A big tip I always try to give people is to always go back and analyze your decisions. Think about what your decisions were at the moment with the information you had and ask yourself if your decision was the optimal one. Once you get better at the game, start analyzing what your opponent could do. Think about what's the worse possible outcome your opponent could do, then analyze the risk of whether or not it's worth making a specific decision. Consider these outcomes before doing things like swinging into Aces, or swinging with an Ace - then ask yourself if you're able to play around those situations with the current state of your game. Think about things such as, "If I give them 2 memory to work with, what's the worse possible outcome that they could do with 2 memory and the current board state? How easy would it be for them to choke me at 1 memory, given their board state and hand size?"
A tip I can give is not to be afraid of attacking Security, I've lost matches for not taking at least one or two shots at the Security before fully evolving a digi
This is so real I’m always so worried about building up my stack and then they just shutdown that work and u have to restart it’s easy to get tunnel vision when losing that momentum ! But this is genuinely a good tip! Be aggressive get those checks in it’ll press em rlly bad when they get to 0-2 security even if ur board isn’t the best
And sometimes you can get insane value out of cards that way. Take ST16 Meramon. It just had an On Deletion to gain 1 memory, so you swing with it and get something regardless but if it lives, you get so much value out of it and god forbid you get to swing with it again and it still lives. Then your opponent is cooked.
In addition to tip 6, one thing I like to do when practicing a deck is “Shadow Playing”. Take your deck and play as if you were facing an imaginary opponent. This has opened my eyes to a lot of possibilities when testing a deck for the first time, or even if I want to revamp a deck (especially as someone who owns 14-15 different decks XD )
Hey im french and i love your videos guy ! And... I play everyday with myself cause ive not friend for play with me in real 😂. I set two playmat on my table with two decks and i activ skyzodual mode 😂
Same for my wife in the draw thing. I finally said to her one day: “ you seem to always have whatever card you need already in your hand, cause you don’t give a F**k about drawing”
Going from Yu-Gi-Oh! to Digimon about like 3 months ago and yep... Reading the cards... Watching content. Draw. Draw. Draw. Draw. Draw. (That was the biggest adjustment). Luckily the starting hand size and not drawing as starting player carries over from ygo. Started with Ragnaloardmon Starter Deck and upgraded it with Infernal Ascension cards. What I tend to do is applying knowledge from my like 15 years of Yugioh and all the different formats we've had. From Edisons slower pace, to mid era synchro of not over extending, to the modern day of extensive combo knowledge. Definitely looking up rules and asking around experienced players about the intricate things. I must say tho, of all the other TGCs that are being played at my local card shop I like Digimon the most, well, besides YGO. There is just something about not having a resource system built into your deck but having it be a dynamic system is so much more fun. We hardly have any Digimon players though, but I will try to build something up. We've got enough Bandai TCGers already with One Peach and DragonDeezBalls.
Quick note re: your point about forgetting to draw for Digivolving - somebody can't tell you you "missed timing" to keep you from drawing. Mandatory effects and parts of rules generally can't be skipped. In a tourney you'd get a warning for failing to completely fulfill your Digivolution, then draw to fix the game state. If somebody tries this, not only are they kinda a jerk, they're applying the rules wrong.
The biggest tip I have for newbies: DO NOT RAISE WITHOUT A GOOD REASON. The biggest mistake you can make and will outright lose you games is prematurely raising a stack that A. Does nothing B. Gets cleared for free or C. Raising without enough banked memory to climb your line. Several people at my locals so this and it always loses them the game. If your stack isn't killing something, checking mad security, protecting the fuck out of you, or otherwise providing VALUE (the key word in digimon) it isn't time to raise yet. Yes, sometimes you feel you don't have a choice. Yes, sometimes you will be punished for playing too passively. But also Yes, you will lose the game of you raise a rookie, evo into a level 5 with no protection or reason, and get it cleared for free on your opponents turn. Every single time you will lose when you raise for no good reason. Stay winning friends!
One tip i always give is, if you intend to play competitively, make sure you try out all the meta decks yourself or at least watch a couple gameplay videos of them so you know what your up against and how those decks function more or less. That way you have an understanding of the lines of play your opponent may take while you are making your decisions on your turn. This will help you to be a better player overall.
I still lose to AncientGaruru 😭
It’s a good deck. Can arbitrarily win games out of nowhere. It is what it is.
It beat me last night and I was 1 turn away from winning with a wall of diaboromon blockers ... It didn't car about my blockers 😂
I play AncientGrey
Thanks for the Tips!
I started hyperfixating on this game this month and can confirm I do play it in my dreams
Lol its a real thing 😂😂
