Great videos . I have to say U are talented in tape application to foam board . Its the most annoying , difficult and time consuming process in the whole hobby 😅
The foam board i use is 30" long not 31.5" as stated in you video. Am I okay building a wing that is 3" shorter, overall length? I am building the Silent Star. My v-tail and fuselage are as you specified in your videos.
No problem at all. You could make it up to 10'' shorter in it's wingspan and almost no difference would be noticeable in flight. Good luck! Please show pictures or videos!
Is this style of airfoils usefull for thermal soaring? I think about to build a thermal glider fron depron,,but dont know with airfoil i can make from depron😅

Or is better when the edge have maybe 2-3mm space to the ground? Then the middle of the front edge is in the middle from the wing line. With is better? Know what i mean? 2- Is 10% thickness enough? So when the wing is 20cm deep,then i must take 20mm,it looks really thick🤔,maybe less % are better?

I just need help with controllers, cameras, goggles, antennas, propeller. I have built many Exp Airlines design but a pusher with FPV camera and thumb cameras aiming down would be really helpful for the design. I am considering 10-20 Mah design so I can achieve flights of 1-2 hours. I am pushing the limits and would really love your help. I am in Seattle Washington
Nice tutorial. Experimental Airlines Armin wing build video shows that you have to use 3 formers but here you have used only 2 hence the camber of the wing is reduced by little bit. Will there be any significant impact on the lift generated with your version of the wing? And Tapering of control surfaces is necessary?
Thanks! I found out that unlike the reduced chamber, this thinner/slimmer version is more efficient & faster that the standard armin wing I have this wing on every plane I have now & the wings perform amazing - glide ratio’s are incredibly good too and it’s lighter as well. I experimented with the depron version on a new build (soon published) which made it only ~200gr instead of 350-400gr
@@AeroStuffFPV Thanks for the quick reply. Recently I've found your channel and subscribed it. I have a doubt regarding your pusher type models, does the motor mount have ant thrust angle? I am designing one for myself(I am a noob in flying planes, I am into multirotors ) and read somewhere that for pusher type it doesn't effect much. What's your take on it.
I know it would be much slower but would there be an advangage to use Gorilla Glue? Other than it being lighter than hot glue. And repositionable (which may not matter so much). Just wondering. Good video and tutorial!
Search your favourite online retailers for COLOUR CARTON SEALING PACKING TAPE. If your first build, you can use clear tape to give the paper on the foam protection from water and dirt. Using markers to to add a color accent, or adding an accent strip after you order arrives. ;)
Approx. 175-200gr per piece (350-400gr total per set - 1.6m wingspan) with foamboard It's much lighter but less durable with depron foam which could be 100gr per piece, maybe less

It's worth a try for sure, I had great thermals with my FPV planes, so it'll def. work on a lighter model

Can you give me some advice for wing sizing if I want to carry a 10lb useful payload for the AC?
I’d say maybe 60 to 110 inch wingspan. For wingspans in the lower range of that I would recommend either 2 very strong motors or 4 motors.
What kind of foam do you guys use? Complete newbie here. Do you cover all of the foam with tape?

I iron my tape after applying it at 90 odd degrees C. It will make it stick even better.
Edit: 90 C.

Gorilla glue is the better option for weight - But hotglue seems a more affordable and faster method to finish a wing within 10min

Packing type works. We'll its just to add more strength while bending and until bonding is done to your ribs and to the under side

I like to do two or sometimes even three layers of tape along the crease

@@A350MT1 layer of packing tape/masking tape is enough. 3 is a bit too redundant and heavy
