Lego UK style Level Crossing Lights moc - with 9 volt flashing lights

- See how I made a set of flashing Lego level crossing lights, like the ones seen all round the UK.
Based on a very cool, vintage, Lego piece from the 9 volt “Light and Sound” theme which only ever appeared in 3 sets!
I know that there are MANY sets of flashing LED lights, which you can buy for Lego sets, but I'm a bit of a purist, so wanted to try and make them using all Lego parts.
Omg That’s super cool
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.
I own one of those, i love it :)
That's cool... they are quite rare in black, Lego made a LOT more white ones than black ones.
Have you thought about using LED lights for the yellow light, such as Light My Bricks bot lights? They fit underneath any Lego brick and in the spaces between studs. People use them for lighting so many things due to their small size.
Hi @SteamLance.
Thnaks for the comment, and yes, I have thought about adding in a yellow light, but I'm a bit of a Lego Purist, so if it's not a lego piece, I'm afraid it doesn't get used !
I considered using this piece:
www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=4767#T=C
but... it would be electrically connected to the double top lights, so would be on or flashing when the red lights were flashing (which isn;t how the real ones work)
Also... it only comes in white, so I couldn;t use it anyway!
For now I'm happy with how I've made it, Flashing red lights when the barriers are down, is good enough for me.
Thanks for the idea though.
@@MinifigJez No problem. I was doing regular railway modelling before Lego, so I'm not as fussed about things like third party lights. I say if it can work with Lego, use it. But each to their own!
Wow im impressed
I'm glad you liked it.
I'm currently making a London Underground train and station.
You can check out the first part here: ua-cam.com/video/rYS9gbjkjyM/v-deo.html
WOW
Thanks! - glad you liked it.
Lovely but only issue is the cable. Perhaps the cable could thread down a made pole or something to hide it.
Hi Johnny,
yes you’re absolutely right, the cable does look a bit ugly!
But rest assured when the Lego city gets built, the cables will be suitably hidden or disguised
- subscribe and stay tuned to see how it all unfolds!
1:42 That was my local crossing! That is Chichester Stockbridge Road MCB LC
WELL SPOTTED!
I filmed it at Chichester station the last time I visited the town, as there’s no level crossings near where I live!
You could also use them outside a Lego city fire station
Good point! I used to live near Guildford, and the huge Fire Station there had the same lights outside to stop the traffic when the engines needed to leave.
Thanks for pointing it out and reminding me, but now I'll have to make some more, so I can use them on my Lego level crossing AND my Lego fire station !
I live near Kirkdale (Liverpool), on the dock road, there's a fire station, also with the same lights, to stop the busy traffic on that route.
The lights were originally halogen, the fire station was refurbished and the lights were upgraded to Siemens LED wig wags.
In the Old Swan area of the city, there's also an ambulance station, also with Siemens LED wig wags.
@@joelharris1335 Yes, I think they put them where a station is on a busy road. The Guildford one had 4 lanes of cars outside it, so the drivers NEEDED some help getting out of the station !!!!!
Old but great video
Thanks, it’s very old now, but it’s still one of my most watched and popular videos!
👍👍
Thanks!
Ok
How
How what ?
How did you make that?
@@ellisplows7411 If you watch the video, I explain all the different parts that I used to make it.
Unfortunately I don't have a list to give you.
it must’ve been hard
@@ellisplows7411 not really, ll the parts are for sale on Bricklink, com, the only part which is slightly difficult to get is the black light brick, depending on what country you are in - there aren't any for sale in the UK at the moment.
UK
Yes, they're the crossing lights which we have in the UK
MinifigJez
Yes?

Lego I want it😚
@@MinifigJez bye I want to go to next
@@shelleyjoddye2316 Bye! - Thanks for watching and commenting!
Traffic lights
Yep!
I love stripes
Well, stripes are easy to make in Lego!
@@MinifigJez do you know how to make Lego half barriers
I’m afraid not.
My level crossing was bought as a set from Lego.
I'm hypo because I have ADHD and autism
I hope you liked the video
@@MinifigJez I did it was so inspiring.
@@NextbotExpert Great! - there's quite a few videos on trains on my channel for you to check out.
You could try the series on the Wessex Electric train that I built:
