Perth definitely needs a team
We don’t want a bears team back we want the original reds back we need a Perth based team not a half and half team. Game needs to expand not add more fixtures to Sydney
Bring back the Bears yessss, but leave them in Sydney where they belong. Perth is rich enough to have their own team if they truly want it.
Perth reds 🦘
Mollymook bears? Surely
I don’t really understand. If you want to promote rugby league in Perth, wouldn’t you want a team that people from Perth can call their own? With their own unique identity? Putting the bears in Perth would just make it feel like someone else’s team and not Perth’s own.
Because it's a gamble committing to a location with two established AFL teams that many consider an AFL territory, not to mention Rugby League having a history that includes a short-lived Perth franchise that ended up being axed after only three seasons. This jumpstarts a new team with an already existing supporter base who can still boost attendance at Away games in NSW and boost ratings if part of the plan is to introduce a new timeslot when renegotiating the television rights.
@@concretedavidson You’re right with it being a gamble. Anything crossing the Barassi line comes with an inherent risk. But the Melbourne storm exist. And that’s Aussie rules heartland. And they are seen as a success. Plus the main reason the Reds did not last long was due to the club loosing money due to the Super League War. And the peace agreement of the Super league War meant that they were going to shrink the comp down for the new NRL. If it weren’t for that I’d think that they’d last. Thing is that I want Rugby league to succeed nationwide, I just don’t like the idea of gambling the bears with leaving their homeland for an area the other side of the country. And rather something built right in Perth.
@@edreth7424 Apparently the Reds declared after only one season that they didn't have enough money to compete in the 1996 season, it was the sponsorship with the Sunday Times (Murdoch) and then Super League (Murdoch) that kept them afloat for two more before Super League pulled the plug on them right before the NRL was formed due to a $10 mil debt. Melbourne Storm were a success right off the bat on-field which helped but also wouldn't have been as expensive to facilitate being on the East Coast with all the other clubs.
I think both sides (Perth and Norths) would prefer to go it alone but it's been almost 30 years of exile for both and if PVL wants to broker it this way then they might as well make lemons out of lemonade.
@@concretedavidson In an ideal world (mine at least) I’d want to keep the bears in north Sydney and a new team in Perth. But you’re right. I’m not in charge. PVL is. With 30 years away from the comp. If it has to come this way and both parties are okay with it then who am I to stop them. I just think it should’ve been a little different. Don’t mind me though, I’m just being a little sceptical. I do want the game to grow across in AFL states.
Bring back the bears in North Sydney as per the original team and home ground North Sydney oval, Sydney based
Because
Living on the North Shore of Sydney walking around busy Chatswood, you may see an occasional person wearing an NRL jersey. With a lot of people from overseas that have migrated to the North Shore area, I just don't think they will get the support from the locals in the area. Soccer, AFL, tennis, Basketball and Rugby Union are popular in the area. It may be best to have the Bears at Gosford permanently and a couple of games at North Sydney. The Central Coast deserve a team. Let Perth have their own team and focus heavily now on their junior development as well as stadium in readiness for entering the competition. They can even share the same stadium as Perth Glory with some re-development.
Thank you
The smartest comment of the lot !! 💯
There are too many NSW teams the nrl won't expand more. Bears fans should be content with the fact they are coming back.
@@christendomempire5657 na how bout the Perth warriors haha
I mean the fastest way to get an 18th Team is bringing back the North Sydney Bears.
They are obviously an Established Team.
They still have an over 200k
Fan base.
Who cares it's a Sydney team ?
There will be more Teams in the future from everywhere else. I don't know who these People are that are against it or Why bring them back ?
I bet any money if you did a National poll there would be way more in favour than against.
I'm not a Bears fan but I do miss them.
Bring them back , they could be ready next year and then look at PNG , NZ and Perth etc.
It will eventually be a Two Tier Comp or a Conference System or even something else.
The more Teams you can do anything !
How much on security measures, to go and play in PNG, and what, behind barb wire, this landmass and States need to be in a National Comp, before other countries or even another side from NZ , Bears by themselves and bring in WA , and work on Victoria , SA ,NT and Tassie and spend some money and relocate some young players to bolster local comps
No two tier comp bro please 😢
Why in 6 years? There's enough talent for another team now. Queensland cup if full of talent.
We might as well bring back the Newtown jets, put them in Wellington and have them play games in Sydney. Because the one thing we need more of is games Sydney the fans won't go to. Also the bears don't have 200k members like seriously, your telling me they have 170k more then the highest nrl team, sure champ you believe that. Just give Perth there own team its not that hard, if the AFL can do it so can the NRL.
