My boss played this song for me back in mid 80's. He let me keep the cassette because i loved it. Pegasus always gives me good chills. It's a song that brings time to a standstill as i drift back and reminisce for all but a few minutes. I'll never stop listening to it 👍
This is more or less (Bo-Diddly feel aside) what it sounded like when I wrote it. It became something else when it was recorded - a version, that to be honest, I've never figured out how to play live; especially solo. If I could I would - believe me I've gotten a lot of flack about this over the years :-) If you listen to the original recording you'll see what I mean. Cheers RR
@@rossperson My mum had all your albums (i think, actually i just checked your discography and we didn't have Home Movies but all your others from the 70s) and I came to love them growing up in the seventies. I wish I had them again, and picked up My Name Means Horse not so long ago. Still looking for A Poem You Can Keep which is my favourite. You always had a great touch with melody and arrangements. And Blue Chevrolet Ballerina is one of the most disturbing and haunting songs i know! I saw you at the Uni bar in Hobart quite a few years ago, which was a true pleasure. Thank you for the music. Your songs have enriched my life for as long as I can remember.
Hi Ross, the recorded version was more epic and was an iconic song at the time. You need an orchestra to pull it off. I recorded a cover version of it on a backing track but had to lower the key by a semitone as the original key was for a high tenor.
hi ross I was shearing in Cranbrook when I heard you on 6 va Albany and heard you were an Albany guy thanks a great song still listen to it on my car cd thanks
ohh how I love this.. If you get this post Ross.. Thank You. That was a great song for me growing up.. And would love to see you live .. Post when your next up Shellharbour way...
I can remember a mini concert done by Ross Ryan at JohnCurtin High school in the early 1970s. From memory it was a lunch time concert. It was either 1972 or 1973. So cool.
I remember it from my childhood. It is still magnificent. Before I heard your explanation of what the song was about, how it came into being, my child self had posted its own meaning. For me, it is about resistance and hope. Thank you.
When this started off I thought, What have they done to this great song. As it got going though I warmedto it. Great song, well sung, love the original better but he can still sing alright. I wouldn't be dissappointed if I saw that live.
@malfirst Oh I still love the original better by far. I just thought he sang that pretty well and I didn't mind it. If someone else had tried that version, I'm sure I wouldn't like it. Don't know why they just didn't sing it like the original though.
G'day Ross, I've been trying to find the original single version here on UA-cam only to have all links so far unplayable. Can you please upload it, not that this live version isn't great mind you. Loved this song since hearing it on 2GO when i was 5 maybe 6. Cheers mate.

Magic! On my 18th birthday (7th March 1982) I walked into the Lady Bay Hotel in Warrnambool, Victoria, to see this great man live :)
Hi Ross, I had the privilege of seeing you perform this song and others in Canberra in the 80s. A memorable gig. Hope you’re doing well.
I saw Ross perform this at Dinner Plain Hotel, around April 1990. What a great surprise to walk in to see this legend. Awesome.
Great song ... Good to see an seventies aussie artist still alive
Saw him live at Sunbury 74. The memory remains of a great long weekend
my older sister gave me the cassette tape of Ross Ryan's and I grew me up 👆 on his music

Don't know why they just didn't sing it like the original though.
