Im so happy someone is finally documenting this swap! Very detailed commentary thank you for putting all of this effort into your videos!
Best thing to do when removing the torque converter it’s to removed that Front lower bar brace will give you so much space and easy access to removed the bolt!! Not idea how you manage to do it without removing it 😅 could no fit my hands at all in there.
Great idea, thanks for the tip and thanks so much for watching 👀!
couldn’t get the torque convert bolts off so just tools a angle grinder to it. made it a whole lot easier
to drain out all the fluid, all you had to do with remove the line from the radiator start the car, put in neutral and it will pump it all out and until it blows air, turn off and your done, all 12 quarts pumped out
Amazing video ! My auto trams is slipping and I’m planning on replacing it with a junk yard one for 360$ I want to eventually Manuel swap it but it’s just not in the budget right now 😂😢 but non the less thank you I will definitely be using this video as a guide
Automatic transmissions for these cars are dirt cheap. G35 has exact same transmission and you can pick up a low mile unit for $299. eBay has listings and I believe they are sourced from Japan and supposed to have like 50-60k on them.
Awesome, thanks for sharing and watching!!!👍💯🏁
Here I am agin my 2nd auto z I sold the 1st after I did the swap and bought another for sum odd reason I’ll be using this video as a guide agin 💪 just wanted to say I appreciate you agin 😂
Thanks so much for watching!! Your second swap should be a little easier!
Like #6....great instructional video. I almost thought you were a professional with the detailed narration!Keep up the good work
Thanks so much, your encouragement is one of the things that keeps me going, Love your channel by the way!!!!
Brilliant, love all your videos perfect detail and your voice is so calming. Thank you
Thanks so much for watching!
@@Zspeed your welcome, you helped so much im doing valve cover gaskets that video is so good too so thanks for that. One day I'll get to the auto to manual as well
Awesome I love the video I’m going to be swapping my HR 350z next summer
Thanks so much for watching!!
Muchas gracias por la información :D Saludos desde México espero pueda subir las demás partes, estoy interesado en la parte de la ECU
Sorry amigo, paquito espanol!
Your car is so clean!
Thanks so much for watching!!
Can't wait to test drive it..it's been a long time since I drove a stick! (just kidding, no one but you will ever touch those gears)
I was a little worried when the transmission jack started moving
Thanks so much for caring about your old buddy Z-speed!!!
Making me want to do an awd manual conversion 👀
Thanks so much for watching, don't forget to subscribe for more content 👍💯🏁!
Z-Speed, you are SO amazing for detailing this process. I picked up everything that I need yesterday and I'm going to get started on this swap today.
I know you got the U1000 and U1001 codes when you finished. Is it possible to clear those codes with a scanner and stop them from coming back or are they permanent without a manual ECU and harness?
Thank you!
To make them disappear permanently you will need a manual harness and ECU, but my car has been running fine with the automatic harness!! Thanks so much for watching!
@@Zspeed Got my automatic transmission out today! Following your videos every step of the way. Tomorrow I'm going to remove my flywheel and try to get the pilot bearing out. Unfortunately nobody carries the OEM Tools one but I'm going to try a few other methods. Wish me luck!
@@Zspeed And Happy Easter!
Best of luck, and thanks so much for watching!🏁💯👍
Thank you, 😊!!! You too!!!
i’m trying to do a right hand drive flairlady imported from japan, what will happen next when i successfully swap the transmission? do i go onto the computer and look at how much power levels n ect the car makes?
Yes, you can have it tuned after the transmission swap!!🏁👍
Great videos man! really helping with my swap was just wondering what you did with the at cooler lines.
I completely removed all the brackets from the engine bay after removing the lines!!! You have to separate the lines to remove them!!! Thanks so much for watching!
@@Zspeed oh nice just as I thought, thanks for the reassurance 😊 And keep up the good work !!!
What did you do with the automatic transmission cooler lines?
Completely removed them!
I don’t have the money for a manual if I’m just changing my auto transmission from a used g35 my same year same procedure?
Yes, this will work for an automatic to automatic swap as well! Thanks so much for watching!
So my z has been stuttering and randomly accelerating. It's super uneven and the car feels really slow. I've replaced spark plugs, oil and filter, fuel pump, maf sensor, used injector cleaner. I have coil packs and sensors on the way, any other ideas? 2003 350z with 123k miles
Run a code scanner and see what pops up, that might help you narrow in on what causing this problem, let me know what codes you get!
@@Zspeed I ran the scanner at AutoZone and no codes. Car idles fine. But just struggles under acceleration
Sounds like it could be the knock sensor harness, I had to replace mine at 124,000 miles due to poor acceleration! Have you changed out your camshaft position sensors? check this video out: ua-cam.com/video/ke7XmlD130Q/v-deo.html
Did you become a mechanic through a shop and or school or are you self taught?
Self taught over many years and watched lots of UA-cam videos 📹 ☺!! Thanks so much for watching!
Approximately how much did the conversion cost you?
Remember, I bought a brand new transmission! I spent about $1500.00 on miscellaneous parts, new transmission was $2100.0, so about $3600.00 dollars in all. You should be able to get a used transmission for around $500-600 hundred dollars. That would make the swap about $2000.00 dollars! Thanks so much for watching!!!
@@Zspeedwhere did you get your transmission from?
Do we need a manual harness and a manual ecu ???
No, it works just fine without the harness and using the automatic ECU!
@@Zspeed thank you so much
Isn't it possible to recondition the transmission?
Yes, you can definitely refurbish your old automatic or manual transmission!
@@Zspeed Yes, definitely, I was just wondering why you bought a complete new one instead of refurbishing the old..or does a repair require specific knowledge and skill? Are there some key points to mention regarding a repair? I mean technically, mechanically, equipment?
