My boss played this song to me when i was an apprentice back in the mid 80's. He walked in with a cassette player and stood in front of me. I said what's doing? He sat the player down, pushed play and sang "I am Pegasus, my name means horse......." as he walked away and out the door. I stood there thinking *that's weird, but the music and song took hold of me quickly. Never forgot that moment nor the song. One of my absolute favourites. RIP John, you were a great boss to a clueless 15 yr old.

For those who loved his song please read on.The truth behind the songs meaning "my name means horse" is simple being that the word "Ross" does in fact mean horse, he pointed that out on the albums back cover also offering Teutonic , Saxon, Norse and German definitions of his name as well. Back in the day he was having a disastrous attempt at a relationship with a airline hostess. It didn't work out, so he was writing a song about that. The "I am flying but let me down" lyrics, meant he wanted out of the relationship but this was not quite true because she was more interested in getting out of it than he was. The guy she was going out with's name was "Jeffrey" that's were that came from and "Michael" was his high school sweethearts boyfriends name. He looked up in a rhyming dictionary and found words that rhymed with Pegasus, they were "Demetrius" and "Sagittarius". And of course Sagittarius was "half man half horse". It is a great song that has stood the test of time, well done mate.

When my daughter was a little girl I used to make up my own story about Pegasus - I wanted her to know that whenever she was afraid Pegasus would come to her and she would feel the exhilaration of flying way up above the clouds leaving all her problems of the day behind.....she always fell asleep, face of an angel, before I ever got to the end of the story.......
