Victoria is from Githunguri kiambu county. She is raised by a single mother and the journey wasn’t easy. They were seen as the less fortunate among the family. Family wrangles between her mother and siblings led to the mother running away from the homestead . She narrates how childhood traumas and struggles affected her. On reaching 17 years , she got pregnant and got married to a homestead where she was about to get herself into trouble.
She narrates how she was made to take an oath (muma) to never disclose the new family’s issues out there. Her marriage started with measures from the stepmother and she would become a slave more than a wife. Later in marriage the husband started petty crimes But graduated to robbery with violence and other atrocities. She narrates how she discovered he was hiv positive and how she luckily wasn’t infected
