Someday when I retire and kids are off to college, I will finally get time to start doing this fun UAV stuff. I have so many projects in my head I'd like to try......dreaming through you for now.
@@EDWARD_KOENIG_ARCHITECT just get started small. I use the evening time when the kids are asleep. Building a foam plane like above goes really well without special tooling.
@cmb8711 the secret is to get our wives involved. Ha ha them we get the green light 😀. It's a great hobby and you meet awesome people who fly radio controlled models.
WOW MAN! That was fun to watch! Both planes looked incredible while flying side by side! I really liked how you showed the LOS landing of each plane. Really nice work buddy!!!!
I had a quick question, I don't think I've seen you make a uav drone like this is may be wrong though! But I wanted to make myself a uav semi autonomous drone that can be piloted, it would be made of fiberglass and the resin would have i think it's 0.3% by resin weight of graphene for added strength, it would have a 4 stroke engine, and I was thinking of using an aurduino or Raspberry Pi mini computer for the flight controls and other operations systems controls, Approximate wingspan of 3-4 meters and length of 2.5-3 meters and I want to make it so it can go anywhere between 200-300 mile, and a radio frequency (RF) communication system for manual control. What do you think would be the best general airframe design for a larger drone such as this? I want it to be able to fly well, have good lift, but also be able to turn well when needed.
Epic flights!! Love insight, creative processes and your willingness to share with us your creations !! Those nav lights are remarkably bright, if I may ask whom did you purchase them from? Thanks!
Thanks man!🏆 12-24V Car Lights from AliExpress. I do have a video how I install these on my FPV Builds: ua-cam.com/video/gizq-D-WIlw/v-deo.htmlsi=UFy_99lcZ-YyfHe8
Bruh... impressed. I'd love to see you bring this kinda skillset to Africa!! If I can setup up a business over there... I could use someone in research and development! I even have a printer you could use too!
This looks fun, but it's not really impressive, in that it is just two planes that happen to be flying near each other, and not two UAV's in formation with one setting the path and the other following using onboard sensors, or the planes talking to each other to set the position of the second aircraft. What this does do, is lead us to the question, of whether iNav or ArduPilot FC's can communicate with each other, and can they co-ordinate with each other?
That would be the next step! Having done something similar with 3 multi rotors many years ago, I can tell you how stressful it is to achieve, certainly not trivial.
Really cool! It would be nice if you could say something about the INAV configuration, etc. And: How do you switch to the different planes when landing ? Thx.
Both planes run (6.1.1) iNAV Firmwares on Matek F405/411 Boards When the 1st plane is in RTH/FS, I switch channels on my radio to take the 2nd airborne too. When it’s in orbit with the 1st one doing its loiters, I’m slightly adjusting my throttle, from time to time, to keep it in pace & position. Same procedure follows with landing the UAV’s.
@@StefanNaewe Taranis Radios can save up to +60 Aircraft/Receivers. With that you can select different models ofcourse. It's lik phones, switching calls (leaving the one hanging, until done with the other)
Dude excellent execution! Been looking for a design for a larger UAV that is capable of carrying a mapping camera. Doesn't have to be a VTOL but could be. Any ideas?
Thanks! I’m onto it as well - might build a bigger version of the V-Tail Pusher w/ landing gear & flaps & 6S Batteries. But for buying a kit, I’d suggest to look up ArxAngelRC - He features the Fixed-Wing Platforms you’re looking for, with gimbals etc…
Most ESCs have a “brake” feature which stops the prop from ‘windmilling’ through the air to prevent damaging prop-strikes upon landing. Never broken a prop in that way.
I have a two questions : one - is it possible to fly only using vtail as a controller surface without ailerons on the wings - plane will be long range mission drone. Second - are you able to make some video as summary on your planes configuration? I mean batteries sieze weight motor type and propeller sets to compare them for efficiency and design to give some guidance for future builds ? Regards
1: The V-Tail controlsurface's impact on roll are nihil, therefore it'll be insufficient to have solid control over your V-Tail Platform, especially in Long Range, where stability in all directions are mandatory. 2: I already uploaded plenty videos on these FPV Planes, providing sufficient information in performance, setup & design. Here is one of them: ua-cam.com/video/2gwtjqAywHQ/v-deo.html
@@aleksandertarnawski I got no favourites yet, I love them all equally. The one coming next (FPV Racer) might do +250km/h and could be my favourite. We'll see how that works out.
Does you propeller ever break when landing. I installed a folding propeller but have not tested it yet but I hope it will be an improvement on having safe landings.
This is really cool. Does Denmark have any regulations for flying multiple UAS at the same time like we have in the US with Part 107.35 ? This would take a bit of paperwork and a Waiver to do in the US.
@@AeroStuffFPV Interesting. In the US, one pilot flying multiple UAS at the same time is prohibited. That said.. I did it some years ago, before FAA explicitly regulated UAS. Two aircraft, one controller, both FPV, one semi-autonomous. YT search "Daemon Relay".
No. 1st UAV was in Failsafe (0% signal) because I changed models on my transmitter, to control the 2nd UAV, which was in (Return to Home) mode. After landing the 2nd UAV, I change the flight-model back to the 1st UAV and landed it too.
@AeroStuffFPV oh i see. Thanks for the clarification. I'm still trying to find a video about Elrs model matching being used on the field and switching multiple planes just by using a switch before trying it out myself.
I crashed mines on january 1st 😢 (volantex Ranger1600) while trying a tailwind landing. I had too much speed trees all around me and an enbankment. I could not do a headwind landing since there was an enbankment higher than my line of sight it would have resulted in a too steep descent so my only option was to co.e in from the sea. Had everything leveled but crashed into a stone and damaged the wings and other flight surfaces. Fuselage and all electronics survived😮💨. Now what should I do🥹😭
Try balancing it with your fingers. I use 1 finger on each side of the wing that way I see if it is either nose or tail heavy. The place were you want your center of gravity depends on what your wing looks like, you can look it up.

Loved everything about this footage. The synchronized planes, the sunset... Looking forward to what you'll do this new year!

This is epic! Can't imagine the efforts put into this. Bravo man!
Pretty awesome, seeing this in person must have been great!! Watching your own designs do this is so cool!!

It's manual adjustments of throttle of the second plane and slightly different flight paths setup in inav

Fuselage & Tails are Foamboard and the wings from XPS/Depron
