was out snowkiting today. Was light wind prolly only 10-12 mph lots of holes in the wind as well. never foiled yet but i think snow kiting is like foiling if you can get your kite up you can snow kite. Had my kite invert as it fell out of the sky due to lack of wind. I was able to use your advice from this video and get my lines untwisted. and as soon as i had enough wind to get my kite back up and flying, my session was lit. Thanks Jake for another highly useful tip.
Super useful to remember, was flying an old 7 that inverted and was trying to death roll in 30+ knts. Was all good mostly until it pulled away from me and the flag out line was the one wrapped, it snapped and I chased the kite down the beach 👍
Yea it's happened to me for sure when learning to boost .. I was about 2 miles from the boat in super shallow mucky sand in the FL keys. Lucky for me had a pro with me who showed me how to spin the bar and got up and going pretty quickly.
Love the vids, Jake, keep em coming. Been learning for 2 summers now. This happened to me twice in the same practice session. I have to kayak to the spot so I set the kite up and pack it back in the bag. Must have gotten the bar in the lines somehow cause when we got my 14m Rpm inflated and ready to fly the lines were inverted. The liquid force response bar has bar side line length adjustments, I undid those knots one at a time to untwist the lines (your pass the bar through trick looks much simpler). Got her flying, but the wind was light and she was back stalling (should have used the trim straps). Did a few body drags, on the last one she stalled and rolled over. Now I'm in deeper water and have a choice to make after i wrap my lines, swim to the kite and let the wind take me across the river and wait for kayak rescue or try and swim the 150 feet dragging the kite through the water. I chose the later. Should have at least turned the kite over so the whole leading edge wasn't dragging through the water, but I made it after a hard struggle. I was so tired after that I packed it all up. 1st successful self rescue. lol
Good skill to know. Beginners should be super careful. I know of one person that went to do this in high wind, when a pro kiter that was holding his kite accidentally let go of the kite right as the kiter was passing the bar through the lines....end result, one of the lines cinched down on his finger and de-gloved that finger. He now has a stub of a finger and and is nick named Stubby.
Jake great instructional. I don't believe anyone has ever done an instructional on bar juggling. Key skill for a good kiteboarding instructor to master as well, to help save their students headaches, and time lost re-reigging. Also breaking down the fact that this cannot be used on a 5 line kite is also very important. You can also do this with the kite in the air with light winds, but as we know this can be very dangerous to fingers etc. Anyhow great thinking outside the youtube square box bro. Also glad Antigua did not get devastated!
Wow thanks for covering this topic, not a well known phenomena even to intermediate riders. I flipped my 5 line on an outbound tack which resulted in a 1.5 hour swim! I recently switched everything to 4 lines. Catch you out there!
Thanks a lot man !!! Happened to my bro because of me and happened to me few days later !!! When it happens I just relaunch my kite and go to the beach with the lines tangled...
Farhad Omid it happent to me this weekend the kite stalled and got inverted... It took me 20 minutes to untangle, first the stearing line's one by one, then the center line's what a mess
Thanks for the awesome tip😊🏄 Most of the time this happened to me was because a big kite (18sqm) on 12 was stalling in light winds... Keep up with the good videos !😊
happened to me last week because i was really hyped to try out my new slingshot rally gt. unfortunately there was nearly no wind at all so it backstalled just after 1 min in the air 😆should have been more patient
Happened to me during one of my first sessions by myself. Had a 5-line kite and was few km out. It was a mess! Had no clue what was going on at that point.
great! but somehow it doesn't exactly show what you're doing and which way/direction you're threading the bar. i've tried unwinding it this way or another, but i always geto on a point that i have to disconnect some lines.... so not really helpful for the populace. you planning an video extension?
Oh hey yesterday at Kite point in OBX before the island got evacuated...9m got over powered and I laid my kite down , but it rolled over and inverted.....the day before, in some dirty air at Mirlo Beach, the kite did a hindenburg ( front Stall) and inverted) very bad, I was very far off shore in the sound.
Thank you although i own five lines. I half inverted my kite while kiting alone in queens lake in north nsw in Australia. Lucky there wasn't any bull sharks because they are around. it took me an hour to get out of the water and an oyster farm
in had this scenario a few times. but one time I had a brand new kite wich I got at the age of 13 wich was a 12 meter kite. I was so stoked that I flew it this day in 25 knots wich was a bit much for 12 meter kite and my 55 kilos.... I realized that my steering line was twisted with the power line. the only thing I could think of was to safety release but because of adrenaline instead of opening the quick release I accidentally opened my harness so it was hanging on one side of the harness and started to deathloop over the ground and dragged me like a half of a mile down the beach, until it smashed hard enough on to the ground to enable the valve to open und the air to flow out to make the kite stay on the floor. it ended up in a entirely destroyed wet suit a few scratches on my legs and a broken inflate valve on the kite.
I roll the kite sometimes looping too low. I have fixed it on my own on the water where I can stand and park the kite but it's risky and have ended up in a death roll before. It would be good to know a safer way to do it alone.
Ha I was expecting a trick involving flipping the Kite inside itself whilst flying! But nice tips, most of us have pulled the bar inside once, thought shit it’s still got a twist and given up and detached the lines.
happened to me a few times on the water when crashing after big jumps, after the kite fell into his lines. The tip will help on the beach and in shallow water - but if you get dragged by the inverted kite in deep water you don't have a chance to untangle the lines that way! (or?) Cause you can't simply unhook and detach safety to turn the bar around (what will power the kite up). So in all scenarios that happened to me I guess Jake's trick wouldn't have worked. :-( I always had to relaunch the inverted kite (which can be very hard especially if the lines are crossed only on one side) and got dragged back to the beach.
I’m 14 and it has happened to me, I was quite scared cuz I wasn’t taught how to deal with it, the kite eventually fixed itself but my lines ended up inverted.
Yess one time i was jumping and i fall into a wave the kite feel in the water and the waves made the kite turn over i was scared because there where waves breaking in my head and in the kite!
So... this video would be super useful for me a week ago. This exact same thing happened to me when I was kiting , cause I was kind of overpowered (and still learning) and I dropped off my board ,(so did my kite). When I lifted my kite the ropes were like this.. so I surfed my way out in the beach, but because of the strong wind , I dropped off my board at the very end , and my kite just popped ,lost its air and dropped in the water. Ps . The kite was just fine before I started my session and the crash I had that day wasn't nearly that hard. So , I believed that happened due to the kite being pushed too hard because of the ropes being like this? Idk... anyone has an opinion?
Actually you should sort your lines out before getting into launch position so that you're not making your helper stand there holding your kite while you're mucking about with your lines
good topic. Please listen and edit your audio. You tend to mumble during some key instructions. Also really need to know how to do this when I am solo.

