    The Endorphin Speed 3 has been a workhorse daily trainer for me for a while now and it's a great all-round shoe that can pretty much do it all. I've been using it along with the Novablast 3 and the Hoka Mach 5 which I had been using before the Speed 3 and NB3. I thought I was pretty well set on the daily trainer front with these three shoes and then I started hearing/reading about the Deviate Nitro 2 and I could not resist giving it a try.
    I rolled my eyes and thought, "Geez, I really don't need another daily trainer but I'll give this Puma a try." Well, I have to say that I made the right decision as the Deviate Nitro 2 is just awesome and has become my number one daily trainer. Don't get me wrong: the Speed 3, Novablast 3, and Mach 5 are very good shoes and I'll continue using them in my daily training rotation, but the Deviate Nitro 2 has that something "extra" that these other shoes don't have.
    The DN2 is not as bouncy and fun as the NB3 and isn't as fast and snappy as the Speed 3 or the Mach 5 but, to me, it just fits my feet better and I just enjoy the ride more. It is the most "balanced" and, to me, even more versatile because it can handle everything from fast tempo to easy long runs and everything in between with superior comfort and road grip as well as a ride that's smooth and just chugs along to eat up the miles.
    It's one of those rare shoes that just makes you want to keep running when other shoes make you want to call it a day. it's the most "balanced" feeling shoes I have tried in that it's not bouncy/soft and it's not firm/stiff either. It's right in between so you get the protection and some amount of that enjoyable bounce but you also get that responsive ground feel and the propulsion of the plate without it being obtrusive.
    It adapts to whatever I want to do on a given day or during a run: fast, slow, moderate, long distance, tempo, strides, sprints, easy, etc. To me, it has a more "natural" ride than the NB3 or the Speed 3. It doesn't give you back more than what you put into it but it certainly doesn't give you less either. What you put into it is what you get out of it.
    For me, along with the Prime X Strung, the Deviate Nitro 2 is one of the candidates for 'Shoe of the Year'. In fact, if someone put a gun to my head and said I had to whittle down my collection/rotation to only two shoes out of over-a-dozen that I have now for road running, then it's the Prime X Strung and Deviate Nitro 2. I like all of my running shoes and I have many but these are the only two that I really need to keep me happy day-in and day-out.

      what abput sizing? What size You use on DN2 and NB3? same size?? Gon half size bigher on DN2?? I've heard the puma fits a little bit narrow and short

    • @alexkhan2000
      @alexkhan2000 Рік тому

      @@morper524 My DN2 size is US 8.5 because I read that it runs a bit narrow. My normal size is 8. The DN2 US 8.5 is a little long but the fit width-wise is really good. So, yes, I recommend going half-size up. I have a second pair of DN2 in US 8 wide (EE) and that actually fits better than US 8.5, so you may want to consider that as well.
      For Novablast 3, I wear my TTS US 8 and it fits fine.

    I agree with Tom when it comes to the endorphin when I ran yesterday in the rain and dark I was weary of the ability to grip the floor. However for me, it’s the endorphin 3 hands down. Very responsive, off the toe and poppy as Meghan and Tom both stated I just love this shoe!!! Maybe my favorite daily trainer of the year I put it up against the nova blast 3. Lastly, maybe because I’m 31 I love the blue and yellow color it’s swaggy !!!

    I have the white and red version of the Speed 3, which I think looks better than the Nitro, and I live in a climate that doesn't freeze/snow often.... so mic drop for the Speed 3. Just goes to show how personal and subjective these decisions are. Meg said the Speed is more cushioned, and Thomas said the Nitro is more cushioned. Love listening to you guys! Maybe a three-way between 2 shoes, throw Robbie in there!

    I didn't run in Deviate 2, but am using Velocity 2 (wide) as a daily trainer. Like Thomas mentioned, Puma's outsole rubber does really stand out. I hope Saucony can come up with a grippier outsole compound than XT-900 - it's pretty slippery on wet surface.

    You two, in tandem, are my favorite shoe reviewers. You tell the runner what's important . Today's review was just super. Now, a question. Will Puma Velocity Nitro 3 have Nitro Elite foam somewhere in the midsole? When can we expect to see the Velocity 3?

    I received my Endorphin Speed 3 last week and my first reaction was: Man, these shoes look chunky. I double-checked the box just to make sure Saucony didn't seed me a wide version by mistake. Glad to know (and thanks for confirming) that they are a wider shoe. Look-wise, similarly, I personally wasn't a fan of any of the standard color offerings for men either; I ended up getting the Vizipro color (yellow/blue), which actually turned out great. I've been running in the Takumi Sen 8 a lot recently and do find the Speed 3 pretty snappy in comparison, though it doesn't have the same race-day feel. I'm sure it still will be a great to run a race in.

    I haven’t tried either of these out, but I have the Deviate v1 and Speed 1’s and I prefer the Puma. I didn’t have any heel lockdown issues with the Puma. Also, the Puma’s are definitely more durable. As a heavier runner, I killed the PWRRUN PB in just over 100 miles. My Puma’s are still going with 200+ on them, and multiple half marathon’s in them. I would love the Deviate 2’s.

I did get rare pebble stuck in the part showing off the plate but didn’t find it a real issue . I will definitely be looking at the deviate nitro 2 when my current rotation of shoes wears down as running on gravel I appreciated pumas outsole so much and found the plate so protective !

      Ya, Puma seems all over the place when it comes to heel-toe drop. I think Deviate and Elite didn't have high drop, but their Velocity had whopping 10mm drop. Until I adjusted, there was some braking in the ride due to the heel hitting the ground early - that was distracting.

    I have been using the Velocity Nitro 2 as my daily trainer for my first marathon this coming November. Not aiming for a fast time and just planning to enjoy the experience.
    I'm thinking of getting a race shoe that feels nice for not so fast/easy pace marathon distance with good cushioning. Do you think the Deviate Nitro 2 is a good option? Or the Boston 12?

    • @lordedmundo23
      @lordedmundo23 Рік тому +1

      I love the VN2 and recently purchased the Boston 12 as an uptempo shoe based on the great reviews. I have to say I was disappointed. The midsole is bouncy and responsive, but it lacks the comfort of the Puma shoe. I was getting a digging pain from the top of the lacing after about 10k (it wasn't too tight) and you can feel the 'bubbles' at the side of the ankle collar when running - although not painful. They help with lockdown but not with comfort. Both issues may be resolved with thicker socks. I also found the Boston too wide in the forefoot (I have a narrow foot), so I never really got a snug fit. To summarise - I think if you like the plush comfort of the VN2 you may not like the Boston. I've put my Boston on ebay and now purchased the DN2. Just to add that the Boston is promoted as having a racing fit upper, but I race in a Vaporfly and the upper is far more comfortable than the Boston!