WA can hold their own
@@kinchegayowie6167 Mate the NRL makes it sound so hard like if most minor Australian sports can have a WA team why can't the NRL. Plus the brain-dead commentators make it sound like there is no rugby league being played outside the east coast and that the NRL WA is just not a thing.
@@chevychevans8813 totally concur mate, i was over in WA in 1996 for the National 15s' with SA, WA had a vibrant comp back then, and it is a travesty that WA is not figured in the NRL
Dumbest idea, Leave it as a perth team spliting will not work. You wont get people fully buying into it
I’d prefer a fresh start for Perth or even the reds. It has been done successfully though the swans it’s also happened in nba and nfl
Got a bit of Carrot on the end of a string feel to it
Poor Bears fans
Let ‘em back in NRL
🥛 fan here. We last won the comp when we beat the Bears in the Preliminary Final. Connect the dots yourself
PNG will need to be bankrolled - understood - but they will have absolutely fanatical support. If they are going to take another shot at WA (and we all know the history), I'd like them to give the Jets another look.
Would you fly to watch your side play?
@@kinchegayowie6167 if the Sharks made the GF and I could get tickets (!). of course. A better question might be how many folk from PNG could afford to fly to Melbourne to watch an important game. I believe there are a lot of expats working up there, so that may not be a problem.
That PNG team us gunna be BEAST 😂
Why would anybody in WA buy a membership knowing that they won’t be able to attend half of their home games? It sounds like North Sydney club would be the only potential winners out of this while providing a half-arsed, token gesture to long suffering league fans in WA. You ripped the heart out of WA Rugby League when you dissolved the Western Reds before they had a chance to become anything. I gave up league at that point and turned to AFL but those who stayed have probably been following other clubs ever since and would be unlikely to change allegiance for this obvious attempt at money grabbing.
10 is much more than half the home games. Also, I don’t think you can really compare ripping the heart out of supporters after all the Bears have been through.
Bring back the Reds!
@@concretedavidson West Aussies will not take to a team that isn't committed to WA. They won't being treated as lesser fans with lesser home fixtures, just for Sydney to have more games that Sydney-siders already don't attend, particularly at an antiquated 10000 capacity cricket oval with no potential for sufficient corporate revenue. It's insulting
@@PjRjHjthe plan doesn’t see North Sydney Oval host more games than what Perth would get. Keep in mind almost every club hold a couple of exhibition games elsewhere during a season in the country or have to give one up for magic round. Perth wouldn’t be short-changed with 9-11 games in a season.
Are they going to be playing games in PNG? There's massive civil unrest there atm and it's been called one of the most dangerous places on earth. My partners brother works there and frequently has to go into lock down because of tribal gang wars
Happy to have a team in PNG - but geopolitics and anti-China sentiment should not be the reasoning behind it.
Perth will NOT accept sharing regular season and finals home games. There will be plenty of "away games" in Sydney. NSO with its small capacity and lack of corporate facilities and modern amenity is only fit for trial matches and lower divisions
PNG is a bad idea… isnt there current civil unrest ?
It's one of the most dangerous places in the world atm
Perth is obviously the better option for NRL expansion than PNG due to established infrastructure, growing population, and potential for commercial partnerships. A Perth team would also help grow the game in a new market and attract a broader audience.
PNG might have passionate fans but they dont have the infrastructure, resources or junior development to support an NRL team. Not to mention the corruption that exists there.
Cry some more mate 😂😂..its happening like it or not
@user-fh5fh6fq4g haha thanks for the pep talk. Can't wait to see PNG's NRL dynasty unfold 🙄
@@user-fh5fh6fq4g PNG wont last a year, cant wait for them to go 0-27, plus if there are home games in png the fans will most likely grope the cheerleaders.
St George Illawarra, west tigers works but north Sydney and perth what's next NZ - south America merged teams should not be more than 150 km apart .
It should be the Perth reds or a brand new Perth based team not another NSW team 👍
Yeah i know I make too much sense 😂
Yes Bring back the Bears as North Sydney
and yes bring back the Reds in Perth or the Pirates or both eventually !
Their own Team
The NRL have no idea ?
Please put someone in there that has a grand plan that actually has a clue !
I've given them the blue print in other posts I've written and it's way better than their offerings 😏 just sayin'😂
Inclusiveness and Tribalism
Everyone gets a Team
No relocations and no joint ventures. That keeps the fan bases happy and healthy !
This is the best comment of the lot and no one has liked it
Imagine 50 million pumped into WA and SA's local comps, pathways and some bloody good young players relocated , then it will bolster big time , and spread the game , keep the Bears in Sydney
Bring back the Bears they should never have been kicked out of the comp, but have them play on the central coast and North Sydney. For me it’s a toss up between New Zealand and Perth. But I’m leaning towards NZ as they deserve another team with the amount of players that they have. Force another Sydney team to relocate to Perth or invent a team. if the NRL are that desperate to have a team there. Totally disagree with the PM even contemplating giving 600 million dollars for a non Australian team especially in a cost of living crises, why can’t the PNG board and their own government start it and is it even safe to play there??
