The reason this works is that the proteins inside the larvae boil/break down past 50 degrees Celsius (122 Fahrenheit), so using heat gun for some time will work (blow dryer won't) but you'll need to heat past the threshold to ensure they're dead. Note that with large pieces of wood, depending on the woodworm this might not help if there are larvae deeper inside the wood where it will take longer to heat up. So you need to heat for longer (taking care of possible fire risk) or use other methods such as chemicals or certain acids with injection or freezing the wood quickly so the worms can't adapt to the cold (furniture is sometimes done like this).. Generally wood that's moist and warm (15-40 Celsius or 59-104 Fahrenheit) is most easily affected. And yes, dry wood may still suffer from woodworm. Eggs from certain types may reside up to 10-11 years and still come out as beetles and start layings eggs again. So treat it as thoroughly as you can and add 2x layers of decent paint, since this deters the beetle to lay eggs on the wood and go search elsewhere. Got the problem myself which I'm currently taking care of.
excellent presentation , I'm struggling to find a solution in my attic workrom , 15/15 cm infested pin sustain pillar , problem is the bugs are too deep penetrated , planned to rent a 3Kw electric heat gun commonly used in construction to heat up quickly inner rooms - surface heating definitiveley not works .
Just be careful not to overheat and cause fire to the wood (I learnt it the hard way - keep watching to ensure the material does NOT change colours, e.g. to brown and/or black). Thanks for sharing!
The damn woodworms in my arcade cabinet and I have been googling how to get rid of woodworms. Seems like many wood borer killer spray/foggers are not safe for indoor use. I googled even more further and youtube and I finally came across this video. I just ordered a heat gun and it seems very promising. Thanks!
@@pranavsingh1128 I've checked in and it works like 70 percent. Unfortunately they made a new hole or maybe I miss the spots (Most likely). At least it's less this time. Will have to do it again on the other side of the spot.
Ordered the heat gun, i have 2 big size holes, do not look like exit holes. What temperature to use? How long should you apply the heat for? Please help / advice.
Can you be more specific about temperature? The only option I found for a black and decker heat gun is one that switches bw 750-1000F. Seems like at that temperature it will kill the bugs but the house will be down to ashes…
Do these bugs cause allergic reactions? Btw, I'll be getting a heat gun when I can afford it. I thought we had freaking carpet beetles and every other bug, and then I noticed several holes (7-14) all over. I thought it was from the kitty litter getting on the older part of the wood floor and me stepping on it. Then I realized a big hole, Like the size of a ballpoint pen ughhhh. I'm Skeeved out. I live in an in-law apt, and my LL is not going to fix it. She knows I need this place; she will claim they weren't here before. This house is 50-60 years old-her living in it for at least 40. No updates to hardwood, I can tell. Any advice? Single mom here and desperate. I have sprinkled diatomaceous earth ALL over (the indoor perimeter) every room. Also use cyzmic CS every 30 days. Still feel itchy. Had the place inspected for Bed Bugs- nope. The wholes are perfect circles.

Update: Even after a year, no trace of them...and no new holes either.

Thanks for the continous update. I now will buy a heatgun to treat areas of our house. Im glad i saw this video

@@hulkk01 any updates bro?
@@hulkk01 checking in, you got any updates?
I think its most simple and effective way 👍👏
if the heat kills them, can we also use POWERSTEAMER? hot water steam machines

Would a hot blast from a Hair dryer work.? I dont have a heat gun.?

What temp do I put it on for a finished wood floor?
At least 60 degrees I think for a few minutes to get the internal temp of the wood to that
thanks
Struggling with creature.... Definitely try this
Thank you!
Hey, did it work?!
my room doors are full of such holes now, noticed these happend in a day

How long do you hold the heat gun over the infested area?
The idea is to get it as hot as possible without burning the wood...maybe 30 seconds at a time for 1 or 2 minutes.
@@TechLifestyle thank you SO much. Fingers crossed.
Is it okay to use hair blower??
It should work, but may take longer..
Not ok. The heat produced not hot enough.
@@harotaro1067 50, 55, 0r 60c is needed to boil/kill worms
the woodworm would just enjoy a hair blow
I used butane cartridge, but is leaves black traces
it can not deep heat the wood.. need to be a heat gun or a very powerful hair dryer if made
a blow dryer would do the same . how much heat temp required in this by the way ?
Really?
Haha
A blow dryer doesn't get nearly as hot as a heat gun.

Wat to spray them bugs
Trinol Super Permetrin
How can I get it

Home Depot sells heat guns for half the price of the link. B&D generally makes terrible products.
