I listened to this reading morning and night when I grieve deeply for my husband John. We were married 51 years and I still love him everyday and night. He loved me.
I hope his souls rest in heaven
Love so true and deep I still love him morning and night after seven years that he died. The line of him loving my face of sorrows I miss him the most and loving my pilgrim sole is so true. He is waiting for me I know.
His voice intonation and the music reveals the secret soul of this poem. Beautiful. Great poem.
Yes there is an appropriate sadness to it because indeed some of us remember our youth or look at an old picture and don't even recognize ourselves from years ago that person smiling in the photo doesn't exist anymore even though technically it's you.
I know this poem by heart. It was written in the perfect size to fit in the heart and carry with you.
Cillians soft voice adds more meaning to this poem absolutly amazing
When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;
And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars. ❤️
Daniela Belén thank youu

A wonderful reading Cillian!! I particularly loved your breathless intonation. Full of feeling!! Thank you.
👍🏽😊💕😊
This reminds me of when I dreamed as a child about growing old. Sitting by the fire with a good book, and the smell of cookies around me as an autumn storm hails down on the windows. Just sitting there in peace with classical music in the background. The warm strings especially hit me because I love violins and cellos. And his warm voice is as comforting as a warm cup of tea after a long day. I truly appreciate this reading.
You paint a lovely memory picture with words Mariah. Nice!

Cillian Murphy 😍😍
Why the music? Poetry doesn't need music.
Agree.
@@angelajeffs7258 it's not really about "need"...
Accept Bob Dylan, that's poetry with a noise
You should read about the origins of poetry

How love fled...
Very good
❤️❤️
great
Wonderfull
It's killing me. What u doing with me Cillian? ❤️❤️❤️❤️
using this to study for my exam
Music killed it.
I wish there was a way to request your favorite actor to read the poems you write haha
😍❤️⚘️
This was quite nice.
Though, to be candid, I would have much preferred to listen to Mr. Murphy & the music of Mr. Yeats' words without accompaniment.
I think Mr.Yeats' words can stand on their own.
gorgeous
Oh Cillian ! I love you ! I want to kiss you all over !
W. B. Yeats is the author of this poem
PLEASE post this without music.......
The music is too loud and covers the softness of Murphy's voice and diction
Very nice - shame about the background music😑
No music is needed with poetry - that is its own music.
Wonderful reading. Do check out my recitation of this sublime poem too!
My take on this poem before Cillian Murphy: Yeats is basically screaming 'YOU WILL REGRET THIS WHEN YOU ARE OLD AND UNLOVABLE". So... Good call, Maud. I'd dump him, too.
Post Cillian Murphy: (sobbing like I'm Marianne Dashwood in Sense & Sensibility): Yeats is all "they don't love you like i love you" just like that song Maps by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
By order...
He actually looks like Yeats...
He only needs those glasses
He looks absolutely nothing like Yeats
Cilliam KILLED this WB poem 💯%
I just wish people wld stop putting backing music on these things. It completely ruins it
I really love the reading, but not the manipulative music; why is that deemed necessary?
This is simply beautiful. I have created a channel of spoken word poetry and i'd be so grateful for you to check out the channel.
the music ruins it
Gay
You miss spell awesome.
Lol this is terrible. So over dramatic it’s ridiculous 😂 the Colin Farrell Reading is much better