👇🏿 Bring Back The 🐻
put the bears on the NSW central coast.
hook them up with the central coast leagues club and or the entrance leagues clubs.....!
They tried to make that happen for years
make them a package like st george-illlawara....
50% games in gosford...
50% at north sydney.
PNG is the stupidest idea ever. And for gods sake the bears are dead and buried and if ur gonna give Perth a team don’t give them half a Sydney club they want their own
Subbed
Perth reds mate 🦘
@@Alekosdw bloody oath get em back in
They did, and it didn't survive. Look at the AFL moved Melbourne clubs and how well they have done
PNG is a geopolitical soft-power move the federal government has forced in the NRL
It’s not going to be North Sydney Bears if they go to Perth is it? 🤦🏾♂️🤣
BLACKTOWN BURNWOOD BELLA VISTA BONDI WHAT ABOUT ADELAIDE/VICTORIA CLUB
We had a better local comp , than Victoria in the 90's , they stuffed us up when they got rid of the Rams and pumped the Storm
Merge two country towns to form a team you always forget the country folk they deserve a team.
Where do u suggest?
😂 it seems i have been sin binned 😂 or perhaps i've been sent off 😂
It's understandable i guess 😏
You're not supposed to say it how it is or tell people the history of the NRL ...
It's a bad look for them !!!
League fans have an irrational phobia of clubs relocating because it's never happened in their game. It happens all over the world in professional sport. Heck, you only need to look as far as the Swans.
exactly and the swans did it back in 1982..now that would've been difficult..much easier now to relocate
Another example why AFL is still miles ahead even though it's much less entertaining sport. The NRL has always been run by imbeciles and V'landys is the biggest of all. He will destroy the league.
Lord of the Flogs
Vlandys is one of the best tbh
David gallop nearly destroyed the game
Stop lying 🤥 Pinocchio
much less entertaining sport is based off an opinion not a fact
@@dutchvanderlinde2488 and what is entertaining in AFL? It's like bunch of kids jumping around the ball. Any kid from park can play this sport.
@@aetfggdgdfgret can say anyone can play league throw the ball backwards and fail to break a gap 5 times
Why bring them back. Put teams in Perth, Adelaide, Darwin and Hobart. Make it a national competition and stop flogging Sydney and Brisbane. The dolphins are great but there isn’t a single extra person watching the game because they exist. It’s just people like me and my dad who now watch the dolphins as well as the broncos.
I’m a dolphins fan. It’s about the extra ticket revenue at Suncorp stadium for a Brisbane team.
Adelaide and Perth would be silly. It's very hard to compete against the Afl states. Melbourne Storm are still an afterthought in Victoria!🤔
Bring back more consistent refereeing how about that?
lets go to watch a game and then get eatin after by the local tribe nah l will stay at home thx
Half-and-half teams are lame. Make it either western reds or north sydney bears.
ADELAIDE LIONSSS
Perth's too far away! Another Kiwi team would make more sense. Wellington Wizards or Christchurch Chargers!👍
I agree, and there is plenty of Rugby talent that can play league. A 2nd NZ team would also benefit the Warriors and grow the game in NZ.
Stop stealing old gold coast name
Isn’t it the South Island Keas
I believe the twentieth team will be Wellington. They have to have another NZ team because of all the talent coming from there
how is perth to fast away when the west coast eagles travel to melbourne every 2nd week since 1987 and are the richest sporting team in the country
@@dutchvanderlinde2488 ok well they don't care about Rugby League do they?
Png can barely field a qrl side..no nrl fan is going to risk their life going over there to watch a game, and no decent player is going to want to relocate there.
😂😂😂😂Stop leaving under your rock and be better informed instead.
PNG have and are setting up great systems
They won the Q cup in 2017
Your taking the Mickey
@@Alekosdw they won the q cup seven years ago and struggled every year since, and there’s a massive difference between q cup and nrl.

Continuing png domination
Taxpayer money funds this rubbish
RL is the national sport in PNG. Aust Govt want a NRL club in PNG it to make it harder for China to take over. Silly as it sounds, it would be a real factor.
0:43 they didn't get booted from the NRL, they merged with Manly and then went broke so Manly took over the whole licence again and rejoined as a stand alone team. Would have taken 5 mins to research that and get it right
The bears only at NORTH SYDNEY OR THE CENTRAL COAST ! You will get ya ass sued
Call em Perth grizzlies don’t rip fans off there club
Go the Perth reds 🦘
