Malaikottai Vaaliban (transl. Youngster from the Mountain Fort) is a 2024 Indian Malayalam-language action drama film directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery and written by P. S. Rafeeque from a story by Pellissery. It was jointly produced by John & Mary Creative (in their maiden production), Century Films, Maxlab Cinemas and Entertainments, Saregama, and Amen Movie Monastery. The film stars Mohanlal in the title role. Set in an alternate world, the story follows Malaikottai Vaaliban, an undisputed warrior, whose journey transcends time and boundaries, challenging every opponent in his path. The film's original score and songs were composed by Prashant Pillai. #Malayalam

how could you say 90% don't like? it's only 3 days, that's true 1St day got many negative reviews and opinions, but 3Rd day getting very large positive opinions from huge audiance, and not alla malayalees even whatched this movie and then how could you say 90% don't like?
i love this classic movie I watched 1St day.truth is and most negative opinions and hate is came from many people who don't even watched the movie.
there is many negative reviews from many reviewers but that doesn't mean that 90% malayaalees don't like it.
and one thing is every reviewers appreciate mohanlals perfomance in this movie,
the main reson for negative is many people who watched 1St day expected mass action movie.
but this is a classic one q classic story like mahabharatha ramayana or other fairytales, there is not only mass action but also many philosophy and classic taste culture and etc.

Man even the Malayalam speaking people found it difficult to understand malayalam sentences used in movie because it was that much poetic and metaphoric....since I did schooling in malayalam medium and all the poems we were taught in malayalam literature classes were like this , it was easy for me to decipher,... It's impossible to translate all the dialogues in this movie to English without loosing content ..

    • @mithunmadhav8716
      @mithunmadhav8716 Рік тому +5

I felt most of the dialogue was just sloppy and uninspired. Just using synonyms for common words doesn’t make the dialogue great. Also felt that the dialogue delivery was nowhere near near Lalettan standard.

Bro, most of the Malayalis studied in Malayalam medium schools and Kerala school education was so good 15-20 years ago. We were reading a lot of literature books outside the ones taught in school. For such people the Malayalam in this movie doesn't sound special or great.

Beyond the main plot of the film I felt "Malaikottai Valiban" was also a journey of the growth of our popular form of entertainment... from the first scene is reminiscent of ancient plays where the clown first appears and narrates the story (the very first frame of the film was reminiscent of a stage)... then the horse is lost. The part that tells the story of the warrior has the appearance of a satire... From there, the film travels to the shadowy pavkoot (Yarat? Nan Devi) and the North Indian Nautanki (the song scene in "Ezhimala Kota") and when it reaches Mangad Kalari, the film shifts to the vibrancy of the Great Indian Circus. The fight choreography and the structure of the show is like that of a circus...
Then the film takes on the look of late 70s Bollywood movies (including a direct tribute to the "Mehbooba" song from Sholay) when it goes to Ampathur Kota... Then when it reaches Thirchenthur Pooram, it's a heady mix of 80s Tamil film narratives and Shakespearean tragedies' character creations... in the post climax. The movie ends with a hint of a superhuman character in the VFX/AI era...
Indian popular culture, especially cinema, is not really a day-to-day life that comes and goes in this movie! Looks like it will take one more look..

I thoroughly enjoyed the film. For me it is one of my best cinema experience at theatre. It is very unfortunate what is happening at kerala. I went for the morning show screened at 7am. Even while at theatre (especially in the scenes where silence used) some people where booing, passing un necessary comments, making movie watching tough for others. It is normal to like or dislike the film, but what really happening is degrading the film. The people are going crazy over online. Eg: Lijo's fb post's comment section is filled with filthy mocking comments, even questioning is credibility. Same with case of mohanlal. They are trolled all over online, created mocking memes and many calling the film as malam-cult (malam in english translates to faeces.) Even lijo came out in an interview and said" why this much hate " (never thought lijo would do that)😢. It's disheartening to see that. From latest interviews it was revealed the team planned a prequel and sequel for this film. Even co-witter ps rafeeq admitted in an interview that the film had a content worth of a series and had bigger plans and suprises moving forward. But now the chances look bleak.