+Christopher Dunkley thanks for the killer feed back dude! Really enjoying making these videos and its awesome to hear people finding value in them. 👊

3:07 ... geez ... she can invert my lines any time she likes :)
Pump up your kite super hard will help prevent an inverted kite :) Great vid Jake!
Please don't stop doing these videos, love them ))
This happens to me all the time. Thanks for the easy trick Jake!
I think this is a great tip for low V bars, on a high V split like north it would become a bit trickier. Keep it up! ✌
Andrea Cadone trickier or just impossible??
Farhad Omid it happent to me this weekend the kite stalled and got inverted... It took me 20 minutes to untangle, first the stearing line's one by one, then the center line's what a mess
Great video, I've actually been looking for the answer to this problem. Happened to me a few times.
Thanks for the awesome tip😊🏄 Most of the time this happened to me was because a big kite (18sqm) on 12 was stalling in light winds... Keep up with the good videos !😊
This happened to me and I had a total hissy fit cause Jake was flying his drone and didn't help 😕😂😂
Great trick !!!
I think I experienced inverted kite , most of the time when my kite was under inflated. Well inflated kite, no bad kite behaviour.
happened to me last week because i was really hyped to try out my new slingshot rally gt. unfortunately there was nearly no wind at all so it backstalled just after 1 min in the air 😆should have been more patient

This secret trick is a life saver, thank you.

