original Oasis
Neither Noel or Liam had half the talent of either Neil or Tim.
rich guitar
+spacedoginnebraska especially during the guitar break/bridge section.
@dfgoree Pretty sure that it is.
Influence beatles
Why is Neil Finn using the wrong tone? That's not how a Les Paul should sound. Otherwise, a good performance.

Woodhouse ffs.
No a happy performance. Very lacking. Run of the mill. Sad....
Aside; my all time favs