    Lijo Fan- Absolutely!!
Mohanlal Fan - I can swear on it.....
Malaikottai is definitely a visual treat and it ends at that! ....the cinematographer completely shoulders the Movie single handedly.....so much so that even serious misgivings of the movie is completely drowned by the aesthetically shot frames and it's magical......A substandard movie made vaguely watchable by the Cinematographer's Brilliance and it's the only meaty contribution and to be honest this Movie has Misfired in Many departments..... Let's admit Emperor is without the clothes......Angamaly Diaries is so perfectly etched and lijo will thrive in its Glory and brilliance and Malaikottai will be Forgiven......Malaikottai is a colossal Wreck.....But the Greats Lal and Lijo will bounce back....they are Super talented....

100% superb cinematic experience, and my personal rating will be 85/100. Once you connect with this movie within 10-15 minutes, you can watch and enjoy the way director intended, if not you may feel “what crap it is”. I watched this in XD screen (extreme digital projector use to deliver sharper images with vibrant colors) first and again in normal screen, in both screens it delivered the best frames and sounds that we didn’t normally see in Indian movies. Most of the times even frames tells a story, so I enjoyed the intended lag. Hope we can see this type of movie and direction from Indian cinemas soon. Forgot about Malayalam cinema , forget about Mohanlal, LJP and watch this as reading a comic book or bedtime stories from your grandma. Hope they will make a 2nd part soon and explore the prequel and sequel of Valiban.

After watching the movie, my wife asked if I was crying. It wasn't crying though, my eyes were just so tired after watching the movie. Which is not an experience I've had before. Likely because my eyes were glued to the screen throughout the movie. So many details, and nice visuals. It was quite an experience. The movie doesn't follow a tried and tested formula of film-making. It's not a standard Mass movie or commercial movie as mentioned. And it's quite obviously not "accidentaly" good. The movie turned out the way it is as it was intended, and that's evident.

That film can be understood by people who view film as art by keeping aside mass commercialised film. Many of malayali people watch movie for enjoying mass masala or natural stories and nature films but this is not that. This is an art film with some commercial elements. A pure LJP stuff.

This movie is one of the best in Malayalam movies.
It's like a grandma's story of a samurai-style warrior who moves from one place to another, and the story unfolds with the introduction of new characters and events in each place. It provides a superb experience with vibrant visuals, popping colors, and wide landscapes, complemented by excellent music and background sounds. The movie alternates between slow and fast pacing, creating an engaging rhythm.
All negativity seems to spread from paid efforts. This can be observed from persistent efforts to tarnish the movie. If somebody put up a positive comment the paid persons seems reach out to forcibly put a negative view.

I did not like the film at first but it grew on me. Its different from the usual action films and uses, what i think, the kishotenketsu method of storytelling that is setting up the characters and then developing the characters which in this film is through the relationships the have, the fights they have and then we see the twist that is their deaths and the conflict is in the sequel so its part kishotenketsu, hayao miyazaki uses this method a lot in his films. For me, what i understood from the film is the idea of trying to regain reputation and how soceity easily places you in a situation where we are made fun of but also how our own pride is also the reason for it. The guy with the half beard and hair and also hareesh peradi who we see is sort of a antagonist in the end is all on the search of regaining their lost reputation. We see how they loses their reputation and pride which corrupts them into doing morally grey acts such hareesh peradi using malaikottai vaaliban, teaching him and maiking him fight only to pit him up against his own father because of what malaikottai vaaliban's father did to hareesh peradi and how the half bearded guy is also in search of revenge and reputation because he lost the fight. The film is all about human's love for reputation and how this reputation heightens their pride and makes them arrogant but once they loses it, they become hungary for revenge and reputation releasing their inner demon. This is just how i see the film and i am still processing it. The film is more than just what i said, it has a lot of philosophical aspects and is more deeper than what i understood. The film is a visual masterpiece, a lot of the film is told through visuals which is what cinema is all about and a lot of people didnt get that. Its not to say we cant understand it but cinema is a visual medium. Stories in cinema are told through visuals and not the voices and this film is all about that.

Such bold experiments in cinema should always be welcomed. Only then we will be able to see the art and passion cinema can bring to the screen. I am sure the film will be loved by many and it will have a slow box office success.

Malayalee cinema audience aren’t “good enough” for this movie ?
It is not the paying audiences job to watch online reviews to understand “the inner meanings and layers of a master craft”. It is the creator’s responsibility to lead the audience through their vision in a cohesive manner. Mystery without a thread is meaningless.
