Well occasionally, Valerie played the bass guitar, and here's something you might love here, it's me with those three cuties and we're singing Robert Goulet's jazz version of "You've Got A Friend In Me" from the ending scene of Toy Story 2 where Wheezy was performing with his Barbie Doll friends and it's me in Wheezy's position and the three cuties with leopard spotted leotards in the Barbies' positions, and playing what the trumpets, trombones, and drums played, with me singing what Robert used to sing, and it's also a tribute to Robert too, so I thought you'd appreciate my performance with them as their fourth Pussycat, but I can't wear a leotard because I'm a male, so I kept my blue jeans on and switched shirts with their logo matching Melody's drumset, and after performing, I get a big round of applause as well as them as seen here: www.deviantart.com/protodawn/art/Pussycats-Live-And-In-Concert-918495285
The group consisted of; Cheryl Ladd( Melody), Cathy Dougherty ( Josie) and the late Patrice Holloway (Valerie). Cheryl Ladd ( Kris Munroe of Charlie's Angels) was the lead singer of this song as well as "Letter to Mama". Patrice Holloway( Valerie) was the principle lead singer of the group. She did the leads on the theme song, "Josie", "Every Beat of My Heart" and "You've Come A Long Way Baby".
But what really strikes me as funny is that while Cheryl Ladd was the singing voice for Melody, two of her soon-to-be co-stars from Charlie's Angels, Farrah Fawcett (God rest her soul) and Jaclyn Smith, had also guested on the Partridge Family at the same time this cartoon was being done. Look it up on IMdB, what an all-time laugh riot, LMAO
I watched Josie et al. all the time growing up in the 70s, like almost every day I think. It was the best of the HB cavalcade for me. And listening again to this music, I can't believe how awesome it still is!!! Going to try to download some now.
This song brings back great memories! Josie and the Pussycats was one of my favorite programs when I was 12. Great show. It reminds me a lot of Scooby Doo. I'm surprised that this show is not as popular. However, it is, nevertheless, a classic!
Rhino Records made a limited edition (5000 copies) rerelease of the album (with all of the added single-only tracks and masters from the cartoon they could find) in 2001.
Capitol Special Products put out this one on a 45 in 1971; still have it. You ordered it by mail. Patrice (Valerie), Cathy (Josie) and Cheryl (Melody) sang great and looked better. Note Casey Kasem voices one of the male characters; and the hits just keep on coming.
Darn, had I known that, I really would have gone for it in a heartbeat, no lie. Oh well, thank God for UA-cam for keeping the memories alive (and not caving into stingy copyright laws for that matter). But thank you for the heads-up anyways :)
I recall the series from when i was a kid and still watch it from time to time. When i found out one of the singing voices was Cheryl Ladd, i was floored. I would get this DVD collection only for that alone.
It may not be likely - the original LP is now a collector's item, and Rhino's limited CD rerelease in 2001 was a very limited run. Amazon Marketplace sellers have copies, but used copies are $55 and up. New copies are $100.
Did all the record industry execs around 1970 dress like Austin Powers like Alexander and the one at 3:07 ? Would've REALLY given Andy Warhol a run for his money, LMAO
This was one of my fave cartoons as a kid. This clip sure brings back memories...but how come the girls didn't notice the dancing tree next to them? That would have freaked me out :-).
@stadiumist1 You could order the records from Kelloggs cereals,"Frosted Flakes" " Froot Loops","Sugar Smacks" (now called "Honey Smacks") and "Corn Pops" ,there were 4 records to choose from,, "inside, outside upside down,,,, every beat of my heart....." voodoo" and it's gotta be him.
Thanks for the info! I sampled the iTunes episodes and they look amazing. My only critique about them is that there is no laugh track. I know it's trite, but I can't help being partial to cheesiness.
Thanks for posting these songs. They make me want to see the episodes in their entirety. Where are the full episodes??? I've looked all over the internet and found nothing!
Really can't find them :( I have all of them but youtube says they aren't the right file type.. .but they would just get removed most likely anyhow. iTunes has the full series for $16.99. Best cash you can spend ;)
How come this or any other of their songs aren't available on CD? They already have a compilation of songs from Scooby during its run called "Scooby's Snack Tracks" from Rhino Records. The music really is VERY fun and catchy, so it would sell pretty good, the latter already has :)
Amazing how they got all that sound out of a guitar, drums, and a couple of tambourines.

Talent. They've got it and more!
Amazing. After all these decades I remembered this song just from seeing the thumbnail! These classics are DEEP in my brain.
This song could still be a hit today ! It's better that most of the garbage on the radio today ! :/
I'd rather listen to this than anything by Taylor Swift!
I couldn't agree more, friend! I've been a fan of this band since their cartoon show made its debut in 1970 - and I still love them!
Hey I agree with you this is a great song
Second to Alvin and the chipmunks from around this time not the modern

Watched them as a kid and I still remember this song. Probably because it was a catchy tune to me even today
Way ahead of its time. RIP today's cartoon
Lol . what makes it way ahead of its time???
Bubblegum music .Innocent times. Very hot cartoon ladies when I was a teen. Thanks for posting.
My favorite Josie and the Pussycats song.
This was my favorite song from the show. It's the one I remember the most.
Truly, this is their best-known song.
Mine too.
Me also.
@@MegaJustGeorge after the theme song, of course.
Love this song!.
One of their best.
This used to be my absolute favourite when i was little had it on vhs :3
Good tune ... probably my favorite one!
R.I.P. Janet Waldo. A true voice acting legend.
voice of 'Jetsons' Judy, & once guest starred on ' I Love Lucy'
amazing how many of these cartoons Casey Kasem was a voice in.
He also did the voice of Shaggy on Scooby-Doo, and Robin on the Superfriends.
I remember this from years ago... Thanks for the memories. :)
Love this song and cartoon show. ah what memories. Back to days of sunshine when everyday seemed like the 4th of July. Thanks for loading.
Skyler

Wow! Childhood memories.
I miss this show.

