Neil's take on college is spot on. It's not about learning the subjects (for the most part), it's about shaping the way you think and analyze situations and problems.

Moronic Neil DeGrasse Tyson accused Bill Maher of failing to change with the woke times and having “given up on an entire generation.”
“I’ve given up on any place that doesn’t even remotely attempt to believe in free speech,” Maher retorted. “And thinks that anything that they hear that they don’t like, that they don’t agree with is violence. These people are fucking nuts and you should be calling them out. Somebody like you, who has standing with kids.”

One Of my professors said you will use 5% of what you learn here once you get an actual job. For the most part it simply shows your future employer that you have the ability to learn. He also said that these colleges are ripping the students off and it's a big racket. All of what he said is the truth!

He’s unlistenable on JRE besides the first 2 times on there. I’ve been a follower of Neil for over a decade, he’s a hit or miss in interviews after they tried to cancel him. Before that he was always a hit, the cancellation definitely changed his psyche.

mikebee6530. I'm not sure if you actually thought this was profound, or just didn't think about it before posting your comments. We'll see. "Profound and perfectly said?" About 3/4 of everything Tysons says is either too general to matter, or completely unnecessary. This statement was the latter. Did you honestly need Tyson or anyone else to tell you this? How many people do you know who don't know they are going to die some day? This little detail makes his pearl of wisdom completely unnecessary. It's about like saying "if you jump off a cliff you're going to hit the ground." Here's a funny little twist on this subject. My grandmother wouldn't get out of bed because she was afraid of the floor. They brought in a shrink to talk to her. He asked her why wasn't she afraid of something realistic, like heights. She said "if you fall it's the floor that kills you."

@@daveblueballz6659 Oh I don't know. I spent a career in the Navy. You can't do that without a good sense of humor. As such, most people though I was a lot of fun at parties, and everywhere else for that matter Especially the brighter ones who could understand what I was saying. Since retiring from the Navy and joining the private sector I still get a lot of laughs at work and social events. And then there is the fact that I'm getting criticized by someone who is trying so hard to be funny that he goes by the name daveblueballz. Which really isn't funny. Quite the opposite actually. Personally, that term has never applied to me, because I've never had that problem. If I did have it I wouldn't advertise it. I'd fix it. Fortunately, I've always been pretty successful with girls, in just about every country I've spent time in. A large part of gaining the favor of the fairer sex is being able to make them laugh. And once you do that. Being able to keep a perpetual smile on their face.
And while I acknowledge your desperate effort to entertain people. I'm pretty sure calling yourself that won't make anyone more sophisticated than Homer Simpson laugh. If they do they are probably laughing at you, not with you.
The emotion it evokes from me is pity. Which is usually the preamble to the familiar axiom "but for the grace of God there go I. Thank you God!
But I've also never been one to turn my back on someone who is struggling and needs help. So here's what I'll do. Whenever you need a few pointers on how to make people laugh with you. Or gain the favor of a member of the opposite sex. Who will probably be in the same boat as you. All you have to do is ask. Maybe I can help you change your current handle to one that is a bit less humiliating.

Here is just 1 example : after Neil mentioned, several times, that he became interested and involved in astronomy as a pre-teen, the interviewer still asked when he became interested in astronomy. Guest was waaaay ahead of the interviewer. Kind of frustrating watching the guest have to backtrack.

Definitely do more interviews with people like Neil. Try to get Billy Carson on here even though he's not as famous as Mr. Tyson he's also a very intelligent man with wisdom in Ancient cultures, Spirituality, Finances, Entrepreneurship, Healing and Relationships.

I didn’t experience it, but my Mom and grandmother had to change the drapes on the outside windows because we were close to a railroad yard and spewed so much coal that the drapes were ruined. So much for the night sky.

The college part struck home, I wasn’t ready. I ended up starting my own painting company and making more than I am currently. I stopped my company to please my parents and got a “white collar job” I’m preparing round two of being a small business owner and “silently quitting” or like I saying you get what you pay boss
