Just a heads up- if you remove the Dishy metal stand, you can unplug the cable just like you can at the router end. Just pull the cable and it pops out!
We have a Basecamp 20X and two GC3s. We also have the same Dishy Starlink setup and a Victron Multiplus II inverter/charger. I didn't hear you mention, but if you use the Victron smart dongle along with a Victron SmartShunt it will calculate the remaining time of charge based on usage. It has been a great tool to know what is happening so there aren't any surprises. We will be heading to CO soon and it will be our first test with the new battery setup. Safe travels!!
Yay was so excited to see a new video from you :) starlink still seems confusing to me somehow..I'd love another video maybe comparing starlink to other options and what the differences are? would also love a daily routine type video of what your typical work day looks like :) much love
Nice summary. We’ve found about the same 125-160 WHr/day for our StarLink v2. We save with Sleep mode each nite. Good to see y’all out and about the woods. Lovely area. Thanks for sharing.
So I discovered a hack for the long cords and cables. Find a “sturdy” Christmas light or wreath winder. It looks like a giant wheel that wraps the cord much easier. I found a larger one and use it for my zero gravity hose. Absolutely love how it works. Especially for storage.
Great video! Nice to see your pups running around. I was going to ask if you got another dog, I could not believe you planned to fit both of them in your new rig!? But I see someone else already asked that question and you said it is your boyfriend's dog. Looking forward to your next video and seeing the pups run around :o)
Great video. I have been thinking about Starlink to allow me to take some longer trips and still work, but the power consumption is what is holding me back, as I don’t have a current solar system set up. My friend has it for his house because there is no high speed service there, and it is great. Happy to see you and the crew back out on the road!
For coax winding: try the "over / under" method. Videos can be found in the amateur radio space of UA-cam. Stretch your cord out in the sun to get warmed up and work the kinks out once, then use the over/under method to coil. Once you get the knack of it, it works without kinks, is quick, and will likely prolong life of your cable.
Thanks for the video. You said you had friends who were on their 3rd starlink dish. What happened to their previous 2 dishes. Did they stop working? Any warranty on the dishes from Starlink?
Great question. All of them were damaged from travel. It's due to them being transported inside and eventually all of them were damaged to the point of unusable, so not something warranty would cover.
My suggestion is to get two or 4 more panels that you can install in a ground mount. Just long enough cable that you can park in the shade and run them out in the sun.
I just watched a video from Sarah Yak over the weekend where she put 800 watts on her Transit high roof extended van. They are shade resistant from Optivolt Shade Resistant 100 watt panels, they are $279 for the High Voltage and $269 for Standard Voltage. Not sure if you want to spend that, or if you could write off as business expense since you need them to work, or a partnership.
Speaking from experience with Starlink… if that cord gets a link in it you won’t get connection easily if at all. I have 2 just in case one fails. I also have a telescoping pole mount for the dish. Its pretty nice and can put the receiver about 3-4' above the top of my Sportsmobile Van
Hello Cas, as this is a film from September, how did your Starlink arrangement go through your winter? I suppose with space being continuously cluttered with more Starlink satellites, they should increase your connectivity at the expense of those who want to do star gazing.
It worked great. When I went on the road trip down to TX and through southern CA I used Starlink the whole time. They are more remote areas thou, so still yet to try in a busier area. And yes, it’s from September just never got around to editing it sadly.
Interesting post. I have been thinking of getting StarLink for our trailer. Currently I'm using a hotspot, which is OK for where I'm camping, but not very reliable. Question: Didn't you have an elderly dog ( can't remember the name ). What happened to him/her?
Awesome set-up and what a beauiful location for remote work. We have been using StarLink in our rig for two years. It has been comepletely converted to 12-volt. By eliminating the StarLink router and the inefficient DC-AC conversion with your inverter you will get better battery life. Here is a YT link to our set-up. ua-cam.com/video/mzxgB2QL8tM/v-deo.htmlsi=L144LDrHIZ1EMenc
Learn to wrap the cord around your arm. There are some links to show you so it doesnt tangle. How much is your daily operating costs with the truck and the dogs, ie food, water, power, fuel etc.
Watching your videos as I consider moving into a truck camper full time. I get out of breath when filming too so glad I'm not the only one!
It’s so hard to keep breathing and talking haha! Good luck on the search always so hard to find the perfect unit.