Funnier, by far, than Scrooby Doo. Better music too.
I love this song
This is so groovy !
Groovy man !!!!
Yes Josie And the Pussycats (1970-1972)
I have this song on a 45. "Dear Mama" was the B side. This 45 must be over 50 years old,
One of my favorites from this groovy animated group...
Mine too
Do all music studio execs during the 60's to the mid 70's dress like Austin Powers like at 3:06 and 3:20? YEAH BABY!!!! lmao XD
hey, man, those fashions were out there in the early 70's- XD
Rhino Records made a limited edition (5000 copies) rerelease of the album (with all of the added single-only tracks and masters from the cartoon they could find) in 2001.
Wow!!
I see I'm not the only one who likes this song

I Love this song
Amazing!!

Love the song love the show. TYVM a nice time
Omg good old times! I wonder how they look now :(
old school. Nice.
Darn, had I known that, I really would have gone for it in a heartbeat, no lie. Oh well, thank God for UA-cam for keeping the memories alive (and not caving into stingy copyright laws for that matter). But thank you for the heads-up anyways :)

@xXfanxgirlXx they were animated by the same people who did Scooby Doo plus they did an episode with Scooby and the gang
dam its bad when songs from old cartoons are better then the crap they put out now
My favorite song fron the 70s pussycats
It amazes me how many songs that Valarie was actually singing lead to.
Great stereo

2:48 is exactly how I feel about four of the "White Guys with Guitars" from 'American Idol', especially Phillip Phillips.
Nice flashback. I still know the words. Lol.
a goodie
So *groovy*
you can buy the series on dvd on amazon.com and on ebay.
there ya go - -
Sebastian is standing behind Melody's drum kit playing the flute. You just can't see him.
Neato song!!
Some thoughts:
This is a great little pop song.
Alexander looks like Doc Ock.
The rotoscoping looks great
Did all the record industry execs around 1970 dress like Austin Powers like Alexander and the one at 3:07 ? Would've REALLY given Andy Warhol a run for his money, LMAO
This was one of my fave cartoons as a kid. This clip sure brings back memories...but how come the girls didn't notice the dancing tree next to them? That would have freaked me out :-).
@Greg Peter's I think it was the precursor to the dancing flowers of the 1990's
If this song was song by any other actual female group, it would have made top 100
Song heard in a Boomerang promo
Thanks for the info! I sampled the iTunes episodes and they look amazing. My only critique about them is that there is no laugh track. I know it's trite, but I can't help being partial to cheesiness.
Well they also have it on DVD which I own as well, but the laugh tracks are omitted too. :((
this could air today with just a few tweeks to the clothes and voices and phares and Josie And The Pussycats could air today
Thanks for posting these songs. They make me want to see the episodes in their entirety. Where are the full episodes??? I've looked all over the internet and found nothing!
episodes out there somewhere, may hafta pay tho-
Alexandra is in serious need of an attitude adjustment.
This is cute. Can't believe the live action movie made me physically ill.
I loved this song!! Is this out on a dvd series??
I have this 45 record, i play it in my jukebox
Really can't find them :( I have all of them but youtube says they aren't the right file type.. .but they would just get removed most likely anyhow. iTunes has the full series for $16.99. Best cash you can spend ;)
Did Hoyt Curtin do the underscore/interlude music? I always loved that, too!
Honestly why do they keep Alexandra around? Don't they know she's Bully?
this song would be great for great scooby doo chase scene
Dragoman666 I think the whole point of this show was a spin of when Scooby do finished because it's the same creators of Scooby doo
i owned this. i may be misremembering, but i think i might have gotten it from the back of a cereal box.
I remember, these records were offered by Kellogg's.
had one of those cereal box records, sound pretty poor : )
2 minutes silence for today's cartoons
So just who is playing the flute?
that guy looks like Fred and everyone from Scooby doo
I have been searching for the full cartoons series, but keep finding the songs. anyone, help. thanks.
They're lip syncing!!!
long as those legs keep moving ill let it pass
Okay? But cool
Does anyone know if you can still buy the soundtrack to this series? Amazon an Ebay don't have it.
Year 1970
@billyboy19702 Me too!
This was before they made the movie.
That movie was unwatchable.
@wsbtam Didn't Cheryl Ladd (credited as Cherie Moor) perform Melody's singing voice?
Correct.
@dressshoeguy what network dod u watch this?
No 2004 Dance
Where can I find this music?
There's no one playing the flute in the song.
Be that as it may, still a *groovy* melody, one of my all-time favorites (albeit old school). Forget Hannah Montana :)
No 2010 Dance
No 1970 Dance
Serious Vs
How come this or any other of their songs aren't available on CD? They already have a compilation of songs from Scooby during its run called "Scooby's Snack Tracks" from Rhino Records. The music really is VERY fun and catchy, so it would sell pretty good, the latter already has :)
Mariah Carey would make this song brilliant. So would Olivia Rodrigo,Billie Ellish and Dua Lupa
Why does every cartoon look like Scooby Doo?
does someone have full episodes of this cartoon?:)
Bring back Josie & the Pussycats.
Don’t make it bad like Velma for the life of me. I just miss how hot Valerie was!
Don't count on a countess
