We all listen to music for various diffrent reasons. Sometimes to enhance hanging out with friends or a party or to feel good. Than their is music likes this that absolutely just touches your soul and as tragic as it is gives you some hope that there is light even in the darkest of times.
This game tried to make me feel heartbroken, i think it didn't consciously, but it showed me what is Love, Hatred, Vengeance, Empathy, Redemption... But most importantly : the lack of affection. And now that i feel it in reality, i feel sorrow and compassion for Ellie and Abby. Such a great game that shows you making's nature, goodness and madness.
Makes me think about the people in the university with their journal and joel saying: ''Wonder how long you held out''. Like I want a story or a DLC about how other people survived, or how the quarantaine zones fell down while someone's story is told. that is how this song makes me think/feel...
It would be interesting for Naughty Dogs to make a game that serves as somewhat of a prequel, similar to how Capcom made RE: Outbreak 1 and 2 which expands on the OG RE2 that explores the other survivors' stories.
The Last of Us 2 was not a perfect game, and there were many jokes about how dumb some of it's plot points were, but man, actually playing through the whole game and getting to this moment. I felt I was truly losing not only Joel, but Ellie too. She had become a monster, and this music paired with her drowning Abby just sent me to tears as I couldn't hold back anymore. I was relieved to see her finally release Abby, but it was too little too late as she had already ruined her life by that point. Truly dark stuff.