I'm sure that when I'll try to do that I do a mess but...many thanks! ;-)

Great videos man thanks!! 👊🏻 keep them coming!!
Great videos
good tips mate, ill remember this tip next time, rather then bringing my kite down for a complete walk out :)
What happens if the lines are set up properly but the bar is backwards? I hope that make sense. :)
Yes buddy, this is it! Thanks!!
Thank you, very useful!
Thank you although i own five lines. I half inverted my kite while kiting alone in queens lake in north nsw in Australia. Lucky there wasn't any bull sharks because they are around. it took me an hour to get out of the water and an oyster farm
If you know how to recover from half inverted, id like to know because it happened a few times already and the kite go straight into a death loop
Once in a lesson to learn the self-rescue 😬😂
Great video thanks so much
Super useful

+Tom Ruhnau woah scary stuff dude! Happy you made it out in once piece and are still shredding!

Nice one

10 000 subs....woooohooooo
we always do that techniques here in boracay...mostly European kiters don't know how to re tangled the line...lols
Yes, specially in low wind...
Inverted my lines yesterday 😂😂
Haha been there. Great guide!
Yes
And...voilà !!! 🤩🤩🤩
I’m 14 and it has happened to me, I was quite scared cuz I wasn’t taught how to deal with it, the kite eventually fixed itself but my lines ended up inverted.
Good tip Bro ! Ones I saw one guy doing this and his girlfriend did't hold kite well ... What happen next imagine hahahah :D
can you make video how to relunch ozone c4 ı see your before video ı test it but ı cant do can you do another one pls
Umm what should you do when the kite inverts only half way and you are in deep water in side shore conditions ???
Yep
I have because I needed to realise
Yess one time i was jumping and i fall into a wave the kite feel in the water and the waves made the kite turn over i was scared because there where waves breaking in my head and in the kite!
Happened when I first started the wind was 9 mph and I had my lines set to heavy winds 😂
A few times in the waves, i waited tô stand at my feet and turno Theo bar as in the video

Happened to me today cause my kite went to far overhead after a big jump but wasn't the first time so there s no reason to stress
Hahhah this happened yesterday and we just ended the sesh ,well now i know
Im still bodydragging so yeah!
Lol happened to me on a 5 line North DICE, got dragged down wind for about an hour before i gave up and did a self rescue :D Worst session ever
We all have at least one story like that 😂 Life of a kiteboarder can consist of sharpening the swimming skills from time to time haha
:DDD Aye that sounds about right
kept happening when kite was backstalling before I learned more lol
at first try with my own kite, i was realy angry about myself then i have to go back on land an connect the kines new
🔥🔥🔥
good topic. Please listen and edit your audio. You tend to mumble during some key instructions. Also really need to know how to do this when I am solo.
I would let that girl trip over my lines anytime...😎
I do exactly the same...
here in Denmark :P
Have you ever had your kite crash, been unable to untangle and relaunch the kite.... Yes and Yes.... oh and it was a trainer kite :S Lol :D
I think it's not easy to do it in the water....
Yes but you can’t do this easy with all kites. When you have a hight V you cant
not clear. need some coloured animation on that vide
I did. And the kite crash in front of an other rider. Destroyed .
the key moment is not clear.
One Thing Every Kiteboarder Should Know: Windsurfing is better !
jes
Untangling lines all day. Sounds like a ladies sport.
Not a great video to fast talking and too fast movement will look elsewhere for coaching tips😮
Shooots will work on slowing things down in future videos. 🙌🏻
Put your hand in your pocket. All that gesticulation is grade A punchable
Make a video how to give a ride that girl in your shoulers please XD
This happened to me and I had a total hissy fit cause Jake was flying his drone and didn't help 😕😂😂
