I am a big admirer of Sanjeev sir. He is a true gem of this country and it is wonderful to see an erudite personality like him in the government. I hope to see many more interview of his on this channel.
'Calcutta was murdered ". I can understand that as I lived in Calcutta full five years in the early 70s. Yes, Calcutta was so vibrant with Rabindra Sangeet, intellectual and cultural capital of India. Today, it's not even a shell of it, just look like an extension of Bengladesh, everything it's own has been lost out.
I have seen many podcasts of Mr. Sanjeev Sanyal, but this is the one which is most informative and coherent one Thanks to the @New India Junction Team for bringing such quality content
A really insightful podcast ft. Sh Sanjeev Sanyal that takes up so many different topics - from the economy to the need to revisit history. Kudos Team NIJ. Keep it up!!

Wow. He's going to realise his passion for the maritime voyage similarly done 1500 years back. That is something...kudos👏🏼. it was a comprehensive podcast 👍🏼
Very good interview, intelligent questions suitable for a person of such a vibrant calibre. It's always a pleasure to listen to Sanjeev Sanyal and when right questions were asked his answers were more direct and punchy. Enjoyed the hour and half long interview entirely.
It's reliving to see how Modijee gathered some really talented persons around himself to run the country and making policies. Rather than gathering some chor chamchas as done before 2014.
Being in research area I completely relate to what Sanjeev Sanyal is advocating in Higher education and UG in general. In fact some of it is already happening in many places especially in UK and USA. The UG education can be exponentially scaled up with higher benchmarks to wider society with minimal cost by adopting digital infrastructure. The teaching faculty can focus more in research and Q&A, preliminary content creation can be passed to PG and PhD students for gaining experience. The ministry of I&T, and I&B should invest in development of single pan India platform with high end best UX/UI experience for delivery of education and make it available for all public institutions. I feel the current GOI online education delivery platforms are not robust enough and needs lot of improvement.
Really impressed the depth of his knowledge and understanding of things. Right man at the right place. Must credit Modi with his selection criteria. Be it Sanjeev Sanyal or Jaishankar or Sitaraman.
A true revolutionary of modern India. But we are a very very complex society carrying on thoughts of thousands years behind in different fields. If India hopes to be a developed nation, it has to be bold to accept the new ideas.
This interview talks about some unique points that aren't so well discussed in any other interview of Sanjeev ji. Props to the team and the host for doing this.
14:15 I am from Chandigarh and agree with it. Except for some great planning of the City which can be counted as his positives, he had a big net negative impact
Would be very interested in hearing Mr. Sanyal's views on heterodox theories of economics. In my opinion, Keynesian orthodoxy and central planning/banking are basically pyramid schemes which previlege Western lenders to collect interest seignorage on a debt-as-wealth ponzi scheme. They are not investors assuming risk but rent-seekers using exchange rate arbitration, due to their printing press monopoly on money. Money is not capital. Savings and retained income is capital. Privately held gold is the hedge against this chicanery.
Mahabarath and Ramayana refers to kekeya,BalaGangadhar Tilak refers to the north pole ,Rajendra chola invaded south eastern nations like ,Kadaram, mmayrudingam,mMabbabpalam et c
Why no questions on Indian Backdated Iabour and employment laws still existing with so much loopholes! That is still not reformed! Which is hampering the mental health well-being of the population! It is 11 crores now! And eventually the country has ranked 126th in happiness Index! It is one of main agenda for Middle Class in the upcoming elections! Why no questions on podcasts on that?
For a very long time, the main road, Gandhi Nagar, Nehru Marg, Sadar police station, College, Hospital, Library, Bank and Court side of mofussil India dominated the discourse through IAS-driven development block top-down narrative tied to the District Collector tax revenue model. On the other side of the railway station, lay the gullies, mohallas, bazaars, temples, ghats, river, parabs and mela. It is that side of the track that gives rise to the life of the nation through entrepreneurship in the informal sector. This phenomenon is similar to how immigrants drive the growth story of the host country in the West. The civilizational mojo of Bharat does not live inside a file in Yojana Bhavan. It is the bottom-up drive of a people escaping the shackles of their circumstances to claim their piece of the sky. That's why the informal sector is the heartbeat of Bharat.
why Sanjeev cant be fielded as a chief ministerial candidate in West Bengal opposite culture destroyer Mamta Banerjee. Sanjeev is from a family of India's foremost families of revolutionaries so he would be a tough man against TMC goons. The Great Sachindranath Sanyal being his grandfather. Modi/Shah should field him at the earliest as Mamta cant match up to Sanjeev's brilliance rather than trying to persuade Saurav Ganguly to lead BJP. Unless of course Modi wants to use him as finance minister who would also be able to win a Loksabha constituency by himself. Not blooding him in the Leaderless bengal BJP is a wastage of political potential of him.
Ugly bulding =FSI plots, = ugly Mumbai bulding with no parking space in urban areas no ply grounds ,no walking space, no school ground ,no heavy vehicles truck / bus parking space ports as we see in USA, no proper roade side vender, hocker policy space no public garden , toilet, library space left , even sabjiwala, garage takes roade footpath for their use ! Every thing on the name of common man but no space for common man in urban tire 1/2/3 cities left ! Cities with population 2cr to 5 lakh are total mess of urben disaster in India ! All are copied and pasted cities india due to laws of urben planning ! Where as 17 centuries old cities in Europe are defining Moder Europe and giving revenue !!!
I like Sajib Sanyal. But he is clearly saying some false to facts things about PC Mahalanobis. He was a mathematician and a Statistician. The fact that he is not an economist is funny. At that time there are no such thing as a professional economist. Even there are which are very far and few. Anyone who wants to fact check just check how many universities were offering phd in economics.yiu will get the idea. Many earlier economist( who we consider to be one) were infact engineers who came up with all those mathematical models. So Sanjeev would say well they were not economist so we should not use all those tools. That is very misguided. And his contention about central planning is so out of whack. Central planning would not and never work because it is a computationally hard problem( look it up). Not because some moral issue attached to it. Example soviet's planning collaped unto itself.
now BJP supporters want to storytell their way in to change judiciary sytem in the name of justice.. what about the administrative failure in Manipur and Haryana..