Glad Starlink is working out for you. Love your dinette pillows!! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! 🤗
Interesting video. And great to see you back!!
Hey, thanks!
Very nice job of explaining the ins and outs of Starlink! I now understand it much better! More videos more often, please! 🙂 Love the pups!
I graduate with my Masters in May then more frequent videos!

Great suggestion! When I’m back on the road I’ll work on that.
I’m So happy to see you posting regularly (and more frequently) again!! I missed you guys!!
Thank you!! I have 1-2 more then there may be a slight delay but we’ll be back when I graduate!

My work has two Starlink dishes and each setup uses a reel as you describe. Very important for those leads to not have kinks in the lengths.
Love this idea thank you!
Colorado looks beautiful! This video was interesting and informative. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You are very good at the you tube thing! I wish you would put out more content! 😎
Thank you! Once I have my Masters I’ll do more content
Cass, great video and very informative. I’m considering starlink and finding information you have provided helpful. Thank you
That was so interesting. You are the 1st channel I've heard explain Starlink. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
great to see you all back !!

Excellent video, loved the information you shared… Very informative.
Glad it was helpful!
I hope your still making videos.. yours are very helpful for solo female
Hi, have you thought about getting portable solar panels? Light and can be packed up easily but can be put in the sun while camper is in shade.
Thanks for the video. You said you had friends who were on their 3rd starlink dish. What happened to their previous 2 dishes. Did they stop working? Any warranty on the dishes from Starlink?

Emma? Where did she come from? It's great to see them having a good time! ) Have fun out there!!
Emma is my boyfriend’s dog. When he’s traveling for work she’ll come along on some of the trips with us

Ground mount sure are nice and work great, it’s just hard to carry them with this setup as I don’t have much storage
Great video. Thanks!

Great idea on carrying 2 cords!
I have a nice little Honda generator to charge my rig up....allows me to recharge my Battlenorn batteries and run my AC.

September!! My goodness! Been a while since we’ve seen you then hey? 😊 hope you’ve been well 😊🙏
Been a long while! I'm finishing up my Master's and cramming as many classes in as possible. 1 to go!
Yay 😃🙌well done!!!!! I get that!! I’m in my final year of my Bachelors, not much time for travel for us either 🤣

Jasper is my dog, he’s 8 now. I have an elderly cat, Napoleon who is still around!
Glad to hear that Napoleon is still with you and that Jasper has a buddy to run around with.@@TailsofWanderlust
Awesome
Thanks for watching!
Nice!
Thanks!
You certainly have a way of going underground. Resurfacing from time to time
Tip #1. Nothing beats a Jasper
Working on my Masters degree sure does that. And 100% agree on Jasper!
So when's nap time?
Hi Cass I Miss You Me and You Were Friends ☺🤗
Hey Cass! We're missing you! 😢 Hope everything's ok.
Thanks for checking in! We're back!
You mentioned that all of your power usage did not include use of the fridge...so what do you do?
For the fridge? I have since installed one, but now I really need to add more solar.
Hello Cass 👋
Hey!!
Do you have a link for the neck stand for your laptop?
They changed the design a bit (mine is 5 years old) but this is the company (Nexstand): amzn.to/3Tyfufw
Are you able to check your mbps with starlink I’m sure it changes when you move.
It definitely does change. I’ve had between 20-200 typically.
Is there a delay in the signal vs regular internet?
Not that I’ve found. I’m in video calls for work and it’s great
this must be some really old footage to have leafed out aspens….definitely not something that happens in March 😂
Yup, September! I’ve been so busy I haven’t been able to edit. I have one more older video on painting to edit then I’m caught up.
@@TailsofWanderlustHeck, Starlink has prolly had 2-3 more price increases since you shot this!
