I feel that, either Bach was born too early, or synthesizers were invented too late. Because, if ever there was a perfect match of composer and instrument, this is it.
Thank you! Whiter Shade of Pale is SUCH a powerful song. I do love the original best, though the Annie Lennox version seemed to fit the Polymoog better. Cheers, mate!
Thank you Jareth, that means so much to me! I’m so thankful they fell into my lap, and that you live relatively close and were willing to restore those beauties.
For sure, I still love it! I could’ve made the song richer with Prophets and Oberheims but I wanted to keep this one purely Polymoog and Moog modular. Hence the spooky lo-fi sound 😊
What a treat! First the seamless transition between a modern classic and a classic classic, then those fantastic machines (the polymoog!), and those full, rich sounds. All topped with the evil lair and sharks with freaking laser beams attached to their heads. This is quality work, congratulations!!
The sounds that you made and the way that you set it to drums so satisfyingly is truly marvelous! I’m trying to put Bach to synth and drums myself, and I find this very inspiring. How are modern Bach renditions not the most popular music in the world?
Thank you, and I totally agree! Putting drums with classical is tricky. I’ve tried to add percussion to some of my other uploads but they detracted rather than enhanced. For Air on the G String I took inspiration from Annie Lennox’s Whiter Shade of Pale and let it run from there. I put SOME beats in the Toccata in D Minor. Working now on the fugue that goes with it and so far can’t get percussion to work. Use your ears and you can’t go wrong. Cheers my friend 😊
At first I was like, "that girl from the bus"? What the hell is he talking about, featuring some girl he saw on a bus? Then I looked it up and saw that the lead actress was Sandra Bullock, and I immediately understood what he meant, lmao.
Absolutely sublime - dare I say on par with Wendy Carlos's version! Have you ever thought of covering the opening chorus from Bach's St Matthew Passion? Arguably one of the greatest couple of minutes in the history of music - yet a properly synthesized version is nowhere to be found. Just a thought on my part, I would be overjoyed ;)
I have nothing but love and respect for Wendy Carlos: a master of the Moog and a true virtuoso who can play circles around me, but…as much as I love Switched-on Bach, her arrangement of Air on the G String left me cold. I was expecting more like Virgil Fox’s organ arrangement, which is what I was shooting for with my rendition. I have been listening to the St. Matthew opening chorus all day, and I agree with you. That will happen some time this year! The hardest part will be finding the singers. I’m going to hit up the choir director at Furman University and see if he has some local talent to offer. Thank you so much for your comments!
@@electro-classicorchestra1585 I must admit - after taking another listen at the version in SOB, your rendition does indeed have more to offer sonically speaking. As for the St Matthew Passion, I'm delighted to hear of your plans. My inital thought for emulating the choir was to use a vocal synth or vocoder, but getting an actual choir on board would be even better. Fingers crossed it all works out, really looking forward to it!
Thank man, it’s just a single sawtooth wave, using the fixed filter bank to filter out some of the harmonics: instant oboe! Bob Moog knew what he was doing when he designed that module!!
i cannot stop listening to this....why dont u have milliion followers
Haha, I don’t know, but I’m so glad you are enjoying it! 😊

I couldn’t agree more! To think that this music was written nearly 400 years ago and has never really been surpassed in its brilliance!
Whiter shade of pale! My absolute favorite. Last song of my wedding! WELL DONE! Those synths sound RIGHT!

It's always such a thrill hearing your work and to see you using these classic synths I restored. This is what these now classics were made for😊

Another PolyMoog sighting!!!! Loved that keyboard back in the day!

Thank you Orzo!
I don’t remember putting laser beams on the sharks though 😊
@@electro-classicorchestra1585 Well, that was implied :)
Ahh! 😂
Beautiful. Love it. Thank you.

That’s not Bach’s Air, although it was inspired by it.
Bach’s Air comes in around the 50-second mark 😊
@@electro-classicorchestra1585 my bad. I thought it was all whiter shade of pale, didn’t listen to the end.
@@robappleby583You should do that when you get a chance. You might like how it turns out!
