I stumbled across your videos quite by accident and I am loving it. I am new to quilting and am finding it quite challenging. I am watching everything I can get my hands on. What I like about your videos, besides being informative and educational is your “if I can do it, anybody can” attitude. Being an instructor in my day job I can relate to it. You are down to earth, you do not insist we use your products or kits. As a result of that freedom of choice, I have bought several of your rulers because of the quality, the reference lines, and they work as described despite much user error. Lol please keep up the good work, I am learning tons from you. Sindy
Thank you Angela. This is the most comprehensive video on Wishbones. I watched a part and told myself I need to be taking notes. So I went back to the start and I created an Angela Walters UA-cam videos quilting notebook. Left several blank spaces at the front on the notebook so I could create a Table of Contents. Now to number the pages. Made drawings of each example, made numerous mistakes, and put ugly faces in my notes, because I need to work on that one. I'm hanging in there though. I will also be ordering your notes. Thank you again for being such a good teacher.
My husband and I just came back to Naples, Fl from Silver Dollar Park, temp a week ago 103, I'm sure weather is going to be much better next week. Thank you for your teaching and I'm working on my doodling and fmq to show one of these days how much I've learned from you.....have a great time at Silver Dollar Park!....
Angela, I briefly visited your store in June of 2021 on my way to the airport from a nearby retreat. Well, now I own a HQ Simply 16 and I am looking at quilts with a " new eye"! Your videos are an absolute necessity 🙃 Pretty sure, you will be able to walk me through it...that and lots of practice! Many thanks for your step by step education. I am pretty obsessed with learning this art form and you make me confident that I can do it- eventually 🧵💚🪡
Another great video as always. I have been practicing my free motion quilting using tips and tricks from you and other amazing quilters and I can finally say I’m improving… Thank You…
Enjoyed your ( very fast) talk on Wishbones and the quilting there of. Glad I could stop , repeat to catch it all! Have fun w your family next week, and stay safe💗😀🍁
At 24:23 you talked about having brackets sewn first then wishbone. The help I need is to figure out measuring the area for brackets to have them finish cleanly at the end. I don’t like cutting off my my design and leave it hanging. I watch everything you do, including all the Crafty classes, and this problem never gets discussed. Not small designs like wishbone. Very structured like your bracket rulers.
Amen!!!! I've been struggling to find a border design and the triangular wishbone will be perfect--- the fabric has triangles and there are geese in the piecing. Angela, love it when you riff on designs!
What is your favorite HQ machine to use? You make it look so easy! Breaking it down as you do helps to understand how the patterns work together . Thank you so much!!
Angela, I am new this last year to mastering quilting. I do sew, but this is very trying on my brain. Thank you for always giving the best Tutorial Class for beginners too. 💜
I’ve been doing some quilting with Glide thread, love results however it seem I have a lot of thread breaks and fraying. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks for all encouragement.
I had to change my type of needle. My dealer suggested a 'super stretch' or topstitch needle because they have a deeper groove for the thread and (in my Husqvarna) it passes closer to the bobbin hook
Thank you so much for this video! I missed the live chat today. This has encouraged me to start practicing this technique so I can start using it on my quilts. What teaching video do you have online for wishbones?
Loving these lives, they help me so much! I have a question for you and the community... I know you don't use monofilament thread much, but I feel it is the best option for a quilt I need to finish. I want to do a checkerboard pattern in the corners and wondered if monofilament thread would give it a plastic-y feeling from the denseness of the quilting. Waiting for thread to be delivered, if anyone can answer (pre and post washing any different?) That would be awesome!
Any tips for keeping the wishbones vertical? I find after a short time my wishbones are leaning. Any tips on that? Should I mark where the tops should go? Feel frustrated.
Do you have a direct link to the thread you mentioned in the video....? I went to your shop but you have so many different threads....I am not sure which one it is. Thanks.
Please help....is it normal for glide thread fibers to untwist when the quilt is pulled toward you on a sit down longarm. The stiching starts to look different after moving that way for a few inches. I use a 16 groz-beckert mr needle and the eye opening is 90 degrees from where i sit. I realize the opposite happens when im moving quilt toward myself but that isnt noticable. Is it a normal phenomenon or is it the glide thread or a needle issue. My machine is an artistic quilter. I know the thread is basically going thru the eye and making an instant left or right turn rubbing the eye. My table doesnt allow me to sit at the end of the arm. Im not yet comfortable with moving left and right for long straight runs. Does anyone else experience the untwisting from rubbing needle eye?
"It depends!" LOVE LOVE LOVE this answer! Makes my brain work! You're The Best!

Thank you so much. The wishbone has finally clicked. Now to practice, practice, practice.
Naomi from Bowie MD! Yahoo! Another Thursday with Angela!

Thanks, Angela. You are the BEST teacher!
Another excellent teaching! The biggest take away for me is keeping lines parallel and equidistance. Thank you for breaking it down and sharing.
Really liked seeing the “faux miter corner” wishbones example. That looks very cool!

This design has always messed with my head. But you've broken it down to something I think I can do! Thank you....off to practice wishbones!😊
Very cool video to watch and listen to while I hand quilt, LOL. Thank you for posting this and for all that you do for quilters!!
Thanks for the great content!
Thanks Angela
Happy Teacher's Day. Thanks for your tutorials.
Thanks for the tips. You give great ideas and pictures
Thank you for the triangular wishbone. I know this will help me do this.

Thanks for the tip on keeping the lines parallel. That made a huge difference for me. I still need more practice, but there’s hope!
Thanks for the great variations and uses of the wishbone. I love this design.
Thank you for reminding me to echo around the wishbones. Looks so good!

Great teaching, Angela!
Thank You for all the great teaching! 💜
Love the tip on knowing which way to slant line when starting, I’ve been struggling with this
Love your show
Wonderful. Great information on Wishbone.
Great tip to lean toward the direction you’re going! Duh, lol, I stumble at how to start🤣

Thank you for all your knowledge. Makes it more fun. How can I quilt a bargello quilt. I’m so confused.

Do you "float" all your quilts on your longarm? Do you ever use the "3rd" rail for the quilt top?
Any tips for keeping the wishbones vertical? I find after a short time my wishbones are leaning. Any tips on that? Should I mark where the tops should go? Feel frustrated.
9:58. Should you approach it differently if you are left handed?
Do you have a direct link to the thread you mentioned in the video....? I went to your shop but you have so many different threads....I am not sure which one it is. Thanks.
Why is it that I can doodle things good, but get the my domestic machine and I can't seem to be able to push/pull/move the fabric right?
I can only go left to right

Pìnwheels. How to quilt?
I have tried a"double' wishbone, have you seen that?
